  3. 'I'm amazed Nancy's not gone yet'published at 08:50 GMT 5 January

    Wilfried Nancy

Eight games. Six defeats. Eighteen goals conceded.

"I'm amazed Wilfried Nancy's not gone yet," says BBC Scotland pundit Cammy Bell.

The former Scottish Premiership goalkeeper brands those damning numbers "unacceptable". No Celtic fan would disagree.

Despite an intense and front-footed first half from Nancy's side on Saturday, his team were again overwhelmed in a second period as Rangers came back to win 3-1.

Outside Celtic Park, a fan-led post-match protest, mainly directed at the club's board, followed.

On the pitch, though, Bell feels Celtic's "wide open" nature at the back has resulted in Nancy's position becoming untenable.

Speaking on the BBC's Scottish Football Podcast, the former Kilmarnock and Rangers goalkeeper added: "He's got to go for me. I just don't think it's working for him and Celtic at the moment.

"Eighteen goals [conceded] is just incredible. I think they only conceded 26 last season to win the league, so that shows you the levels and where they are at the moment.

"They're so wide open in every single game. You look back at the Motherwell game, the Livingston game. Livingston are sitting bottom of the league - they could have scored four against Celtic.

"Yes, we've seen flashes of them going forward, looking good in patterns of play and creating opportunities - but if you can't defend, you won't win games of football.

"He certainly looks like a man under pressure. It's been turned up 10 notches since then by getting beat by Rangers. So it'll be fascinating the days ahead."

Celtic defender Hayato Inamura has joined FC Tokyo on loan until the end of the season.

The 23-year-old has made just one appearance for the Parkhead side since joining on a four-year deal from Albirex Niigata last summer.

Almost immediately after moving to Celtic for an undisclosed fee in July last year, former manager Brendan Rodgers revealed Inamura could be sent straight out on loan.

Since then, he has featured just once for the first team, playing the entire 90 minutes in a 3-0 league win over Livingston in August.

'This is not about tactics' - Nancy speaks after derby defeat

Wilfried Nancy was defiant after suffering a sixth defeat in eight Celtic games - but many fans and pundits now feel his short time in charge is up.

A 3-1 derby loss to Rangers highlighted what has become a consistent theme throughout much of his brief tenure so far.

The Frenchman's side failed to convert multiple chances in a dominant first half before being exposed tactically and defensively after the break.

Here's how some of the pundits reacted...

Former Scotland midfielder Michael Stewart on BBC Sportsound: "Untenable position for Nancy. He looks like a broken man. The disconnect between the manager and the team is so stark.

"It is not something that can continue and it should not have happened. The people on the board who facilitated this should be shown the door as well. Celtic are in an absolute state."

Former Celtic goalkeeper Pat Bonner on BBC Sportsound: "The problems aren't high up the pitch for Celtic, the problems are the shape at the back and the defensive qualities."

Former Rangers striker and coach Billy Dodds on BBC Sportsound: "As much as Rangers have done the right things in this second half, Celtic have been just brutally bad.

"Celtic have just capitulated. Something has to give, there is no doubt."

Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton on Sky Sports: "We've seen this movie before with Nancy's Celtic.

"You can score, but you've got to defend. This team don't do that."

  8. Little support for Nancy as Celtic fans demand changepublished at 09:31 GMT 4 January

We asked for your thoughts after Celtic suffered yet another defeat with a 3-1 loss to Rangers in the Old Firm derby.

Here's a taste of what you had to say:

Craig: Been a Celtic supporter all my life, never before have I wished for Rangers to win in this derby. If this result doesn't speed up Wilfried Nancy's departure then I fear for the rest of the season.

Paul: This squad is awful: missing the quality of Alistair Johnston, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Jota, a good defensive midfielder, a goal scorer. These flaws are not Nancy's fault. It's a sporting director who is completely out of his depth, who never had the experience to work at a club like Celtic. There are too many players recruited that simply are not good enough.

David: Nancy needs to go, it is getting embarrassing to watch Celtic play. He is just treading water now.

Des: Nancy deserves no sympathy - he's on to a good pay-off. Football director Paul Tisdale and CEO Michael Nicholson are responsible for this fiasco. Unless they leave, this will re-occur.

Mark: I won't be back at Celtic Park until Nancy is gone. The board have shown total arrogance over the last 12 months with one poor decision after another. The board are treating supporters with complete contempt, like we are simply mug punters who will keep pumping out money regardless. Unfortunately, I think this current board, and Dermot Desmond, have come to the end of the road at Celtic as the relationship between supporters is toxic, but I suspect this might be a protracted divorce which will damage the club further. From the supporters' perspective, this all boils down to the board not replacing Nicolas Kuhn or Kyogo Furuhashi in time for key Champions League qualifiers. I feel sad about the whole situation, and it's removed all enjoyment from supporting the club. Why oh why didn't they stick with Martin O'Neill!

John: Devoid of defending, Afraid to hit ball into net. Celtic have very few players worthy of playing for them. In fact there are a few who can't play football at all.

  11. Celtic 1-3 Rangers: What Nancy saidpublished at 15:04 GMT 3 January

    Wilfried NancyImage source, SNS

Celtic manager Wilfried Nancy: It was disappointing because we deserved more today but again we needed more goals. The first half was outstanding, the intensity, the pressure, the commitment to compete but it was only 1-0. In the second half we conceded three goals from throw ins. It's difficult to accept but it's reality.

"This is not about the players or the tactics, this is about moments. In a few moments we could have done better. My players were outstanding in the first half, they wanted to do better in the second half but the way we conceded, we have to be better.

"We have come from behind when we were losing [in previous games] but at this moment there is a bit of fragility when we conceded the second goal. This is about details, the game is about details.

"This is not about myself, this is about disappointing the fans because I know the meaning of this game. They pushed us in a good way in the first half, they were behind us but when we conceded goals we wanted to push again. I can understand the disappointment but I also saw what we're able to do. It's totally normal that they're disappointed.

"This is reality but we have to stay together. We are really close, there are many things that can turn around. If it was not the case I would not talk like this. We have many things that we are really close but this is not enough regarding a few details. I really believe we can turn things around.

"We are together with the board."
