Daniel Fine: While Nuno deserves to be in the conversation, if Neil Warnock keeps Cardiff up he has to get manager of the season.

  10. Chance & near chance!published at 6 mins

    Wolves 0-0 Newcastle

Jonny plays a diagonal ball intended for Raul Jimenez but it just goes beyond the Mexican striker who slides in at the far post. The Magpies gave the ball away cheaply there, for about 1p in today's money.

Meanwhile, at the other end Newcastle's top scorer Salomon Rondon gets a low shot away which Rui Patricio saves down low.

Since Mike Ashley took charge of Newcastle in 2007, the Magpies have managed just three top 10 finishes in 11 seasons. And have only finished higher than 10th once.

    Wolves v Newcastle (20:00 GMT)

    Mark Lawrenson
    Ex-Liverpool defender

Of all the teams chasing seventh place, Wolves are definitely the most consistent in terms of performances and I can see them getting a fourth straight win on Monday night.

    Prediction: 2-1

    (Well that's us told.)

Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez: "Wolves are doing well. They may be newly promoted but they spent more than £100m. They have champions of Europe and internationals in their side.

"We want to get three points regardless. Every game is a final for us."

    Wolves v Newcastle (20:00 GMT)

Nuno Espirito SantoImage source, Getty Images

Wolverhampton Wanderers have never managed to win four Premier League games on the trot before so tonight is a big opportunity to put that right.

Albeit head coach Nuno Espirito Santo plays everything with a hint of excitement with a straight bat at times:

"We're not here for the records, we're not here for that," he said.

"What we are here for is to improve, to work as a team, stay humble and work hard, trying to achieve the best performance that we can in every game.

"You can see by their last performances that Newcastle are very organised, very compact and with good players."

  20. Deja vu for Newcastlepublished at 19:51 GMT 11 February 2019

    Wolves v Newcastle (20:00 GMT)

Wolves are going great guns in the best of the rest league, otherwise known as the race for seventh.

But for Newcastle fans, this season uncannily bears the hallmarks of their last two in the top-flight - struggling to stave off the threat of relegation.

Like those campaigns, Newcastle have 24 points from 25 games (at least they are consistent) and by my reckoning they will need at least four wins and possibly a draw or two from their last 13 games to survive.
