Armagh v Tyrone - Ulster Ladies Senior Final (14:00 BST)

As well as the featured Tyrone senior side’s All-Ireland opener against Roscommon, we will also be keeping a close eye on the Red Hands ladies as they face Armagh in this afternoon’s Ulster final at Owenbeg.

The sides met just two weeks ago on 10 May, when Tyrone claimed top spot in the Ulster Senior Championship round-robin with a 1-10 to 0-8 victory over the Orchard County at Healy Park.

However, both managers have significantly reshuffled their line-ups for tonight’s decider. Darren McCann retains just six starters from that win, with Grainne McKenna, Caitlin Campbell, Emer McCanny, Meabh Mallon, Aoife Horisk and Niamh O’Neill all keeping their places.

Armagh boss Greg McGonigle has also rung the changes, naming a side showing 11 alterations from the defeat in Omagh, with only Maeve Ferguson, Cait Towe, Elise Druse and Kelly Mallon retained.

Armagh: Brianna Mathers; Maeve Ferguson, Clodagh McCambridge, Cait Towe; Emily Druse, Lauren McConville, Grace Ferguson; Christina O’Reilly, Blaithin Mackin; Catherine Marley, Aoife McCoy, Caoimhe McNally; Aimee Mackin, Caroline O’Hanlon, Kelly Mallon.

Subs: Cailin Traynor, Alana Donnelly, Lara Marsden, Maeve Lennon, Niamh Reel, Mallaidh Loughran, Eva Cassidy, Eimear McConaghy, Sarah Quigley, Cassie Henderson, Erin Melanophy.

Tyrone: Laura Kane; Jayne Hearty, Grainne McKenna, Eimear Quinn; Claire Canavan, Meabh Corrigan, Caitlin Campbell; Meabh Mallon, Aoibhinn McHugh; Slaine McCarroll, Chloe McCaffrey, Emer McCanny; Niamh O’Neill, Sorcha Gormley, Aoife Horisk.

Subs: Amelia Coyle, Ciara Colton, Joanne Barrett, Cara McNamee, Elle McNamee, Maeve Maxwell, Emma McCrossan, Katie Rose Muldoon, Cara McCoubrey, Aoife Quinn, Emma Conroy, Caitlin McCallion, Aine Strain.

Yesterday, Donegal dominated a bad-tempered affair in Killarney to move into Round 2A of the All-Ireland SFC with a 2-20 to 0-16 win.

Kerry's Micheal Burns was sent off before the start of the second half for a strike on Ryan McHugh at the end of the first with Donegal powering clear of the 14 men in the second half.

There was better news for 14 men in Cork as the Rebels came through a thriller against Meath in Páirc Uí Rinn 0-30 to 1-24, while Galway were 3-21 to 0-17 victors over Kildare in Salthill.

  3. Perfect day for footballpublished at 13:51 BST 24 May

The sun is shining, there's barely a breeze (as things stand, this is the west of Ireland) and the pitch is like a carpet fit for the Oscars.

Roscommon as a county are football mad and they're bouncing into today's clash after winning the Connacht title at this very venue a fortnight ago against Galway.

The locals are starting to believe that this team can break the mould and they're starting to dream of big days in Croke Park.

For Tyrone, it's been a long six weeks watching, waiting in the long grass after their Ulster preliminary round defeat to Armagh.

Will that break prove to be too long to recover from in order to stop the Roscommon momentum, or will the Connacht champions add to their big championship wins over Mayo and Galway by taking the scalp of the Red Hands.

  4. Roscommon a 'full force' for Tyrone - Loganpublished at 13:47 BST 24 May

Roscommon v Tyrone; Armagh v Tyrone [14:00 BST]

Former Tyrone joint-boss Feargal Logan says he hopes the Red Hands will "turn up big" in Sunday's All-Ireland opener against Roscommon.

Malachy O'Rourke's side will return to action at Dr Hyde Park [14:00 BST], over a month on from their Ulster Championship preliminary round exit at the hands of eventual winners Armagh.

They face a Roscommon side who won the Connacht title this month and Logan, who won the Sam Maguire as a player and manager, believes the Rossies will provide stern opposition, even if Tyrone come in fresher.

"It's a big one for Tyrone, everyone is on the starting line this weekend and next in the hunt for Sam. Tyrone will hopefully turn up big this Sunday," he told BBC Sport NI.

"Roscommon have always had superb forwards, they have added to their supporting cast, around their back and their keeper has been well tightened up, so Roscommon are a full force and ought to be challenging around semi-finals and finals of the All-Ireland stage.

"Sometimes sitting back and watching others empty themselves out, [in latter rounds of the provincial championships] all the injuries and suspensions and stuff comes with it is good, but momentum is still key in sport."

Armagh v Tyrone - Ulster Ladies Senior final (14:00)

    Faith Harper
    BBC Sport NI at Owenbeg

It's massive day for Tyrone ladies as they appear in their first Ulster Senior final since 2013.

The 2025 Intermediate All-Ireland champions will be coming into this fixture with a healthy dose of confidence and belief after defeating both Donegal and Armagh in the round robin to secure their spot in the final, albeit they faced a weakened Orchard side who were without captain Lauren McConville.

Today, they'll be facing an experienced Armagh team who are aiming for three Ulster titles in a row.

It should be a good one!

  8. McDonagh Cup latestpublished at 13:37 BST 24 May

Roscommon v Tyrone; Armagh v Tyrone [14:00 BST]

In the Joe McDonagh Cup, Carlow are already through to the final, so this afternoon will decide who joins the Barrowsiders in the final.

Laois have their destiny in their own hands, needing only to avoid defeat by London in Ruislip and approaching half-time they lead 0-14 to 0-10.

Should they slip up, then there is an opportunity for Antrim or Down to slip into second place should they both win, leaving points difference to split the teams.

Both Ulster sides are ahead with Down 1-11 to 0-9 ahead at home to Westmeath, while Antrim are 2-16 to 0-9 up against Carlow.

  9. Tyrone GAA legend McGuigan dies aged 71published at 13:33 BST 24 May

In some sad news to bring you today, former Tyrone forward Frank McGuigan, widely regarded as one of the county's finest footballers, has died at the age of 71.

The Ardboe club-man captained the Red Hands to the 1973 Ulster title in just his second year in the senior panel at the age of 19.

After returning home in 1983 following six years in the United States, he famously scored 11 of Tyrone's 15 points in the 1984 Ulster final win over Armagh in what became known as 'The Frank McGuigan final'.

A builder by trade, McGuigan's performance in the '84 final helped earn him an All-Star, but his career was prematurely ended that year by a car crash that shattered his right leg.

In addition to his achievements at inter-county level, McGuigan won four Tyrone SFC titles with Ardboe.

His four sons - Frank Jnr, Brian, Tommy, and Shay - all followed in his footsteps by representing Tyrone and won five All-Ireland medals between them.

Good afternoon and welcome to a busy day in the world of Gaelic games.

We have All-Ireland SFC action, an Ulster Ladies final and some hurling to keep you up to speed with, so there is plenty to get the teeth into.

In Dr Hyde Park, the last of this weekend's All-Ireland SFC round one games takes place as Connacht champions Roscommon host a Tyrone side that has been out of action since losing an Ulster preliminary round game to Armagh in extra-time.

The Red Hands' ladies are also in action as they face Armagh, while it's the final round of round robin fixtures in the Joe McDonagh Cup with Antrim and Down still hopeful of joining Carlow in the final.

With so much to get through, we'll get cracking...
