  10. Hoban double helps Glens into next round of Irish Cuppublished at 20:44 GMT 23 January

    Result: Glentoran 4-0 Strabane Athletic

Two goals from stand-in skipper Pat Hoban saw Glentoran ease past Premier Intermediate League side Strabane Athletic and into the sixth round of the Irish Cup with a 4-0 win.

The fixture was originally due to be played on 10 January in Strabane, but was postponed because of a frozen pitch.

Moved instead to the Oval, new hosts Glentoran opened the scoring midway through the first half thanks to Jordan Stewart.

Danny Amos did brilliantly on the left to drill a low ball across the face of goal and there was Stewart to sweep the ball home first time from 12 yards..

Pat Hoban, captain for the night for the Glens in the absence of Marcus Kane, netted his 15th goal of the season deep into added time at the end of the first half.

Hoban netted his second just after the hour mark when again he was in the right place at the right time and found the target after Strabane Athletic goalkeeper Shane O'Gara had saved Stewart's goal bound effort.

Defender Michael-John Kamara added a fourth and final goal 12 minutes from time with the centre-back powerfully heading home a Amos corner.

  11. O'Rourke and Clarke complete moves to Glentoranpublished at 20:43 GMT 23 January

Glentoran have completed a double swoop from Crusaders for Jarlath O'Rourke and Ross Clarke.

O'Rourke spent six years at Seaview following a move from Dungannon Swifts in 2019.

The 30-year-old defender made 246 appearances for the north Belfast club including 24 this season when he served as team captain.

"Even before getting out on the pitch with the lads, you can sense the standards around the place," O'Rourke said after the move was confirmed.

"It's a strong group, competitive in the right way and there's a real hunger within the squad to achieve something together."

Midfielder Clarke, 32, became the second player to swap Seaview for the Oval on Thursday.

The midfielder made 257 for the Crues since his arrival from Linfield in 2018, scoring 34 goals and claiming three Irish Cup winners medals in the process, but makes the move across the city to strengthen the right side of Glentoran's midfield.

"The opportunity to play full-time was one I couldn't turn down," Clarke said.

"Glentoran is a massive club with big expectations and you can see immediately the standards and professionalism around the place.

"It's a club with a real history and I'm proud to be pulling on the Glentoran jersey. I'll give everything I've got to make a success of my time here and do my bit for the team."
