What a game of hurling we have been treated to today, but it's Limerick who grab a second piece of silverware of the year after denying Cork the league crown earlier this year.

While the Rebels will be disappointed, they will now have their eyes on the ultimate prize as the race for the Liam MacCarthy Cup heats up.

Could we see another instalment of this rivalry before the summer is over? Quite possibly, but there is plenty of hurling to be played before the end of July.

Cork will now face Offaly in a fortnight for a place in the last four against Galway, while Limerick can sit back and wait for the first weekend in July when they meet either Clare or Dublin.

Next week it's back to the football championship, but for now, enjoy the rest of your Sunday.

  2. 'We're over the moon' - Quaidpublished at 16:07 BST

    FT: Cork 2-17 Limerick 1-21

Man of the Match Nickie Quaid speaking to RTÉ: “It’s a huge relief to get it over the line, an incredible feeling.

“We lost the Munster final last year on penalties, but we parked it at the start of the year and made sure we didn’t let it go to extra-time again.

“Obviously, you use previous games to fuel you. It’s no different from any other team and we’re over the moon.

“Conditions were tough with the wind and rain, but the breeze in the second half helped us from puck-outs. We managed it well and got it short to use the ball very effectively.”

On Peter Casey’s impact: “It’s incredible what Peter has done, and I’m not really sure why he isn’t standing here, to be honest — he was immense in that last 15 minutes.”

On the rivalry with Cork: “They’re an exceptional team, and it’s very small margins on the day. We got a bit of luck and we’re delighted to be on the right side of it today.”
