Sheffield Wednesday boss Henrik Pedersen said his side can take pride in their performance despite losing 3-1 away against Hull.

"We were top in the first half," Pedersen said. "We competed at a very high level.

"One of the reasons they are in the top six as that they are so strong in transition and high on the press – I think we handled that in a good way.

"We want to play with risks, but at the same time we had to think about defending against Hull in transition.

"It was a big theme before the game, and in many of the situations we handled it really well, but we were not good enough in two of the situations and that led to two goals.

"After their equaliser we came back strong, but to concede an own goal like that was tough for the boys.

"It hurts, but the reaction from the boys with how we came back in the game showed me that they never give up.

"They put everything on the pitch what they were able to do."

Hull City will aim to retain their place in the top six when they host bottom side Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday (15:00 GMT).

The Tigers are only three points ahead of seventh placed Wrexham, with a poorer goal difference than the Red Dragons and sixth placed Southampton.

The side are currently in the worst form of the three teams too, having lost three of their past four league matches (W1), but relegated Wednesday have only managed to bag one point from their past 15 Championship games.

• Hull lost this exact fixture against Sheffield Wednesday last season (0-2 in November 2024), while only once previously have they lost consecutive home league matches versus the Owls (April 2005).

• Since winning 2-0 at Hull last season, Sheffield Wednesday have gone winless in all six of their Championship matches against sides from Yorkshire and the Humber, losing five of them (D1).

• Hull have lost three of their last four Championship matches (W1), as many defeats as they had suffered in their previous 15 combined (W10 D2 L3).

• Sheffield Wednesday are winless in their last 32 league matches (D8 L24); the longest streak without a win by any side in England's top four tiers since Macclesfield, in a run ending in October 2018 (36).

• Oli McBurnie has netted 13 goals for Hull in the Championship this season; only once has he scored more in a single league campaign in his career (22 for Swansea in 2018-19).

Sheffield Wednesday manager Henrik Pedersen was proud of his side's efforts against promotion-chasing Ipswich in their 2-0 defeat.

Wednesday threatened to back up their midweek draw with their first point at Hillsborough since December 29 before Ipswich scored two late goals.

The Owls also showed more in attack and Pedersen felt his side did well against such a difficult opponent.

He told BBC Radio Sheffield: "It was a tough, tough game against a very, very strong opponent. They are a strong, strong team with a fantastic manager. With this cocktail, we all knew it would be a big challenge today.

"But I think from the first moment we showed that the boys really tried. We also saw in the first 10 minutes, there was some tiredness in their bodies and then we worked into the game. I think we played a really, really strong first half.

"Then second half, we really had some challenges to make the correction for their tactical changes. We did this and we had a really good period again.

"Then we had a difficult period up to the goal where we won the ball, we lost the ball and then you could feel it was difficult for us to come back."

Already relegated Sheffield Wednesday will try again to pick up a first home win of the season when they welcome Ipswich to Hillsborough on Saturday (15:00 GMT).

The Owls were denied only their second victory of the campaign when they conceded at the death to draw 1-1 with Watford last time out.

Fourth-placed Ipswich are unbeaten in five and just four points adrift of the automatic promotion spots, but have only managed to draw their past two Championship games.

• Sheffield Wednesday have lost their last three league games against Ipswich Town by an aggregate score of 10-1.

• Ipswich have only lost on two of their last 13 league visits to Sheffield Wednesday (W5 D6) and won 1-0 there on their last visit in September 2023.

• Sheffield Wednesday's last home league win on a Saturday was back in December 2024, when they beat Stoke in a 12.30pm kick off (D4 L13 since). In 3:00pm kick-offs on Saturdays, their last win at Hillsborough was in the 2023-24 season, 3-0 against West Brom in April 2024.

• Ipswich haven't won any of their away Championship games this season against sides currently in the bottom six of the table, losing at Oxford and Leicester and drawing with Blackburn.

• Ipswich Town's Jack Clarke has been involved in four goals in his last four league games against Sheffield Wednesday (3 goals, 1 assist) and scored twice on his last trip to Hillsborough for Sunderland in September 2023.

Sheffield Wednesday manager Henrik Pedersen spoke to BBC Radio Sheffield after a 90th-minute goal denied them victory against Watford.

"I'm very, very proud of the performance and I'm also happy to get a point, but I think it's maybe one of the closest performances and closest games we have had to get three points," he said.

"So on one side I'm very, very happy with the performance, proud of the performance, and then it's of course a little bit sad that they get an offside goal to draw 1-1, but most of all I'm proud.

"I think we were difficult to play against tonight."
