  1. Konta reaches Eastbourne second roundpublished at 16:18 BST 23 June 2019

    Yastremska 2-6 5-7 Konta

After that late break in the second set, Johanna Konta wastes no time in serving out the match against Ukrainian qualifier Dayana Yastremska.

The British number one will face Greece's Maria Sakkari or American Jessica Pegula next.

It's only day one but she is the only British woman left in the draw after defeats for Heather Watson, Katie Swan and Harriet Dart

    Lopez 6-2 6-7 (4-7) 6-5 Simon*

Simon quite literally gets Lopez in a spin as his backhand looks like it's going one way, but bounces and lands another.

An even longer rally than usual (27 shots) ends as Simon hits a backhand into the net. 30-30.

Lopez's box are on their feet as he steps up to the baseline. Simon is serving to stay in the match.

It's an enthralling final. You keep thinking one might be a bit tired, then Lopez plays a game like that. This is after two and a half hours!

Or perhaps not. Simon screams as he hits a lovely backhand return to go 15-0 up on Lopez's serve.

But Lopez is toying with him. He brings Simon forwards and swipes a backhand past him.

Another top volley (good practice for the doubles final later) and a great serve - Lopez holds.

  6. Konta breaks in second set at Eastbournepublished at 16:10 BST 23 June 2019

    Yastremska 2-6 4-5 Konta*

Konta finally has that second-set breakthrough we were talking about earlier.

It's taken until the ninth game of the second set - and five break points in other games in this set - for the Brit to break Dayana Yastremska.

And a pretty good time to do it - she will now serve for the match!

Lopez is getting riled up again. Simon hits a stellar forehand to go 30-0 up and the Spaniard shouts at his box in frustration.

Lopez's backhand goes into the net and Simon holds to love. There's an air of tie-break to this set.

Lopez first fell outside the top 100 in April this year for the first time since July 2002. That is a wealth of experience.

    Lopez 6-2 6-7 (4-7) 5-4 Simon*

Lopez serves an ace but it's called out. He challenges and it was in! By the tiniest of margins.

Simon hits a forehand into the net and Lopez holds again.

    *Lopez 6-2 6-7 (4-7) 4-4 Simon

This match had gone quiet for a while, but Simon finds a spark.

He comes forward and his angled volley puts him 30-15 up on Lopez's serve.

That's woken the 37-year-old up. Lopez darts left and right at the net, hitting a volley at Simon's body to make it 30-30.

    *Lopez 6-2 6-7 (4-7) 4-4 Simon

Lopez catches the ball with the side of his racquet and it shoots into the stands. The Spaniard hits the ball into the net on the next point and Simon holds with ease again.

Have these two run out of steam?

    Lopez 6-2 6-7 (4-7) 4-3 Simon*

Lopez swaps shirts at the changeover and reveals some tape on his back. I suppose it would be amazing if he wasn't taped up given he played three matches yesterday.

    Lopez 6-2 6-7 (4-7) 4-3 Simon*

It looks as though it will be another hold to love for Lopez but his backhand lands absolutely nowhere near the court.

An ace soon cleans things up though.

    *Lopez 6-2 6-7 (4-7) 3-3 Simon

We might be seeing a bit of a dip in energy from these two after Lopez hits a ball long to give Simon a 40-0 lead.

Lopez pretty much repeats that shot again and the Frenchman holds.

  15. Konta piling pressure on in Eastbournepublished at 15:53 BST 23 June 2019

    * Yastremska 2-6 3-3 Konta

It's going with serve in the second set of Johanna Konta's first-round match at Eastbourne against Dayana Yastremska.

But it looks like only a matter of time before the Brit finds a breakthrough - she had break point in the Ukrainian's second service game of the set and then took her to deuce three times in the third.

And yet on her own serve, Konta is giving very little away. She holds to love for 3-3 in the second.

    Lopez 6-2 6-7 (4-7) 3-2 Simon*

Lopez holds to love in the most straightforward game we've had for a while.

Hopefully that will stop him muttering to himself.

  17. Hewett misses out on second title of daypublished at 15:49 BST 23 June 2019

Some wheelchair doubles news from Queen's:

Alfie Hewett, who won the wheelchair singles title against Gordon Reid earlier in the day, could not add the doubles title.

He and fellow Briton Reid lost 6-1 6-0 to top seeds Joachim Gerard and Stefan Olsson in just 48 minutes.

    *Lopez 6-2 6-7 (4-7) 2-2 Simon

Lopez sends the first break point into the net, then the second lands way out. Simon looks more comfortable than his opponent at the moment.

He holds. Lopez shouts at his box again.
