South Africa are playing in the Women's World Cup for the first time, but have lost both matches.

They were beaten 3-1 by Spain in their opener, with Jennifer Hermoso scoring two penalties - and followed that up with a 1-0 defeat by China.

Banyana Banyana need a lot to go their way to reach the last 16 - namely beating Germany, hoping one of Spain or China win their game, making up some goal difference and then hoping two other third-placed teams finish with a worse record.

Germany, ranked second in the world, have won both their opening games, but in unspectacular fashion.

Teenager Giulia Gwinn scored on her first competitive appearance against China in the opener - and then Sara Daebritz scored the only goal against Spain.

But with Spain and China playing each other today, it means Germany are guaranteed a top-two spot - and will win Group B unless they suffer a surprise defeat today.

Elsewhere in this group, China are playing Spain. You can follow that one here.

I'll try to keep you up to date with that because the scoreline could have ramifications for Germany and South Africa.

Both sides make changes from their last games - three for Germany, four for South Africa.

Klara Buhl is in up front and Melanie Leupolz and Lina Magull start in central midfield for Germany. Kathrin Hendrich, Lena Goessling and Lena Oberdorf are benched.

South Africa bring in goalkeeper Andile Dlamini, left-back Nothando Vilakazi, midfielder Busiswe Ndimeni and winger Amanda Mthandi.

Kaylin Swart, Sibulele Holweni, Bambanani Mbane and Thembi Kgatlana are dropped.

Two relatively uninspiring but efficient 1-0 wins from Germany have ensured their qualification and they will top Group B if they avoid defeat against minnows South Africa.

Bottom side South Africa will be out if Spain and China's match in Le Havre ends in a draw, but if it does not, Banyana Banyana have a slim chance of going through if they beat the Germans on Monday, and then results in other groups go in their favour.

Spain will be assured of second spot in the group if they draw with China, who themselves know a draw would guarantee them one of the best third-place spots, while either of them could yet win the group if Germany fall to a surprise loss.
