"Leighton Baines is not a confrontational person, maybe that's Phil Jagielka's job as captain to step in and remind Kevin Mirallas who takes the penalties."
How will Everton fare without one of their better attacking players in this half? The first 45 minutes was hardly brimming with chances, and with even less creativity in the side it would be a surprise if there are in this half. If, and I stress if, Kevin Mirallas was taken off for going against team orders and taking that penalty, should captain Phil Jagielka have taken more command of the situation?
Romelu Lukaku shrugs off Joleon Lescott to race into the box, he has a go at goal but his shot is blocked, before Gareth Barry is fouled just outside the area as he tries to get the ball back in. No Kevin Mirallas, so Ross Barkley takes the free-kick and it is poor.
Daniel Woodley:, external Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy should put in another enquiry for Kevin Mirallas tomorrow morning...
Very good shielding from the West Brom defence as they force Everton out wide and Seamus Coleman's cross is easy pickings for Craig Gardner. Bryan Oviedo is then booked soon after for a foul on Gardner.
Gareth Barry has a yellow card waved at him after a cynical foul on Saido Berahino. West Brom then win a corner, but it is cleared.
Aidan Williams:, external Hard, but good on Martinez. That missed penalty could cost three very valuable points. Good managing.
Romelu Lukaku is almost in when Joleon Lescott miscontrols a Seamus Coleman ball forward. Luckily for West Brom, it runs through to Gareth McAuley, who clears.

"Kevin Mirallas has been taken off. He didn't appear to be injured. I wonder if he's been subbed because he wanted to take the penalty ahead of Leighton Baines and has been brought off for ignoring the manager's instructions?"
Interesting. Very interesting. Kevin Mirallas, who missed that penalty, does not emerge for the second half with Bryan Oviedo replacing him.

"This is the type of game that I want Ross Barkley to grab the game by the scruff of the neck and change things. I haven't seen him try to beat a man, or produce that piece of genius."
QPR striker Charlie Austin:, external Penalty taker should always take the pens. Baines is the penalty taker - 15/16 pens scored in the Prem when he is on the pitch, he should always take.
Joe Golby:, external Film extras are paid £80+ per day, I hope all the fans will be invoicing Sylvester Stallone after the game.
Given the lack of enthusiasm to clap on request, I'll be surprised if the half-time efforts make the cut...

"Maybe Sylvester Stallone will explain that nonsensical decision to let Kevin Mirallas take that during his half-time Goodison video address."
Earlier we asked for you to vote on whether you thought Saido Berahino will stay at West Brom this season, or leave. The vote is closed and 52.9% reckon Berahino will stay at the Baggies.

"I have no idea why Leighton Baines didn't take it. You have just got to think that Kevin Mirallas, given how impressive he was against West Ham, is the form man and wanted it. But if I am Baines with his record I'd say 'no, I'm taking it'."
Ash Goldsmith:, external You just do not take a penalty away from Leighton Baines and then miss it. Wow.
Chris Mitchell:, external Can't believe Martinez will be happy that Baines didn't take that pen. That's when you need your skipper stepping in.
Sylvester Stallone pops up on the big screen again but I'm not sure how keen Everton fans are to see him. There has been nothing for them to clap about in terms of performance on the pitch. It will take all the power of Rocky Balboa to get them in the mood for spontaneous applause.
Cameras are set up on the centre circle and a film crew type is valiantly try to whip up the crowd, before shrugging his shoulders in frustration. It's not happening for the poor fella.
