  2. Celtic 1-0 Dundee: What Pressley saidpublished at 22:41 GMT 3 December 2025

Dundee manager Steven PressleyImage source, SNS

Dundee boss Steven Pressley tells BBC Scotland: "I always say, to come here and get a result you need the perfect performance. It wasn't a perfect performance, but it was a really positive performance. Especially to endure some difficult moments early in the game.

"It's easy to go under in place like this, but we didn't. I'm really proud of the performance today. It was important we took another step in the right direction tonight after the win at the weekend, and I feel we did that.

"The team has been evolving in a difficult period and that's testament to the players. It's been a really testing run for us. But within that, the players have shown great resilience.

"I've seen a team that's showing great bravery just now. We came here and we tried to play. In many ways it was a win for us tonight."

  3. Robertson looking for 'perfect performance' from Dundee against Celticpublished at 10:21 GMT 3 December 2025

    Clark RobertsonImage source, SNS

Dundee defender Clark Robertson believes there is "more to come" from Steven Pressley's side as they aim to climb the Scottish Premiership table.

They ended a four game losing run with an impressive 3-1 win over St Mirren last weekend, leaving the Dark Blues ninth in the table, just three points behind city neighbours Dundee United.

Next up Pressley's side have a trip to Celtic, who they managed to beat at Dens Park for the first time in nearly 40 years earlier this season.

"We have probably been inconsistent at times but I think we are growing as a group now," Robertson said.

"I think there is a lot more still to come from us, it is all about having that belief and character about the squad to be able to continue that.'

"We are 15 games in, there is still more than half the season to play so it is vital that we do build on performances like St Mirren and try and back it up with two or three wins on the bounce.

"There is not much in this league, two or three wins on the bounce does propel you up in to the top half so it is just important that we do continue to build on performances."

Dundee face a difficult challenge against a Celtic side that look to be returning to form and who have cut the gap on league leaders Hearts to just two points with a game in hand.

However they have already upset the odds against the Hoops once this season and Robertson is challenging his teammates to do so again.

"It is going to take probably a perfect performance again from us," Robertson added.

'There is no reason why we can't do it but we have got to show a lot of belief and character to go and do it."

"I think it is a challenge that we look forward to, we have beaten them in the past and we have got to take belief and confidence that we can do it. We have shown we can do it this season everyone has got to be at their maximum to be able to achieve that."

  4. 'More to come' from Dundee after vital win published at 09:32 GMT 3 December 2025

    Dundee fan's voice

I've stressed how important our home form is. We are unbeaten in four of our past five home games, winning three.

Beating St Mirren not only continues this solid record, but also breaks us out of our recent run of defeats.

As predicted, refining a more direct style has brought results, and we put the Saints to the sword with a deserved victory.

Yan Dhanda finally played back-to-back games in his natural position for the first time this season - and it was no surprise he was at the heart of the equalising goal.

Interestingly, all our goals came from moments of individual expression - players making something out of almost nothing - rather than from the robotic, over-worked patterns of play that dominate the modern game.

While the scoreline suggests a comfortable victory, there is definitely room for improvement. It looks like there is more to come from this team, but only if they maintain the same level of work ethic displayed at the weekend.

The players themselves admitted the opening period of the match - when they struggled - was not only self-inflicted but also solved through their own initiative, as opposed to instructions from the dugout.

That's a sign of the trust Pressley has in his players, and their dig and grit on the pitch reflect their respect in return.

Looking ahead to tonight, Celtic are climbing towards the top of the table - I don't expect any stagnation on their part when we come to town.

Going away to Celtic can almost feel like a closed-door friendly; you hope the team gets a good workout and avoids injuries. It's a complete free hit.

When Aberdeen visit Dens at the weekend, it'll be a great test for this Dundee side to show everyone where we're at.

We flexed our muscles on Saturday, but now we have to build on that.

  5. Wright proving a 'priceless commodity' for Dundeepublished at 08:04 GMT 3 December 2025

    Behind the Mic

When a football team is struggling, and a manager is looking for answers, being able to call on a "Mr. Versatile" to help find those answers is a priceless commodity.

Drey Wright was a man of many positions – and effective in all of them – at his previous club, St Johnstone and he is performing a similar role at Dundee, who he joined in the summer.

Dangerous in the attacking third, effective at the back and with an engine that can see him get up and down the pitch – the 30-year-old is certainly a valuable asset.

Wright had created seven chances for Steven Pressley's men, the second highest of any Dundee player. Defensively, he's made 45 clearances, 14 interceptions and has won nine out of 16 tackles so far this term.

He has featured at right-back, right midfield and he put in an excellent performance in last Saturday's much needed 3-1 win over St Mirren – a game he started at left back. He also scored his first goal for the Dark Blues in that fixture.

Head coach Pressley knows, in Wright, he has a player who can plug almost any gap in his team, and that isn't doing him justice. The Englishman is someone who does more than merely plug gaps, he has the ability to stand out in whatever role he is given.

Pressley will be hoping that Wright will have a key role to play as his side look to turn a disappointing campaign round over the coming weeks.

    • Celtic have won 21 of their last 23 home games against Dundee in all competitions (D2) since a 0-2 league defeat in May 2001 during Martin O'Neill's first spell in charge.

    • Dundee's 2-0 win in October was just their second win in their last 69 league meetings with Celtic (D13 L54). The Dark Blues last won back-to-back league matches versus the Hoops in October 1988.

    • Celtic have lost just one of their last 79 home league games against sides other than Old Firm rivals Rangers (W68 D10), a 0-2 defeat to Hearts in December 2023.

    • Dundee have lost each of their last five away league outings, while they last lost more in a row on the road in the top-flight in January 2005 (seven).

    • Celtic have won each of their last 28 home league games played in midweek (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) by an aggregate score of 86-7 since a 0-0 draw with Kilmarnock in May 2018. The Hoops are unbeaten in 43 home midweek league games (W39 D4) since a 0-1 defeat to St. Johnstone in March 2015.

Steven Pressley knows the "enormity" of the task on Wednesday but insists his Dundee side are capable of completing a remarkable double over Celtic.

Dundee, who defeated Celtic 2-0 in October during Brendan Rodgers' penultimate league game in charge, are seeking to win at Parkhead for the first time in 24 years and spoil interim boss Martin O'Neill's send-off.

"You need a near-perfect performance plus an element of luck to go and win at Celtic Park," said boss Pressley.

"It has been 25 years nearly since we have won there [May 2001], I think 1988 since Dundee recorded two wins against Celtic in the one season, so when you begin to look at statistics it shows the enormity of the task but again it is not beyond us.

"Another interesting statistic is the last time Dundee won there, Martin O'Neill was the manager and Shaun Maloney was on the bench so you just never know."

Dundee are ninth in the table but travel to Glasgow boosted by an impressive 3-1 comeback win over St Mirren.

Pressley believes the result – which ended a four-game losing streak – helps reinforce his belief his side have been making progress amid "a run of really challenging games".

He added: "We had actually seen some progress in our performances but trying to convince people of that when you are losing games of football was difficult.

"And the evidence for most people of progression isn't performance, it is winning. It is not always the case as a coach, you look for different indicators, but we needed that to say to people, 'Yes we have made progress in this period' and I think that is why the game was of such importance against St Mirren.

"It has been nearly over a year since Dundee went behind and came back to win a game of football, so for us to do that on the back of a difficult run shows a lot in terms of the players' character and resilience so I was really proud of them for that.

"But when you say 'turned a corner' I am not sure. There is still a lot of work ahead of us, this is going to take time."

Dundee head coach Steven Pressley has been speaking to the media before Wednesday night's Scottish Premiership trip to play Celtic.

    Here are the key points:

    • Pressley says Dundee need "a near-perfect performance plus an element of luck" to win at Celtic Park.

    • He notes 2001 was the last time Dundee won there: "Martin O'Neill was the manager and Shaun Maloney was on the bench so you just never know."

    • Having beaten Celtic already this season, Pressley says "it is not beyond us" to do it again and achieve two wins over the Parkhead club in the same season for the first time since 1988.

    • Pressley says Dundee's weekend win over St Mirren was important for belief and confidence.

    • He adds that while he has been seeing improvements, it is a tough sell when not winning games, so the victory was good to show people "yes we have made progress in this period".

    • Pressley says the weekend victory was the first time in a year Dundee have come from behind to win.

    • On whether Dundee have turned a corner: "There is still a lot of work ahead of us... we need a number of [transfer] windows, we need time to improve players, time to improve the team."

    • Team news: Everyone is fit and Pressley has "players knocking on my door wanting to play".

Dundee did well to come from behind after earning the wrath of their home fans before beating St Mirren 3-1 at Dens Park on Saturday, according to former Scotland forward Steven Naismith.

Steven Pressley's side fell behind early before turning the match around before half time on their way to their first victory since defeating Celtic in October.

"There's not many tougher places to have been 1-0 down and your home fans booing and on you after a bad run," former Hearts head coach Naismith said on BBC Scotland's Sportscene.

"Credit to the players to keep playing, keep plugging away and keep getting forward. They deserved their win."

Dundee have two players in my Premiership team of the week after their 3-1 win at home to St Mirren.

Drey Wright was versatile and effective throughout, starting at left-back, and scored the home side's vital second goal on his way to being undoubted man of the match.

Meanwhile, on-loan Hearts midfielder Yan Dhanda seems to be finding his feet at Dens Park and played his part in an important win.

  13. 'Benchmark' win for Dundee - Wrightpublished at 15:29 GMT 30 November 2025

    BBC Sport Scotland Senior Reporter

Dundee midfielder Drey WrightImage source, SNS

Dundee goalscorer Drey Wright insists the 3-1 win over St Mirren should be the standard of performance they seek from now on after ending a four-game Premiership losing streak.

Despite falling behind after Clark Robertson gifted the opener to Mikael Mandron, Steven Pressley's side bounced back to record a vital win that lifted them to ninth in the table.

After Alex Gogic deflected into his own net to equalise, Wright's powerful shot from outside the area caught St Mirren goalkeeper Shamal George out before Joe Westley settled the win.

It's massive for us," Wright told BBC Scotland. "Especially the run of form we were on, there was no hiding away from it.

"It was a really well-rounded performance once we'd ironed out the issues we caused ourselves.

"We dug in when we needed to. Everyone in that box defended with their lives and it was good to see.

"That's what it takes and that's the benchmark now going forward."

Victory is a timely boost, having not won since defeating Celtic at home, ahead of a midweek trip to face the Premiership champions in Glasgow.

"Obviously we know we've got a tough game coming up, but with the form we've been on we can only look at one game at a time," Wright explained.

"We saw this as a big opportunity for us, we've delivered on that and then it will be on to the next game.

"There's a lot of confidence in so many different areas to take, which is the really pleasing thing."

  14. 'Signs of progress' under Pressley after comeback win?published at 10:36 GMT 30 November 2025

    your views graphic

We asked for your views after Dundee beat St Mirren 3-1 in the Scottish Premiership.

Here's what some of you said:

Mark: Huge result. I've been a critic but putting things in perspective since the win against Celtic, we have played high-flying Falkirk (should have had a penalty to make it 2-0 but somehow not given) then Hearts, Rangers and Hibs, so three very difficult games. After we play Celtic during the week we play a few teams who should be in and around us in the league, so hopefully a few more wins like yesterday. I am stopping short of saying give Steven Pressley plenty of time, but let's see where we are come the turn of the year and hopefully it's not too late.

Jimmy: Great result and badly needed boost. Some individuals calling for Pressley's head after the first goal for the visitors and no dissenting voices after we equalised. Man of the match Drey Wright, covered every blade of grass and inspired the team to be more aggressive and adventurous. Definitely signs of progress and some individuals players coming on to a game like Yan Dhanda and Luke Graham.

Albert: Wonderful result due to a more attacking gameplan. Hopefully the fans get behind the manager now and back the, albeit slow, progress.

Iain: I didn't see that coming. Great win and three points against the kind of side we need to beat convincingly, especially at Dens. Well done, lads.

John: At last a decent enough effort. Not great defending for the opening goal but good recovery and the team deserve credit for not capitulating. I wouldn't be too disheartened if Celtic get their revenge [in midweek] but the next five or six games after that we need to secure more points as well as good performances. That would ease things at the club and for Pressley and give us all some hope.

  15. Dundee 3-1 St Mirren: What Pressley saidpublished at 17:22 GMT 29 November 2025

Steven Pressley on the touchlineImage source, SNS

Dundee head coach Steven Pressley: "A very big win in terms of confidence and breaking consecutive defeats. We showed the things we talked about all week - turning good performances into winning performances.

"To do that, you need the extra percentages and we did that in abundance today, the players' attitude towards the game was terrific.

"We went with a really offensive team, and thankfully we got the right outcome.

"There's a degree of frustration in the support just now and that's understandable, so the players had to contend with that. I'm really proud of them, the atmosphere wasn't brilliant and we had to find a way, but we responded brilliantly.

"In general, we defended well and defended the box really well. Luke Graham played with such maturity today, Drey Wright was terrific following on from his best performances against Hibernian last week.

"The most important thing today was the result, but I saw a number of good things."

    Yan Dhanda graphicImage source, SNS

Yan Dhanda has urged Dundee to come out firing against St Mirren and avoid another slow start as they chase a much-needed victory.

Steven Pressley's men are on a four-game losing streak and have conceded at least one first-half goal in their past three games.

Midfielder Dhanda, who is on loan from Hearts, said: "Second half against Hibs we have a right go, against Rangers we have a right go, but I just think we need to start doing it from the start and not when we go a goal down.

"It's going to be a difficult game. I've played against St Mirren a lot of times and it's never easy.

"They're very organised, they have a good coach and they have a lot of good players who fight for each other. That's what you have to do for three points.

"We know it's going to be a difficult game but we have to start well. I think the second half of games we've been really good but we've been one or two goals down.

"We need to do it from the start and really attack St Mirren. We know it's going to be difficult but we have to focus on us and go at them from the start."

Dundee v St Mirren: Pick of the statsImage source, SNS
    • Simon Murray has scored Dundee's past four league goals against St Mirren, netting braces in December and April last season (the Dark Blues failed to score against the Buddies in September this season with Murray absent). The last player to score 2+ goals in three consecutive Scottish Premiership appearances against a particular opponent was Kris Boyd versus Hearts in March 2014.

    • Dundee have won two of their past four home league games against St Mirren (D1 L1), more than their previous seven at home to the Buddies in the top flight (W1 D2 L4).

    • St Mirren have lost two of their past three league meetings with Dundee (as many as their previous 13 in the Scottish Premiership), although did win the first match between the two sides this season 1-0 in September.

    • Since beating Celtic 2-0 in October, Dundee have lost all four of their league games, the last three of which without scoring. The Dark Blues last lost four in a row without scoring in the competition in November 2018.

    • St Mirren have lost five of their past six league games (D1), as many as their previous 21 (W8 D8 L5). Away from home, the Buddies could lose three Premiership games in a row for the first time since October 2024.
