    Muhammad/Glasspool 6-3 Cascino/Added*

There's some British interest on court eight as Lloyd Glasspool is in mixed doubles action.

Glasspool has teamed up with American Asia Muhammad for Roland Garros this year and they've made the perfect start in their first-round match against the French wildcard pairing of Estelle Cascino and Dan Added by taking the first set.

  2. Svitolina breaks backpublished at 14:35 BST 2 June 2023

    Blinkova 2-1 Svitolina*

Over on Court Simonne-Mathieu, Russia's Anna Blinkova got off to a bright start after breaking Elina Svitolina's opening serve

However, Blinkova, who beat fifth seed and home favourite Caroline Garcia in second round, has been broken back instantly by the Ukrainian.

    Djokovic 2-1 Davidovich Fokina*

Davidovich Fokina can't get the break in the end, but he'll have taken plenty of confidence from those opening three games.

    *Djokovic 1-1 Davidovich Fokina

Djokovic uses his first serve to quickly shut down the break point.

Davidovich Fokina then narrowly misses the line with a forehand to relieve the pressure, but he's not letting Djokovic get away just yet!

The Spaniard's quick footwork allows him to scramble across to reach a drop shot and whip a forehand winner around the net. Back to deuce.

  5. Break point Davidovich Fokinapublished at 14:30 BST 2 June 2023

    *Djokovic 1-1 Davidovich Fokina

Djokovic double-faults to bring Davidovich Fokina into the game at 15-15, but the 23-year-old is unable to apply a bit of early pressure as he nets from the back of the court.

That's an excellent point, though! The Spaniard mixes power with panache, forcing Djokovic back before dragging him in with a drop shot and knocking a backhand into an open court for 30-30.

Here's his chance! Djokovic misses a forehand. Break point...

  6. Davidovich Fokina holdspublished at 14:26 BST 2 June 2023

    *Djokovic 1-1 Davidovich Fokina

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina's serve certainly packs a punch.

The Spaniard keeps the points short in a tidy service game to make a solid start here, holding to 15.

  7. Another night, another men's matchpublished at 14:25 BST 2 June 2023

    BBC Sport at Roland Garros

One of the big talking points at Roland Garros this year - yet again - has been the lack of women's matches in the night session on Court Philippe Chatrier.

Starting at 20:15 local time (19:15 BST), it is primetime viewing for the ticket-holders coming to Roland Garros and those French fans watching at home on television.

But, with Alexander Zverev versus Frances Tiafoe picked for tomorrow, it means all six night sessions so far have been men's matches.

That has led to anger from those who want to see the women's game showcased more and believe the French Tennis Federation are not doing enough to promote the WTA stars.

The FFT will argue it provides gender equality by having two men's matches and two women's matches on Chatrier across the whole day.

    Djokovic 1-0 Davidovich Fokina*

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina is already showing he's more than capable of getting stuck into Djokovic's serve today, but the third seed fires in a closing ace to get himself on the board.

Davidovich Fokina gets himself into a rally and soon goes on the attack, closing in and reducing Djokovic's options with a thumping forehand, forcing the Serb into the net for 30-30. Decent start.

Russian 11th seed Karen Khachanov has come through his third-round match in four sets, beating Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis 6-4 6-1 3-6 7-6 (7-5).

However, his compatriot Andrey Rublev, the seventh seed, has been taken to a deciding set by Italy's Lorenzo Sonego.

That's despite Rublev winning the first two sets on Court Suzanne Lenglen.

He loses the fourth set tie-break 7-5 and now he has a real fight on his hands.

  12. 'A drama-free Grand Slam? I don't think it can happen for me'published at 14:14 BST 2 June 2023

    Djokovic v Davidovich Fokina

Novak Djokovic was criticised following his second round victory, after which he wrote a political message about Kosovo on a TV camera.

The Serb said he is "aware people would disagree" with his actions but added it is an issue he "stands for".

France's sports minister said the Serb's actions were "not appropriate" and warned it should not happen again.

"A drama-free Grand Slam, I don't think it can happen for me," said Djokovic.

"I guess that drives me, as well."

    Djokovic v Davidovich Fokina

Novak Djokovic is trying to reach the fourth round at Roland Garros for the 14th year in a row.

He would also do so in a 21st consecutive Grand Slam appearance, since he lost in the second round at the 2017 Australian Open.

The Serb owns a 2-1 head-to-head against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, but the 23-year-old Spaniard did win their last meeting in Monte Carlo in April last year...

    Djokovic v Davidovich Fokina

Next on Court Philippe Chatrier, Novak Djokovic's bid for a record 23rd men's Grand Slam title continues against Spanish 29th seed Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.

It's all been nice and straightforward for the third seed so far at Roland Garros, with back-to-back straight-set wins over American Aleksandar Kovacevic and Hungary's Marton Fucsovics.

The 36-year-old Serb is also chasing a return to the world number one ranking, which would accompany success in Paris.

On whether it feels different now she is a Grand Slam champion: "I think every tournament is different, especially Roland Garros as it's completely different to the Australian Open, a different surface. It's really good to have a Grand Slam in your pocket, it gives you so much belief.

"Hopefully I can do well here in Paris."

Away from Court Philippe Chatrier, a couple of men's singles matches could be set to go the distance.

Russian seventh seed Andrey Rublev was two sets to the good against Italy's Lorenzo Sonego, but he lost the third and found himself a break down in the fourth before responding to level at 3-3.

Similarly, his compatriot Karen Khachanov, seeded 11th, won the first two sets against Thanasi Kokkinakis but the Australian took the third before failing to serve out the fourth - which is now heading to a tie-break.

  20. Sabalenka saves break point and holdspublished at 13:49 BST 2 June 2023

    *Rakhimova 2-6 2-5 Sabalenka

On her second serve, Sabalenka averts the danger in style by sending down her fifth ace of the match.

But at advantage, she messes up a backhand at the net from an almost identical position as before. This time, the racquet is saved from taking the brunt of it.

Another game point comes and goes, before Sabalenka earns another advantage with another ace, this one sent at an astonishing angle. This time, she sees out the hold with a deep backhand into space.

The pressure is back on Rakhimova to stay in the match, and indeed the tournament.
