You can expect Quique Setien to make some early changes in this second half as he begins to turn his attention to Tuesday's Champions League last-16 first leg trip to Napoli.

We could witness Martin Braithwaite in a Barcelona shirt this afternoon folks.

    HT: Barcelona 3-0 Eibar

Erling Haaland has just scored his 12th goal in eight games to put Borussia Dortmund 2-0 up against Werder Bremen as they look to stay just about in touch with leaders Bayern Munich.

    HT: Barcelona 3-0 Eibar

A 26-minute hat-trick from Lionel Messi is the difference so far, including two excellent goals followed by a tap-in to kill the contest before the interval.

It means Barcelona are heading top of La Liga, for the rest of the afternoon at least.

    Barcelona 3-0 Eibar

    Lionel Messi is very good.

    Penalty!?

    No!

Antoine Griezmann goes down under a challenge by Eibar goalkeeper Marko Dmitrovic, it's a clear penalty - but the Frenchman is offside.

  6. GREAT SAVE!published at 43 mins

    Barcelona 3-0 Eibar

A great double save from Marko Dmitrovic denies Barca a fourth!

First it's Antoine Griezmann who is denied, before Dmitrovic recovers to smother Sergio Busquets follow-up attempt.

  7. goal

    Lionel Messi

    Scenes.

It's a first half hat-trick for Lionel Messi.

It's a much more straightforward goal this time, rather disappointing really after the first two today as he converts at close-range after Eibar lost the ball in defence. I hope he isn't getting complacent.

  8. goal

GOAL - Barcelona 2-0 Eibarpublished at 38 mins

    Lionel Messi

Eibar may need a new approach.

It's another great finish by Lionel Messi who has decided he is taking Barcelona top of La Liga all by himself.

He races past several Eibar defenders and slots the ball into the opposite corner.

    Standard stuff.

  9. Postpublished at 36 mins

    Barcelona 1-0 Eibar

Eibar look like they're happy taking a 1-0 scoreline into the break, focusing more on staying compact than chasing an equaliser to put the home crowd on edge.

I believe the technical term for this approach is 'make sure you're in it with 10 minutes to go'.

    Barcelona 1-0 Eibar

Barca boss Quique Setien has overseen more games against Eibar in all competitions than any other side.

He's actually lost three of his last five games against them.

But then, he didn't always have Lionel Messi in his team...

    Barcelona 1-0 Eibar

And just like that, Eibar launch a rare attack.

It culminates in Gonzalo Escalante firing a half-volley from the box, though it travels comfortably over Marc-Andre ter Stegen's goal.

    Barcelona 1-0 Eibar

Despite the scoreline and the possession stats, Barcelona have still only had two shots on target so far - the same as Eibar.

Barca can't afford to relax too much, and come forward but Ivan Rakitic's pass finds Lionel Messi in an offside position.

  13. Postpublished at 24 mins

    Barcelona 1-0 Eibar

Things have settled down now, with Barcelona looking to draw Eibar out and catch them on the break.

Eibar have played more La Liga games without winning against Barcelona than against any other opponent.

  14. Postpublished at 21 mins

    Barcelona 1-0 Eibar

Eibar force a corner but it's well cleared by Gerard Pique and there's no trouble for Barcelona.

The Barca players look much more relaxed following that opener.

Ian: Subsequent to the recent contretemps between Messi and his boss things have settled down. Suitably reproved, Messi is now playing less selfishly, allowing other players such as Griezemann to have a share of the glory for one. Accordingly the team is doing better

    Like, he is SO good.

There's football being played, but I'm still replaying that Messi goal in my mind for now.

  18. goal

GOAL - Barcelona 1-0 Eibarpublished at 15 mins

    Lionel Messi

That is simply sensational from Lionel Messi.

The only player who seems to be completely at the races today so far for the hosts has produced a moment of typical Messi magic to put Barca ahead.

With his back to goal, he nutmegs one defender, battles past another and then chips the goalkeeper for good measure.

Where would they actually be without him?

  19. Postpublished at 15 mins

    Barcelona 0-0 Eibar

Lionel Messi has taken it upon himself to get Barcelona going here and again forces the issue as he runs towards the edge of the box, but his cut-back fails to find a team-mate.

Eibar defending really well in numbers.

  20. Postpublished at 13 mins

    Barcelona 0-0 Eibar

After Eibar's positive start, Barcelona have quickly amassed over 70% possession.

It could be a rather tiring afternoon for the visitors if this continues.
