    Ronda Rousey, who's in her trademark leather jacket from her run in the WWE, has lost none of her confidence and drive to change the status quo.

    "Now it’s about changing the landscape of the sport and and challenging the monolith that the UFC has become," says Rousey

    "I just wanted to do something fun and ended up changing the world, that’s the way we do it.

    "I’m so happy we’re here and so grateful Gina trusted me. When it wasn’t going to work out with the UFC I said, 'we don’t need them, we can do it on our own'. And she said 'I’m going to trust you'."

    Ronda Rousey says she "found her love for MMA again" before agreeing to fight Gina Carano.

    "I had built up a lot of walls around MMA. I was forced to retire because of neurological problems," she starts with.

    "I got to be pregnant and I was about three months pregnant when my husband caught me doing suplexes in the yard. I was nine months pregnant when I saw an interview with Gina, I was like I hope she doesn’t say anything because I don’t have the love for it [MMA] anymore.

    "But I found that love again, saw her not doing well, and I was like we need to find our bodily identity together, so I reached out to her and its been such a journey to get here.

    "So many obstacles and people tried to get between us. We went from barely knowing each other to training to fight each other."

    "I told her I will train me to fight me if I have to. Luckily I didn’t have to," Rousey adds.

    Gina Carano is first to talk and says she was first offered the fight in 2024 by UFC president Dana White.

    "Obviously the motivation is Ronda asked me. She's quite the charmer," says Carano.

    "Other jobs came up like this but nothing is as important as this. To share the moment with her, we get to live once and this makes me feel so alive and super grateful for the opportunity.

    "I first got confronted by it with Dana White in 2024, about a year we've been talking about it. Dana gave me a call and said Ronda wants to fight - the only one she wants to fight is you."

    Before Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano, we're going to be introduced to Francis Ngannou and Philipe Lins.

    Lins is looking dapper in a black suit and and blue shirt, while Ngannou, introduced as the lineal MMA heavyweight champion of the world despite there being no such thing in MMA, walks out to warm applause and is also dressed in a suit.

    Former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou will be in attendance after it was confirmed this week he will be fighting Philipe Lins on the Ronda Rousey-Gina Carano undercard.

    Ngannou, whose stock rose after being narrowly defeated by Tyson Fury in a boxing bout in 2023 before later losing to Anthony Joshua, became a free agent after being released from his PFL contract last week.

    It's also likely Jake Paul will be at the news conference with the American YouTuber-turned-boxer's Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) promoting the fight card, which will be streamed live on Netflix.

    The Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano news conference is scheduled to begin shortly.

    It's taking place at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, California - the venue where the bout will go down on 16 May - and is hosted by combat sports journalist Ariel Helwani.

    The event is free and open to the public, so we're expecting a healthy turnout of fans.

    It's been almost 10 years since we last saw Ronda Rousey in an MMA fight.

    A lot has changed since then, in and out of MMA, but what has stayed the same is Rousey's status as one of the biggest names to ever grace the sport.

    Today we'll hear more about her return - a featherweight bout against Gina Carano on 16 May - with the pair set for a news conference to promote their fight in Los Angeles.
