Wednesday provides a must-win night for both Sheffield Wednesday and Norwich City as the two bottom clubs face each other at Hillsborough (19:45 GMT).

The Owls sit in the basement with -8 points following their 12 point deduction but, while their form has been less than spectacular, the Canaries visit will be one they will eye to boost morale with a much needed win.

Norwich have lost their past six successive games and are winless in eight (D1 L7), leaving them in the worst form of any Championship club.

    • Sheffield Wednesday failed to win any of their six league games against Norwich City between the 2018-19 and 2023-24 campaigns (D2 L4), but did achieve a league double over the Canaries last term (2-0 home, 3-2 away).

    • Norwich City have lost just one of their last four away league games against Sheffield Wednesday (W2 D1), but it was last season, going down 2-0 at Hillsborough.

    • Sheffield Wednesday are winless in their last eight home league games (D2 L6), including all seven so far this season (D1 L6) – it is already their longest ever start to a home campaign without winning at Hillsborough.

    • Norwich City have lost each of their last three away league games and could lose four in a row for the second time in 2025 (also March to April) – before this calendar year, the Canaries hadn't suffered that fate outside of the top-flight since December 2017 under Daniel Farke.

    • Norwich City manager Liam Manning is winless in seven previous league games against Sheffield Wednesday (D3 L4), the most times he has faced a side without victory in the Football League.

Boston United have signed forward Ken Aboh from Championship club Norwich City on a month's loan.

The 20-year-old has made one appearance for the Canaries' first team - as a substitute in a 5-0 win against Rotherham in the Championship in March 2024.

Aboh had two loan spells in the English Football League last season - at Stevenage in League One and with Colchester United in League Two.

He is set for his Pilgrims debut in Wednesday's National League game at Altrincham.

"I am so sad to see our club rotting before our eyes. It's in a state of paralysis.

"You've got people inside the club essentially marking their own homework, you've got people afraid to make big decisions as it puts their own jobs in jeopardy."

Rob Butler and Chris Reeve reflect on more misery for Norwich City as they suffer a sixth defeat in a row and remain point-less at home.

  4. Manning apologies to fans after Norwich's latest losspublished at 16:34 GMT 1 November 2025

Norwich City have lost six games in a row

Under-fire Norwich City boss Liam Manning said sorry to the fans for making a sharp exit down the players' tunnel after the Canaries' sixth straight loss.

Manning faced calls for his head from some fans at Carrow Road during the 2-0 defeat by Hull City and admitted he should not have disappeared at the final whistle.

He told BBC Radio Norfolk: "I apologise to the fans for that, it's not good from me.

"I'm hurting, it's not the right thing to do and I apologise to everyone for that.

"It's the same message, you keep fighting.

"Clearly there's a lot that needs to change. We have to look in-house and change."

Norwich wasted chances to score before Joe Gelhardt gave Hull the lead early in the second half and Manning said he is "tired of saying the same things".

"Ultimately you're tired of saying the same things, I'm scratching my head," he added.

"I reflect on my performance first and you look at the first half and you have to be ahead.

"You get in at half-time and the frustrating bit is we referenced they [Hull] are going to change. They're going to go man-to-man and we have to go in behind them and utilise the space, but we don't do it.

"We just shoot ourselves in the foot by giving away, yet again, a horrific goal."

  5. Manning 'unhappy' with Canaries situationpublished at 15:50 GMT 31 October 2025

Norwich City are looking for their first Championship win since August and welcome Hull City to Carrow Road on Saturday (12:30 GMT).

On Wednesday, club owner Mark Attanasio backed head coach Liam Manning to continue in his role despite a run of five defeats in a row.

Ahead of the Hull game, Manning has been speaking to the media and here are some of the key points:

    • The head coach said he had a "good honest chat" with majority shareholder Mark Attanasio while he was in the UK

    • Manning said Attanasio understands the issues that the club are going through with regards to injuries and loss of form

    • "I'm really not happy with where we are at," Manning said

    • The City boss says it is good that Attanasio came over from the United States while the team are struggling, rather than only showing interest on the back of a winning run

    • Full-back Jack Stacey will miss the Hull game after suffering a concussion during training. It is his second concussion issue this season after sustaining a similar injury in the home defeat against Wrexham

    • Defender Ben Chrisene will miss a "couple of weeks" following a setback with his injury recovery

    • Midfielder Amankwah Forson is back in full training following his injury lay-off. Manning said he will "possibly" be in the squad for the Hull game

  6. Sargent 'happy' at Norwich despite 'rough patch'published at 10:26 GMT 31 October 2025

Sargent: 'I want to play every minute I can'

Norwich City striker Josh Sargent says he has no plans to leave when the transfer window reopens in January, despite the club struggling in the Championship.

Sargent was linked with a move to German side VfL Wolfsburg in the summer but the American chose to reject the offer and stay in Norfolk.

However, while Sargent has scored five times across the Canaries' opening four Championship matches, he has not found the net since and subsequently missed out on a call-up for the United States.

"I don't have any plans of leaving at the moment, I'm very happy here," Sargent told BBC Radio Norfolk.

"I know it's been a bit of a rough patch for the club, but I'm fully focused on turning it around and doing my best for this club. I stayed for a reason.

"Of course, being in the World Cup squad would be a massive achievement again and I'm going to keep working hard and do everything I can to try and make that squad."

Norwich are currently 23rd in the table after five successive league losses, two points below Blackburn Rovers in 21st.

"I probably expected it to be a bit worse in the changing room (after poor results), but I think the guys all have a sense that it's not where we belong, we shouldn't be at the bottom of the table," Sargant added.

"We still have a lot of faith in ourselves and what we can do. We have just to go out there and show it now."

Norwich return to Carrow Road seeking their first points of the season at home as Hull City visit on Saturday (12:30 GMT).

The Canaries have lost all six games infront of their own fans under Liam Manning this season in all competitions, are on a five-match losing streak in the Championship and have taken just two points from their past eight games to slip to second-bottom of the table, ahead of only Sheffield Wednesday.

The Tigers, by contrast, are unbeaten in their past five league games, taking 11 points, and sit eighth, only outside the play-off places on goal difference.

    • Norwich City are unbeaten across their past five league games against Hull City (W4 D1), scoring 12 goals in total during that time.

    • Hull City have won just one of their 13 away league games against Norwich City since 1972 (D3 L9), a 2-0 success at Carrow Road in September 2010.

    • Norwich have picked up just eight points through their opening 12 Championship matches this season (W2 D2 L8), their fewest during a second-tier campaign since 2007-08 when they eventually finished 17th (also 8 points).

    • Hull have won just one of their past eight away league games (D3 L4), though did win last time out on the road when beating Birmingham City 3-2 at St Andrew's.

    • With 20 goals through their opening 12 Championship games, Hull have netted their most goals at this stage of a second-tier campaign since 2017-18 (23).

  8. Conceding 'soft' goals hurting Canaries - Manningpublished at 19:13 BST 25 October 2025

    Media caption,

Five defeats in a row for Norwich City

Norwich manager Liam Manning says his side need to stop giving away soft goals, after Swansea condemned the Canaries to their eighth defeat of the season on Saturday.

He told BBC Radio Norfolk: "Back to where we've been, it just hurts with the type of goals we give away and it's something we've been saying all season.

"It's cost us all season and it's something I'm working extremely hard to change, but it's proving quite a challenge in terms of just the softness and the manner of the goals.

"I spoke to the lads a lot that if you don't respect and take enough care of doing the simple things well enough, the little bits, then at this level you'll get punished - and that's what happened today.

"We have to change it and we're chasing that, it's a bit frustrating. I thought we responded well to going a goal behind, got back into the game.

"But forget formations, systems, structures, if you turn it over in such an easy manner and such an open way you're going to get punished... and we keep doing it."

  9. Norwich owner Attanasio to be guest on Canary Callpublished at 11:34 BST 24 October 2025

Norwich City's majority shareholder Mark Attanasio will be a guest on BBC Radio Norfolk's Canary Call and taking questions on Wednesday, 29 October (18:00 BST).

Attanasio acquired a minority shareholding of the club in September 2022, and in August 2024, his Norfolk Holdings group agreed a deal to take majority control of the club from long-standing owners Delia Smith and Michael Wynn Jones.

The Canaries currently sit in the Championship relegation zone and without a point at home all season, with pressure mounting on head coach Liam Manning and sporting director Ben Knapper.

  10. Pick of the stats: Swansea City v Norwich Citypublished at 10:17 BST 24 October 2025

Side-by-side of Swansea City and Norwich City club badges

Norwich City will look to stop the rot when they visit Swansea City on Saturday (15:00 BST).

The Canaries have failed to win any of their past seven games, losing the last four in succession, to place themselves in the bottom three.

Though Swansea have not won in their past three and will also be keen to find that elusive victory.

    • Swansea City have lost just one of their last five league games against Norwich City (W3 D1), though that sole defeat did come in their last such meeting, a 5-1 loss at Carrow Road in January this year.

    • Norwich City have lost five of their last seven away league games against Swansea City (W2), failing to score in four of those defeats.

    • Swansea are winless across their last five home league games (D3 L2); their longest run since December 2023 (6 games – D3 L3).

    • Norwich have lost each of their last four league games in succession, last losing five in a row in the Championship in November 2016.

    • Norwich have failed to score in three of their last four league games, and could fail to score in three successive matches for the first time since May 2022 (run of four).

Norwich City head to Swansea City on Saturday (15:00 BST) in the Championship.

The Canaries lost 1-0 to Derby on Tuesday, which saw them drop into the relegation zone with some fans calling for a change in management.

Head coach Liam Manning has been speaking to the media in the build-up to the game against Swansea. Here are some of the key points:

    • "He was devastated. He's had people around him today picking him up - we're all just gutted for him," said Manning.

    • Mathias Kvistgaarden is in contention to travel this weekend. Manning said there is a balance to be had with not rushing him back too quickly, but they do need him.

    • Ben Chrisene is still not reintegrated into the squad and it will be a few weeks before the full-back is in a match-day squad. Amankwah Forson will return to team training next week.

    • On the pressure of the job, Manning says he's in regular contact with sporting director Ben Knapper and he's keeping his head down and working "flat out" to change things.

    • "It's a pressure cooker at the moment, you've got to make the most of when we're on top and be more clinical in both boxes," Manning added.

    • "Swansea will be a tough game, they've got good players and it's a tough place to go. It's another opportunity at the weekend and we need to turn that into a win."

    • Shane Duffy has been spoken to following his unsavoury interaction with a fan on social media. "You just can't do it, you have to keep your opinions to yourself," said Manning.
