    Great chance for Hearts!

A low cross from Alex Cochrane finds Andy Halliday 12 yards from goal, but the midfielder's first-time effort is blocked by the knees of goalkeeper Pavels Steinbors and the rebound just evades Lawrence Shankland.

Barrie McKay has barely been in the game. He's virtually playing left-back there. Hearts need to get the ball to him further up the park

How long will they be without the centre-back now?

It's end to end stuff at the moment.

Hearts midfielder Andy Halliday heads straight at goalkeeper Pavels Steinbors, but RFS are quickly up the other end and the visiting defence hack clear from inside their six-yard box.

    Great chance for RFS.

Andrej Ilic is found unmarked inside the Hearts penalty box, but RFS's top goalscorer tries to control with his chest and defender Michael Smith manages to shepherd it out for a goal kick.

I really feel that Hearts need to score the first goal in this one for their confidence. I'm not sure they can afford to go behind

The ball is bobbling about inside the Hearts penalty box.

The visitors manage to scramble it away.

Replays show that the early Emerson Deocleciano strike that hit the woodwork actually a result of a fine fingertip save from Craig Gordon.

Two excellent stops from both goalkeepers so far.

It's a risk because Ilic is a proper centre forward. It'll be both a physical and mental test for Lewis Neilson

Hearts boss Robbie Neilson admitted before kick-off that including Craig Halkett was a risk and, although the centre-half made a bright start, it is one that has not paid off.

  14. Halkett forced off, Neilson onpublished at 21mins

    RFS 0-0 Heart of Midlothian

Craig Halkett might have been lucky with that challenge, but it looks like the centre-half has injured himself in the process.

Halkett was touch and go for this game after being sidelined for a few weeks and looks to have suffered a recurrence.

The Scotland squad man is replaced with 19-year-old Lewis Neilson.

  15. Hearts should 'change dynamic' in attackpublished at 20:21 BST 15 September 2022

    Stephen Craigan

    Quote Message

When Hearts string three or four passes together in their own half, they need to play one down the channel. They should change the dynamic instead of letting RFS press them

Craig Halkett looks a bit fortunate there.

Andrej Ilic plays a ball through for Emerson Deocleciano and the forward goes down in a heap after a challenge from the visiting centre-half.

However, the referee decides it was the Brazilian who committed the foul.

Both sides are causing problems for their opposing defence, but it is Hearts who are enjoying 65% of possession in these early stages.

  18. 'Ginnelly has to score'published at 20:13 BST 15 September 2022

    RFS 0-0 Heart of Midlothian

    Craig Levein
Former Hearts manager on BBC Sportsound in Riga

    Quote Message

In my eyes, Josh Ginnelly has to score. He's only six yards from goal. I don't think there's enough in that for a foul though

  19. Postpublished at 9mins

    RFS 0-0 Heart of Midlothian

    Great chance for Hearts.

Pavels Steinbors makes a mess of coming to collect a Stephen Kingsley cross and, with the goalkeeper on the ground, it falls to the feet of Josh Ginnelly.

However, the winger fails to get enough on his toe poke and it is cleared from in front of the empty net by a defender.
