Absolutely top-class goal from Scott Brown. He puffs the chest out, the fans love him, he's signed the new contract and this is the icing on the cake for him. He's saying 'I'm still here, I'm still the man, I'm still captain'. Outstanding

Great play by Ollie Burke, I was thinking why did he not shoot? He tries to square it to Sinclair. It's a tight angle for him. But it's terrific football from Celtic in terms of the combination and the pace

  7. goal

GOAL Celtic 1-0 St Johnstonepublished at 3mins

    Scott Sinclair

It had been a fairly subdued start, but it's not looking good for St Johnstone after only three minutes as Scott Sinclair slots in the opener from a difficult angle.

New on-loan signing from Borussia Dortmund Jeremy Toljan sets Oliver Burke powering through a gap in the centre of the visiting defence.

The West Brom winger has been in fine scoring form but elects to play it across the face of goal and Sinclair finishes it off.

Zander Clark has been St Johnstone's hero against Celtic in recent games, but the goalkeeper won't be happy at being beaten at his near post.

  10. 'We know size of task' - Wrightpublished at 13:29 GMT 10 February 2019

    Celtic v St Johnstone (13:30)

St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright tells Premier Sports: “Hopefully we can press Celtic higher up the pitch, more so than we did the last time.

“We want to win the game, but we know the size of the task. They’ve won 24 Scottish Cup ties in a row, they’ve won two trebles back to back and they’re playing as well as they have done for a long time.

“So it’s going to be a difficult game, but we’ve got to try and take care of the ball.

“We did that at home, our possession was up about 10% than what we were last time, so we have to get up to about 40% possession to give us an opportunity to create opportunities against them, because we feel we can score against them.”

Celtic are in phenomenal form, banging in the goals and not losing any. St Johnstone are off the boil. Celtic know how to play against St Johnstone, know what to expect, so you would expect them to win relatively comfortably here today. I see St Johnstone defending for their lives, making it as tight as possible and trying to stay in the game for as long as they can

    Celtic v St Johnstone (13:30)

Brendan Rodgers is looking for the same again as his Celtic side face St Johnstone once again.

"We’re hoping it’s what it’s been for most of the games against St Johnstone - we’ve played very well in the games," he tells BBC Radio Scotland.

"You have to do all the dirty work, defend very strong, press the game well and then our style and hopefully the quality of our game comes through.

"Today, it’s another game that reveals the character of your team.

"You’re playing a team for the fifth time, you’re expected to win. It’s a home game and we’re expected to win here."

  17. Deja vu in Glasgowpublished at 13:04 GMT 10 February 2019

    Celtic v St Johnstone (13:30)

It's the third meeting between Celtic and St Johnstone within 11 days and their fifth meeting this season.

And the statistics are massively in the home side's favour.

Celtic have won all four meetings this season without losing a goal and finding the net 11 times.

Saints have not won on their last seven visits to Celtic Park since March 2015.

Relative form doesn't hint at a change to that trend, with the visitors from Perth on a run of four straight defeats while Celtic have won six in a row.
