  1. Rangers 5-1 Kilmarnock: What Rohl saidpublished at 22:13 GMT 4 February

Danny Rohl with Jack ButlandImage source, SNS

Rangers head coach Danny Rohl: "Nice goals. We played with courage. Even after the red card, I felt we had a situation in the box with the opponent. We never played backwards.

"It's not always easy against 10 men because you have to break them down. You have to prepare, have good structure, be aware of counter attacks. In the end, the players did a fantastic job today.

"This should be the level for Mikey [Moore] again and again, and this is the next step for him. I will not speak today about individual performances, it's about the team.

"We spoke in the last two days about making more aggressive runs in behind, at the right moment, to create something. Again and again, we showed we wanted to score more and more. I love the performance today.

"We made some good decisions in the window. I knew before, not everyone from the new players will go straight into an outstanding performance. They need to adapt. Ryan [Naderi] gives us a lot of energy in front of goal. He has this fire in the eyes.

"We worked hard for the momentum. It's not overnight. We had a lot of tough opponents. Sometimes you have to accept a point, even when you're not happy. Hibs was a tough place to go. But we took the opportunity for the next three points."

  2. Will Naderi be a 'masterstroke' or a 'Christmas turkey' for Rangers?published at 16:23 GMT 4 February

    your views graphic

We asked for your thoughts on Rangers' business in the January transfer window.

Here's what some of you said:

Mike: I'm happy enough with our transfer business, and we have to accept Danny Rohl's assessment of Naderi's quality. I would have liked another centre-back, and probably a right-back as I don't think James Tavernier or Max Aarons are good enough to be automatic picks. After all transfer business has been concluded it looks like no-one has gained a clear advantage so it's still a three-horse race for the title

Elaine: Happy at this stage with hopefully a couple of defenders to come in during the summer window. The board has backed Rohl so now it's up to him to get us to the top of the league with his signings, Andreas Skov Olsen, Tochi Chukwuani, Ryan Naderi and Tuur Rommens. I think he can do that.

Bobby: Chukwuani looks nothing special so far, Olsen does not look fully fit and why let Findlay Curtis go out on loan when he has been one of Rangers' most creative players? Is it because he's Scottish? On the whole a poor window unless Naderi is something special and I worry about Youssef Chermiti leading the line in a title race.

Brian: This transfer window is traditionally seen as a difficult one to do good business in, so in light of that I think the club has excelled itself in bringing in decent additions to the squad. Naderi is an intriguing one and some might say a perplexing signing - not exactly the proven marquee signing you would hope for. He will either prove to be a masterstroke of a signing and catapult us to a league and cup double or prove to be a left-over Christmas turkey.

Sally: If new signings adapt quickly this could be good for Rangers. We have significantly improved at stopping teams scoring, now we have to get at them.

Robert: Still lack a playmaker in the middle of the park. This is something that has not been addressed for the last few years. It's okay signing a centre forward but you need to provide him with the service.

  3. 'It's in our own hands' - Meghoma confident of Rangers title challengepublished at 15:22 GMT 4 February

    Jayden MeghomaImage source, SNS

Rangers defender Jayden Meghoma praised the club's togetherness and insists the Premiership title is "in our own hands."

Danny Rohl's side are third in the table, joint on points with Celtic in second, as they prepare to host strugglers Kilmarnock tonight.

When the German took over in Glasgow Rangers were sixth in the table, 13 points behind Hearts at the top.

Going into tonight's game the gap to the leaders could be reduced to as little as three points with a victory for Rangers.

"It all comes down to us as players, our mentality and the gaffer as well," Meghoma said of the side's turnaround.

"He's really helped us get back into the spirit and I think the togetherness of the group has really helped us get back into this title race.

"We're in a fantastic position, we've clawed back into the race and it's in our own hands. It's down to us to really perform and keep pushing.

"We know what we need to do, we just need to make sure we keep working and focusing on ourselves."

    • Rangers have won each of their last nine home league meetings with Kilmarnock by an aggregate score of 25-4; it's their longest ongoing home league winning streak versus any current Scottish Premiership opponent.

    • Kilmarnock have lost 13 of their last 15 league matches against Rangers (W2), including their last four in a row all while conceding 3+ goals since a 1-0 victory in October 2024.

    • Rangers have won each of their last five home league games, after having only won four of their previous 13 beforehand (D5 L4).

    • Kilmarnock are winless in their last nine away games in the Scottish Premiership (D3 L6) since a 2-0 win at Dundee United in September.

    • Kilmarnock boss Neil McCann has managed three away league games against Rangers in his career and lost them all by an aggregate score of 12-1, each coming with Dundee from September 2017 to September 2018.

  5. Rangers 'know exactly what they have to do' in league title pushpublished at 09:39 GMT 4 February

    Behind the mic

With the transfer window now closed Rangers know exactly what they have to do to overhaul Hearts and Celtic at the top of the table to recapture the league title.

The deadline day signing of Ryan Naderi is an intriguing one. A lot of fans were crying out for another striker, with neither Youssef Chermiti nor Bojan Miovski delivering goals in huge quantities.

But I can't help thinking it was a goal creator, rather than goalscorer, that was most urgently required to aid Danny Rohl's quest for glory.

Take the Hibs game at the weekend as an example: Chermiti led the line well enough but ultimately Rangers didn't create sufficient opportunities either for him or anyone else and Raphael Sallinger was barely troubled in the home goal.

That, for me, is what will be Rangers' undoing this season unless they can solve the conundrum of how to break teams down, regardless of who is playing up front.

They badly need players like Andreas Skov Olsen to start producing the goods if they are to come out on top in the three-way contest for the title.

Olsen's pedigree is unquestionable but in his two games so far there have been no signs of the player Rangers thought they were getting.

Rangers need him to quickly find top form, starting with the game at home to Kilmarnock.

It will be interesting to see if Naderi is thrown straight into the team as Rangers aim to narrow the gap to just three points behind the leaders.

Deadline-day signing Ryan Naderi will go into the Rangers squad, paperwork permitting. Connor Barron (knee) and Derek Cornelius (muscle) are still out.

Aaron Tshibola could feature after rejoining Kilmarnock. Jamie Brandon and Max Stryjek are working their way back to fitness after lay-offs while Kyle Magennis (knee), Djenairo Daniels (knee) and Matty Kennedy (hip) remain out.

  7. Danilo seals loan move from Rangers to NEC Nijmegenpublished at 16:16 GMT 3 February

Rangers striker Danilo PereiraImage source, SNS

Rangers have confirmed Brazilian striker Danilo has left to join NEC Nijmegen on loan for the rest of the season.

The deal includes an option for NEC, who are currently third in the Eredivisie, to buy the 26-year-old.

Danilo moved to Ibrox from Feyenoord in the summer of 2023, signing a five-year deal, but was troubled by injuries and never nailed down a regular starting place.

The 26-year-old was behind Youssef Chermiti and Bojan Miovski in the pecking order at Rangers, and the deadline-day signing of Ryan Naderi from Hansa Rostock meant the club were happy for him to move on.

Danilo has scored 16 goals in 76 games for Rangers and won the League Cup with the club in 2024.

Speaking on Tuesday morning, head coach Danny Rohl had suggested the player's departure was imminent and said he was happy with the January transfer business as he reshaped his squad for the title run-in.

In addition to Naderi, the club completed deals to take winger Andreas Skov Olsen on loan, as well as sign midfielder Tochi Chukuwani and left-back Tuur Rommens on permanent deals.

Ryan Naderi, centre, has earned comparisons with Nick Woltemade, left, and Fredi Bobic

Rangers boss Danny Rohl has high hopes for "smart" deadline-day signing Ryan Naderi after revealing the striker has been compared to past and present Germany internationals Fredi Bobic and Nick Woltemade.

Naderi, 22, signed late on Monday from third-tier German club Hansa Rostock in a deal reported to be worth £4.7m.

Naderi has provided eight goals and five assists in 18 games for Rostock this season and fellow German Rohl has received glowing reports from colleagues back home.

Former Stuttgart and Borussia Dortmund striker Bobic won 37 caps for Germany and was part of the Euro 1996 winning squad, while 23-year-old Woltemade has eight caps and moved to Newastle in a club record £69m deal last summer.

Naderi could make his debut against Kilmarnock at Ibrox on Wednesday night where third-placed Rangers hope to keep the pressure on Celtic and leaders Hearts.

Rohl said: "I spoke today with some coaches from Germany and received many messages saying, 'Congratulations on a good signing.'

"They compare him with - hopefully I don't make him too big now - but they compare him between former player Fredi Bobic and Woltemade.

"If he can bring this level here, we will have a lot of fun with him. He's really smart.

"It's important that we now give him an environment and this is the big difference between maybe October and now where you have a group, they are going together and they can allow players in to make the next step."

Rohl believes Naderi's time with Rostock - despite being from the third tier of German football - will set him up for life at Ibrox.

"The good thing is that he played a lot of minutes in the last couple of weeks," he added.

"This is fantastic, because it gives me straight opportunity to put him on.

"When I was talking to him, I felt the fire straight away and the good thing is, I know Hansa Rostock a little bit better than you.

"You have 25,000, 30,000 crazy fans and that helps to prepare him for our place and this is what I like to see."

  9. Rohl on new signing Naderi, 'increased quality' in squad & title racepublished at 11:15 GMT 3 February

'We can win a lot of games' - Rangers boss Rohl

Rangers head coach Danny Rohl has been speaking to the media before Tuesday's Premiership meeting with Kilmarnock at Ibrox.

    Here are the key points:

    • Rohl is "very happy" to have recruited forward Ryan Naderi from German third-tier club Hansa Rostock, where he scored eight goals this season, for a reported fee of £4.7m after tracking the 22-year-old in the "last couple of weeks and months".

    • He adds: "It was a long process with him then finally we convinced him. I think he showed straight that he wanted to come and was very clear."

    • Rohl says Naderi provides "a lot of things we need up front" and has "played regularly a lot of minutes", which boosts Rangers, but he will need time to "adapt to a new league".

    • The head coach says Naderi is likened to former Germany forward Fredi Bobic and current national team striker Nick Woltemade, adding: "If he can bring this level here, we will have a lot of fun with him."

    • Rangers also reportedly rebuffed bids for Youssef Chermiti and Djeidi Gassama, with Rohl saying it was "crucial" to keep key players. He adds: "In nearly every position now, [we can] double up. It's not clear in every position who is the starter and who is the hunter. I think this is great. We need this challenge."

    • Overall, the head coach is "very positive" about Rangers' winter window, with four in and five out. Rohl believes the the club "reduced the numbers but we increased the quality".

    • Rohl also hinted forward Danilo and Wales winger Rabbi Matondo may yet leave Rangers soon.

    • On the title race, with "consistent" leaders Hearts capable of going nine points clear by beating St Mirren on Tuesday before Rangers and Celtic's midweek games, Rohl pointed out they still have to play the Tynecastle side twice.

    • The head coach believes Rangers "can win a lot of games until the end of the season", with 14 rounds of fixtures left.

    • While disappointed with the goalless draw at Hibs last Sunday, Rohl pointed out Easter Road is a "tough place to go" and a point there is not the end of the world.

    • He admits, though, he wants better "decision-making" and more "risk" from his attacking players.

    • There was an update on midfielder Connor Barron, with Rohl suggesting the Scotland international could be back in four weeks.

  10. Problem positions addressed - now for a return to winning wayspublished at 10:48 GMT 3 February

    Fan's voice

Rangers addressed problem positions by making four signings during the January window.

The hope is the new arrivals can all make a positive impact between now and May. I've been quite pleased with midfielder Tochi Chukwuani so far and it will take time for forward Andreas Skov Olsen to find his feet.

Hopefully we get to see new striker Rayan Naderi - who joined on deadline day - and full-back Tuur Rommens soon.

I would have liked us to get another two players in, but fans are always greedy.

A return to winning ways at home to Kilmarnock on Wednesday night is imperative after a tough week results wise.

While the loss in Porto meant nothing it compounded a European campaign that drained confidence from this group of players as soon as we went 5-0 down at half-time in Bruges.

I'm glad it's over and we will need to be a lot better prepared next season if we want to get the pre-Russell Martin European runs back.

At Easter Road on Sunday the players looked leggy. We could've played until today and still not created a clear-cut chance.

Our xG came in at 0.55, while Hibs' was 1.88; that tells you all you need to know about the match. It wasn't a great result at all, but it's one we will have to accept and move on quickly.

Obviously Skov Olsen is short of match sharpness but we were very left-side heavy when attacking. It doesn't help when Youssef Chermiti wouldn't shoot when he had made space for him - and he hung around the outside of the box in the final minutes instead of getting in there to impact the game.

Chermiti is such a weird player. He has definitely improved under Danny Rohl but he always makes the wrong runs, he isn't a striker who lives for scoring goals and he lacks the movement in the box when he gets there.

Let's see how the team bounce back at Ibrox against a Killie side who had a superb result on Saturday.

With the transfer window now shut, we want to know if you think your team have made the right moves.

Rangers signed striker Ryan Naderi on deadline day, adding to the arrivals of midfielder Tochi Chukwuani and defender Tuur Rommens, plus loan recruit Andreas Skov Olsen.

Kieran Dowell and Joe Rothwell have left while Lyall Cameron, Findlay Curtis and Clinton Nsiala have gone out on loan.

Rangers' new signing Ryan Naderi insists he wants to "make the most" of his move to Ibrox from 3. Liga side Hansa Rostock.

The German striker has scored eight goals this season and signed a "long-term contract" at the club, having previously played in Borussia Moenchengladbach's B team.

"I am really pleased that this move has happened," Naderi told club media. "Now I am here, I plan to make the most of this opportunity. Rangers are a world-renowned club who have a history of winning silverware and that's what I am here to achieve.

"I am looking forward to meeting my new team-mates, all of the staff and the supporters in the days and weeks ahead.

"I am ready to get started and I hope to have a positive impact on the team for the rest of the season."

Naderi adds to Rangers' firepower this season, which has stuttered to get going. Youssef Chermiti has four, while Bojan Miovski has eight in all competitions.

"I am delighted to add Ryan to the squad," said head coach Danny Rohl. "He is still young in terms of his playing career, but he has shown in Germany that he knows the way to goal as well as contributing with a number of assists due to his high level of skill.

"He is someone who has a lot of potential and I believe we can help take his game to the next level. We will help him adapt to his new surroundings and I am looking forward to seeing what he can do in a Rangers shirt."

Rangers centre-half Clinton Nsiala has joined Westerlo on loan, with the Belgian top-flight club having an option to buy the 22-year-old in the summer.

The Ibrox club bought the Frenchman from AC Milan in 2024.

But Nsiala has only made 17 first-team appearances since, four this term and only one being a start - last month's 5-0 Scottish Cup victory over Annan Athletic.

At Westerlo, he is reunited with head coach Issame Charai, who was assistant to Philippe Clement at Ibrox until last year.

He joins a side currently sitting 11th of the 16 teams in the Belgian Pro League.

Tochi Chukwuani hopes his experience of winning the Austrian Bundesliga can help propel Rangers to the Scottish Premiership title this season.

Chukwuani, 22, was a title-winner with Sturm Graz and sealed a move to Ibrox in January.

Sunday's goalless draw at Easter Road was his third appearance for Danny Rohl's side, a result which leaves them six points behind league leaders Hearts.

"I think it's always good to have that kind of experience of winning a title," he said.

"You know what it really takes to win a title and try to bring it also here, in terms of mentality, every day in training and also in games.

"I'm still settling in, I'm still trying to build those relationships within the group, trying to find the connection with the players, my team-mates. But I still think I have more to do.

"It was a performance that we knew still left room for improvement.

"Our play in the last third wasn't good enough, and we didn't control the game the way we wanted.

"But if we look at the positive side, we still kept the clean sheet, and we still go on our on unbeaten run in the league.

"So we try to keep our heads up and try to focus on the next game which is around the corner."

    Image caption,

Rangers drew 0-0 away to Hibernian on Sunday

This season's Scottish Premiership top six could be "the best" yet in terms of quality, according to former Motherwell forward James McFadden.

Hearts lead the division, with defending champions Celtic and Rangers six points adrift and Motherwell, Hibernian and Falkirk making up the top half of the table.

"It makes the top six extremely interesting," McFadden told the BBC's Scottish Football Podcast.

"Falkirk are in the driving seat at that point as well. They will be a tough opposition for anybody. The next three games, if Hearts can win, I would make them heavy favourites to win the league.

"If they can win all three games and, well, that's including beating Rangers, then it goes to nine points on Rangers.

"Rangers need to play Celtic, throw Motherwell into the equation. Hibs, you look, you know, at their performance [in the draw with Rangers].

"It'll be the best top six that we've had in this split era because so many teams have so much to play for and so many strong teams are in there."
