Video assistant referee technology (VAR) and semi-automated offside technology will not be used until the fifth round of this season's FA Cup.

Because of infrastructure and operational costs, VAR had previously only been used at Premier League grounds, and at Wembley in the FA Cup semi-finals and final.

The Football Association says this decision will ensure a consistent refereeing approach for all clubs that take part in the competition.

Goalline technology, however, will be available for all fixtures hosted by Premier League and Championship clubs.

The 2025-26 FA Cup fourth round draw will take place on Monday, 12 January at approximately 18:35 GMT.

Proceedings will take place before kick-off in the third-round tie between Liverpool and Barnsley at Anfield.

Former England internationals Steven Gerrard and Joe Cole will conduct the draw that will consist of 32 teams live on TNT Sports.

Supporters can also follow the draw on the BBC Sport website and app.

All matches will be played around the weekend commencing Saturday, 14 February.

Unlike in previous years, there are no replays if matches end as a draw. All ties will go to extra-time, and if necessary, a penalty shootout.

National League North side Macclesfield and National League South's Weston-super-Mare are the lowest-ranked clubs that could feature in the draw.

Today is the day for Darren Fletcher. He takes charge of Manchester United at Old Trafford for the first time as interim boss after the dismissal of Ruben Amorim.

Fletcher took charge of Man Utd's 2-2 draw at Burnley on Wednesday and is getting another chance to lead his former side.

"I was surprised I got offered the two games because I wasn't expecting it," he said.

"I don't think like that. I think about the job that I've got in hand, so it wasn't something that was on my radar at all.

"But I know that I can do it and I'm comfortable doing it.

"I know the environment, and I believe in myself. I feel like I've learned a lot in the five years I've been here.

"I've had great experiences as a player, took my time to develop and learn as a coach and other parts of things off the field, which I'm glad I've done because I think it's put me in a great position now."

On 16 December, Macclesfield forward Ethan McLeod died in a car accident while travelling back from their National League North match at Bedford Town.

He was in the thoughts of all those connected to Macclesfield throughout their memorable day on Saturday.

A picture of him hung between the dugouts while there was a banner paying tribute in the stands at Moss Rose. The 21-year-old's parents were at the game.

"I just walked in the office then and his parents are in the office celebrating with us," Macclesfield boss John Rooney said afterwards.

"I said to his parents: He is definitely watching down on us today. I feel he is here with us.

"To have his mum and dad here - to come into the changing room, to come into the office. That means so much to me."

The winner of this year's men's FA Cup will take home £2.1m in prize money.

The final purse has increased by £120,000 compared to the 2024-25 season/

Participating clubs receive money each round from the Football Association's prize fund, as well as gate receipts and a bonus for appearing on television.

Teams competing in this weekend's men's FA Cup third round will receive £121,500 if they progress to the next round, while the loser get £26,500.

But now, the two sides are in completely different places, with Leeds looking to remain in the Premier League and Derby are battling it out in the Championship.

In the FA Cup, though, anything can happen.

Derby County boss John Eustace has made six changes to the side which lost 2-1 to Wrexham last weekend.

Among them, new midfield signing Oscar Fraulo is giuven his debut, while captain Lewis Travis makes his first start since returning from injury.
