Goals inside the opening 10 minutes of Championship games are such a rarity these days...

It's almost exactly three months since Wigan slipped into the Championship's relegation zone.

The Latics could escape the bottom three with victory at Reading, although they'd also need Middlesbrough to fall to a heavy defeat by Leeds.

Paul Cook's men go into the game at the Madejski Stadium off the back of three wins and two draws in their past six matches.

They face a Reading team who have won just two league games in 2020 and are without a home win since Boxing Day.

Here we go then.

Wednesday were seconds away from winning at Birmingham on Saturday before Scott Hogan's stoppage time equaliser condemned them to a seventh straight league game without victory.

The Addicks recorded a crucial win over fellow strugglers Luton at the weekend but with the bottom three teams all picking up results over the last few weeks they know they need to make the most of opportunities like this one.

Blackburn have gone about their business quietly this season, but just one defeat in their past eight matches has seen them move to within sight of the top six.

Victory against Stoke would take them within two points of the play-off places.

Meanwhile, the Potters inability to string a set of decent results together has seen them remain in relegation trouble.

A heavy defeat at Ewood Park coupled with a Wigan victory at Reading could see Michael O'Neill's side drop into the bottom three.

A meeting of two mid-table teams at The Den sees out-of-form Millwall host in-form Birmingham.

The Lions' play-off hopes have diminished in recent weeks following one victory in six, while Blues are unbeaten in 11 games in all competitions.

If I was a betting man, I'd put my money on a draw. Too tough to call.

Fulham fans will be hoping their side puts on a better show than last time out at Craven Cottage when they fell to a shock 3-0 defeat by lowly Barnsley.

But with the Championship's top scorer Aleksandar Mitrovic still firing and a chance to move third with victory, things aren't all that bad in west London.

Tonight's opponents Swansea are hovering outside the play-off zone but finding wins hard to come by.

Saturday's 3-1 victory against Huddersfield ended a run of five games without a win.

Barnsley's survival hopes looked as good as over a couple of weeks ago after a run of five games without a win left them nine points adrift of safety.

However, back-to-back wins have breathed new life into their battle to avoid immediate relegation back to League One.

They'll be hopeful of making it three victories on the spin against a Hull side who are in danger of getting dragged into the relegation battle themselves.

The Tigers lost top scorer Jarrod Bowen and star winger Kamil Grosicki in January and are without a win since New Year's Day.

To say that Middlesbrough are struggling for form right now would be an understatement.

Boro have played the division's bottom three in their past three games, taken one point and recorded three shots on target across the trio of matches.

Jonathan Woodgate's men are now winless since 1 January and defeat by Leeds, coupled with a Wigan win at Reading, could see them slip into the relegation zone.

So it's less than ideal for them that they face a promotion-chasing Leeds side who have recovered well from their own recent bad form to record successive wins.

Victory for the Whites, who hammered Boro 4-0 at Elland Road in November, could see them finish the day six points clear of third.

Leeds will have to do without midfielder Kalvin Phillips who has been ruled out with a knock picked up in the win over Reading on Saturday.

Leaders West Brom continued their march towards top-flight football with a 2-0 win over play-off chasing Preston at The Hawthorns.

The Baggies are now 10 points clear of third.

Luton moved off the bottom with an impressive 2-1 victory against high-flying Brentford, while Bristol City's own play-off ambitions were dealt a blow at Huddersfield with defeat.

Nottingham Forest moved up to third following a one-goal victory at Cardiff and QPR beat Derby thanks to Ilias Chair's winner.

Barnsley may have recorded back-to-back wins, but Luton's upturn in fortunes over the last couple of weeks and last night's surprise victory against Brentford saw the Tykes fall to the bottom.

Victory tonight at a Hull side which has not won since New Year's Day would keep them in touch of safety.

Stoke, Middlesbrough and Wigan all play this evening and any one of the three could end the night in the relegation zone.
