  1. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 42 mins

    Newport 0-1 Mansfield

Newport appeal for a spot-kick but nothing coming, as Neal Bishop popped his hand out to block a Matt Dolan shot.

Mike Flynn can be encouraged through, it's not necessarily pretty but his side are really digging in on that Mansfield penalty area.

    Non-stop pressure.

    Newport 0-1 Mansfield

Newport swarm around the referee in the next break in play. He's been 'deep in dialogue' let's say.

Robbie Willmott stings a shot into a Mansfield defender, blocked. Then Mansfield break...

Jacob Mellis skips down the right, before wildly swinging one over the bar. Looks at the pitch. No excuses there chum.

    Ha, scratch that.

    Not a free-kick.

Offside, and Charles Breakspear is roundly jeered by the home crowd.

    Newport 0-1 Mansfield

Free-kick to Newport in good territory here, all from another raking ball forward. Jamille Matt is fouled by Krystian Pearce to hand County the opportunity.

Becoming a bit of a battle that one.

    Newport 0-1 Mansfield

Mansfield scrabble in the box to push the ball away but the Newport surge means it keeps coming back.

The home side apply the pressure, drilling the ball into the box and they're the team in the ascendancy.

However, Mansfield have looked sharp on the break, and Tyler Walker is keeping the defence on its toes.

    Newport 0-1 Mansfield

This game is rattling on at a pace.

Newport fly forward, the ball is sent in behind and Krystian Pearce smashes it away, out of the ground.

Ball into the Stags box again, overruns everyone and is hooked away.

Michael Flynn will want his side to be a bit sharper in the final third.

  7. GREAT SAVE!published at 32 mins

    Newport 0-1 Mansfield

CONRAD LOGAN SAVES! Jamille Matt is stunned!

A foul by Ryan Sweeney earns Newport a free-kick, Matt Dolan whips it in and after a flick on it looks goalbound but Matt's touch is turned over the top by a sensational one-handed save. Gordon Banks against Pele style.

  8. Postpublished at 31 mins

    Newport 0-1 Mansfield

That was a chance! Mansfeld midfielder Jacob Mellis gets away on the right side of the box as he ekes out a bit of space but his drive flies high and wide.

"Not at all handsome," as John Motson used to say on the France '98 game.

    Newport 0-1 Mansfield

Mickey Demetrious's throws have been a weapon. One was hurled into the box and flicked on but Mansfield cleared.

Newport switch off as they seek to recycle it though but the through-ball from Danny Rose to Tyler Walker goes straight through to Joe Day.

    Newport 0-1 Mansfield

Tackles continue to fly in. Both sides have some creative midfield-types but this is a game for scrappers right now.

You'd like to see someone find some time and space in midfield, but it's not happening yet.

As Rory was saying at #bbcefl tonight, this surface is causing problems. There was a bobble a minute ago that caught Matt Dolan out - just popped up out of nowhere. Like a rat on the 'Splat a Rat' game.

    Newport 0-1 Mansfield

Conrad Logan by the way has a hairdo to match the luminous yellow of his goalie kit. Mansfield in an unusual shade of green as Newport's gold clashes with their regular strip.

Newport are caught out by the swift movement of Tyler Walker over the top and the ball is banged out for a throw.

He's the outlet. No doubt about it.

Rory Clifford: Somebody want to tell the Mansfield players to put some studs in. Falling all over the place....

  13. Postpublished at 23 mins

    Newport 0-1 Mansfield

Newport force a bit of pressure on the Mansfield box, who are forced to concede a corner.

Then the ball is flicked on by Jamille Matt but Conrad Logan nips out to gather.

Home side enjoying a bit of joy by shovelling the ball long, trying to catch Mansfield in behind.

Dan Butler clubs a ball into the box, down the middle, and Padraig Amond takes a heavy clattering in the back which leaves him on the floor. Tasty. Up now. Good to see.

  14. Postpublished at 19 mins

    Newport 0-1 Mansfield

Jacob Mellis and Josh Sheehan tussle in midfield, and the Stags midfielder hits the deck.

Free-kick. Newport need to cut out the indiscipline.

BBC Sport Wales at Rodney Parade

What a terrific start David Flitcroft's side have made at Rodney Parade. If they are hungover from missing out on automatic promotion, we certainly haven't seen any signs so far.

The Stags are first to every ball and Tyler Walker is terrifying the Newport defence.

Mansfield are playing at 100 mph and Newport are struggling big time to deal with their intensity.

    Newport 0-1 Mansfield

    Impetus with Mansfield then.

Newport pressed on the back of conceding that goal, and looked to building a swift move, but then CJ Hamilton tumbles under a challenge and the free-kick goes against the Welsh side.

    Rodney Parade is seething.

Jamille Matt showing a bit of pace and skills brings the ball out of backfield, but he's shrugged off it in midfield. Tackles snap in. It's not a place for the faint-hearted at present.

  17. goal

GOAL: Newport 0-1 Mansfieldpublished at 12 mins

    CJ Hamilton

Super break by Mansfield Town and they make the breakthrough.

Mickey Demetriou's throw is pinched by the Stags and they are off, the ball goes out wide left to Jacob Mellis and he cuts inside and drives toward the box.

CJ Hamilton is hovering on his shoulder, takes the pass and from an acute angle thrashes a rip-snorter into the roof of the net. Thunderous.

David Flitcroft's face tells the story. Beaming. That's what Mansfield needed.

    Newport 0-0 Mansfield

Newport turn defence into attack on the back of a Mansfield corner, and it takes some smart work from Gethin Jones to swoop on the ball as Padraig Amond chased forward and mop up.

Both sides contributing to a fizzy tempo. It's all a bit harum-scarum at the moment. Danny Rose was dragged to the floor by Mark O'Brien... he's got to be careful. Already on a yellow.

    Newport 0-0 Mansfield

Jacob Mellis smashes a shot into the wall from the resulting free-kick. Disappointing hit. Went for power and Newport just stood firm.

There's a nice open feel to the game though, that said you might argue that Mansfield have made the better start. It's getting feisty.

  20. YELLOW CARDpublished at 5 mins

    Newport 0-0 Mansfield

How has Newport skipper Mark O'Brien stayed on the field? Mansfield manage to work the ball into Tyler Walker, who flicks on the turbo as he tries to get away but O'Brien brings him down on the edge of the box.

Referee awards a free-kick, but only dishes out the yellow. Lucky boy.
