    Japan 25-8 Samoa

Samoa race forward but once again Japan discipline sets up a wall of red and white and their opponents show their impatience and concede another sloppy penalty.

Story of the match. Japan have played this one perfectly.

This bunker system is an absolute joke!! Absolutely zero consistency!! How was the Japan hookers head on head contact mitigated as not dangerous, but Tom Curry's was??! Then soon as Samoa Ben Lam hits hard, yes there's head contact, yes fair enough upgrade to red, but for the sake of this World Cup fairness be consistent!! Who's making these decisions?? Footballers??!!

I understand why rugby wants to do something about head on head contact, but expecting players to bend and so lead with their head is absurd. You simply do not always have time to crouch and ensure your head will be to the side of the player you are tackling. The game is becoming unplayable.

Japan are looking to stretch the field. I reckon one more try, a bonus-point one at that, will make this result certain.

I get all the analysis of the Japanese card staying yellow, but it seems to me that all those arguments could equally apply to Tom Curry so why did his get upgraded and his ban upheld?

Everest stuff. Samoa captain Fritz Lee did ask why Ben Lam was sent off and Shota Horie survived. The referee responds by saying the two challenges were nothing alike.

What a great try - Japanese fans are delighted. That is a huge score.

Japan were held up short the first time, but not the second time it is such a crucial score.

Almost a carbon copy of Samoa's try.

We have another bunker review and I reckon this one might be a red!

Samoa's Ben Lam leads with his shoulder and smashes into the head of an opponents. It meets the yellow card threshold and he's sent off to the bunker.

RE: 8:55 That's not how the the law works. The onus is on the tackler not to create head on head contact and to bend at the hips. Mitigation only happens if the attacker is dipping into the tackle , or there's a change of direction . Upright into the tackle is exactly what the law is trying to stop.
