Restart under way and George Russell gets a clean getaway in the Mercedes to stay in the lead of this sprint. Charles Leclerc is second and Lando Norris is third but Kimi Antonelli is complaining to his pit wall that Oscar Piastri overtook him before the line.
Cadillac's Perez has been noted for a safety car infringement, as his team-mate Valtteri Bottas has retired from this short sprint race with a loss of power.
Nico Hulkenberg's Audi is being taken away, so we should be going racing once again...
Norris has got ahead of Hamilton because Hamilton had to stack behind Charles Leclerc. So he is slow into the pits, while Ferrari service Leclerc and I think we have a similar situation for Oscar Piastri who stacked behind Norris and that's why he has dropped down to eighth.
Liam Lawson and Oliver Bearman have gained a few places under this safety, as the pair both stayed out when the safety car was called.
George Russell leads, Charles Leclerc is second, Lando Norris is third and Lewis Hamilton sits in fourth where he started this sprint. All four have switched to the softs.
The safety car has emerged and drivers dive into the pits. Kimi Antonelli completed a move on Charles Leclerc to retake the second place he started in but it looks like he's serving his 10-second time penalty now. He comes out and rejoins the action in seventh place.

All that work of George Russell getting a five second lead has now effectively come to nothing. This is music to Ferrari's ears, Charles Leclerc has the opportunity.

Lap 12/19
After a frantic couple of laps, just like in Melbourne, George Russell has peeled off into the distance and is leading comfortably heading into the closing stages.
The two McLarens are fifth and sixth - Lando Norris is clear of Oscar Piastri - while rookie Arvid Lindblad has been told to retire the Racing Bulls.

For me it was fantastic racing between two world class, two of the best out there. I wouldn't want to be Fred Vasseur. Great to see so much action, great to see so many overtakes early on in the race. This is what I think F1 is missing. We can say we are not happy with the cars or regulations currently, but what a great advertisement for F1, the first 10 laps has been in China.
Kimi Antonelli has had an eventful sprint race in China. The Italian started on the front row but another slow start saw him tumble down the order. He's back up into third, with a 10-second time penalty, and is hustling Charles Leclerc for second.
Liam Lawson has moved his Racing Bulls into the points places and noe occupies that final spot in eighth. Oliver Bearman is also sitting with points in his hands in seventh.
Kimi Antonelli is chasing down Lewis Hamilton and takes a little peep at the hairpin but decides against a move. Harvest that energy and go again.

I think it was the right thing by Ferrari, whether it was a call to let Charles Leclerc through, he looks much quicker in this phase of the race, can he now get after George Russell. I think George is up the road and gone now.

The two Ferraris are battling it out for second place on track at the Shanghai International Circuit. Lewis Hamilton's front left tyre is in pain but he's still taking the fight to Charles Leclerc for second spot. The Monegasque driver stays put, but this tussle puts Kimi Antonelli, who has gained another place, into play.

Really weak start from Max Verstappen. He would have been so livid in the car, just thinking what is going on? Isack Hadjar, his team-mate, is going quite well up in P8.

Lewis Hamilton put up a decent fight to challenge George Russell but the scrap may have hurt his tyres, and now Charles Leclerc goes in for the overtake and passes the seven-time world champion for second.

It's never a dull moment when Kimi Antonelli is racing and now the Italian has been given a 10-second time penalty for causing a collision with the Red Bull of Isack Hadjar. He has, though, overtaken world champion Lando Norris for fourth.
George Russell is starting to create a little bit of daylight between himself and Lewis Hamilton, who is now under pressure from his team-mate Charles Leclerc. Russell is 1.2secs clear of Hamilton, while his team-mate Kimi Antonelli has passed Oscar Piastri for fifth place.
