The frustrating lack of end product continues at McDiarmid Park.

Ibrahim Said cuts inside and has a shot blocked behind for a corner when team-mates were well placed in the middle.

Said drops to all fours and throws his head back and forth in frustration. Normal.

    St Mirren 1-0 Hearts

Pierre Landry Kabore goes into the referee's book in what is becoming an ill-tempered affair in Paisley.

  4. CLOSE!published at 15:51 BST 16 August 2025

St Johnstone defender Cheikh Diabate has all the time in the world to pick his spot after the ball drops to him on the edge of the Motherwell box, but he blazes his shot well over the bar.

  5. HALF-TIME Greenock Morton 0-2 Aberdeenpublished at 15:51 BST 16 August 2025

Aberdeen are in control after a comfortable first half.

Jimnmy Thelin's side dominated the ball without threatening for the first 25 minutes, then upped the tempo and have grabbed two goals.

The first was a near-post header from Sivert Heltne Nilsen, his first Aberdeen goal and the club's first of the season. The second arrived five minutes later when Shayden Morris' shot was parried to Nicolas Milanovic.

The Australian squared it for Kusini Yengi to tap home from a couple of yards. Morton have had a bit of a go in the final few minutes of the half, but they have it all to do.

  6. goal

GOAL! Partick Thistle 2-0 Ayr Utdpublished at 15:49 BST 16 August 2025

    Logan Chalmers

Chalmers has been lively all afternoon and deserves to get involved.

He's found out wide on the right and bounces it off Tsoanelo Lets'osa before driving towards goal and fizzing in a left-footed strike from 20 yards. A tremendous strike.

  7. CLOSE!published at 15:49 BST 16 August 2025

    St Johnstone 0-0 Motherwell

Motherwell swing in a free-kick from the left-hand side, but Paul McGinn can't get the telling touch and it flashes just wide of the far post.

  8. Postpublished at 15:48 BST 16 August 2025

    St Mirren 1-0 Hearts

It's all getting a bit tousy in Paisley with challenges flying in and the crowd making their feelings heard.

St Mirren's Killian Phillips goes into a challenge to dispossess a Hearts player and injures himself in the process, but there will be no free-kick for the hosts, it's awarded the other way.

Phillips looks okay to continue for now.

  9. YELLOW CARDpublished at 15:46 BST 16 August 2025

    St Mirren 1-0 Hearts

A bit of disquiet in Paisley as Declan John is penalised and booked for a coming together with Pierre Landry Kabore.

There didn't seem to be too much in that one.

Hearts take the free-kick and Craig Halkett takes a blow to the head, prompting some medical assistance.

    Dan O'Reilly

    They deserve that.

Logan Chalmers' whipped corner is looped back across goal by the towering Dan O'Reilly.

    Easy as that.

    St Johnstone 0-0 Motherwell

    Tyrone Smith
    BBC Scotland at McDiarmid Park

An incredible clearance from St Johnstone defender Morgan Boyes.

Well's Emmanuel Longelo fizzed a shot in from the left, and Boyes - who was facing his own goal - somehow managed to put the ball over his own bar from a yard out.

I'm not too sure how much he knew about it.

  12. Postpublished at 15:40 BST 16 August 2025

    St Mirren 1-0 Hearts

Hearts midfielder Tomas Bent Magnusson is walking on thin ice as he commits another foul while on a yellow card.

He gets away with that challenge on Miguel Freckleton but is unlikely to get away with the next one.

  13. CLOSE!published at 15:38 BST 16 August 2025

    St Johnstone 0-0 Motherwell

Adama Sidibeh fires over the top after bringing down a long ball brilliantly on his chest.

Moments later, Motherwell left-back Emmanuel Longelo skins his man and looks certain to have opened the scoring, but a heroic block on the line keeps it goalless.

    Kusini Yengi

Another first Aberdeen goal and the Dons are two up. It's relief for Aberdeen's number nine even at this early stage of the season.

Shayden Morris' low shot is saved by goalkeeper James Storer, but Nicolas Milanovic lays it across to Yengi who couldn't miss from two yards out.

The Dons have definitely upped the tempo since the 25-minute mark.

Tsoanelo Lets'osa darts in from the right and weaves his way through a few bodies.

It's knocked to Tony Watt, who ultimately fires it right at David Mitchell.

Thistle could end up ruing these missed chances.

    Greenock Morton 0-1 Aberdeen

That Sivert Heltne Nilsen goal is his first for Aberdeen since signing last summer.

In fact, it's his first since May 2024.

    Alex Gogic

A stunning strike from Alex Gogic but where was the marking?

St Mirren work a free-kick from around 25 yards to the right and Declan John's chipped cross is volleyed in by Gogic, who had the freedom of the penalty area to perform his acrobatics.

    Sivert Heltne Nilsen

    First goal of the afternoon.

It comes after a few minutes of quick football from Aberdeen. After those two chances Adil Aouchiche wins a corner, takes it himself and finds Sivert Heltne Nilsen at the near post.

The midfielder just glances the ball into the far corner.

Aberdeen finally create something of note.

Alfie Dorrington charges from his own half into the Morton box and jinks past a couple of defenders. A challenge goes in and it breaks to Nicolas Milanovic, who swings the cross in.

Shayden Morris skelps a shot towards goal, but it's blocked. Moments later and Adil Aouchiche's header is comfortably saved.

Elijah Just looks very tidy on the ball for Motherwell.

His end product has lacked so far this afternoon, but he's been keen to run at the St Johnstone defence.
