Ruben Amorim, Michael Carrick's predecessor, didn't win four games in a row, and Carrick has done that in four games.

Three of those were against Manchester City, Arsenal and Spurs – there really is big momentum.

They're in fourth place and thinking about the Champions League, something which wasn't in the conversation for Man Utd earlier this season.

I think if Spurs lose tonight, the owners will sack Thomas Frank. The remaining games this month will not earn us many if any points. The caretaker can use these matches to prepare the team for the rest of the season which will be crucial to avoid relegation.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe speaking to TNT Sports about Anthony Gordon's return: "Really good to have him back. He is a top player and brings his qualities. He is direct and it is great to have him back."

On the rest of his team selection: "Just giving JJ (Jacob Ramsey) an opportunity today. We are trying to manage everyone's load. Today, an opportunity for JJ and Joe Willock to impress and we feel we need their pace and athleticism in our team today.

"We have had a number of players who have played at not their best physical level in recent weeks. I wanted to mix things up. I like the team we have picked and now it is on us to perform.

"The target for us is to start really well and show our intent in the game. I want to see an enthusiasm and desire and if we show that, I think we will do well."

Everton manager David Moyes, speaking to TNT Sports, on giving Tyrique George his home debut: "We’ve lacked a bit of natural width. We want to try be positive. I’ve liked him [in training], we want to see what he can do. He gives us balance. He’s a young man so we can’t expect too much. We’ve lost Jack Grealish, so Tyrique gets his opportunity."

Eighth-place Everton host 11th-place Bournemouth at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, with both unbeaten in their last five Premier League games.

The Toffees will be especially keen to take maximum points though - they haven't won any of their last four home matches.

Everton triumphed 1-0 on the south coast back in December, but the Cherries won this fixture 3-2 last season having trailed 2-0.

This one might be a slow burner - the last four Premier League meetings between the two sides have all been goalless at half-time, with each of the last 11 goals in this fixture coming in the second half.

Seven wins in nine games has been an impressive riposte by Liam Rosenior to those who questioned his appointment as Chelsea head coach five weeks ago. On Saturday, aided by Cole Palmer's club record fourth Premier League hat-trick, he became just the second English manager to win his first four matches in charge in the competition.

The first, Craig Shakespeare, went on to win his first five with Leicester City in 2017 but was sacked six months later. Rosenior will be well aware how quickly fortunes can turn.

Rosenior's lack of experience at a top-level club means he is considered by some to be a gamble. The odds have been in his favour so far thanks to a kind run of league fixtures; Leeds and Burnley are up next, meaning Chelsea will have played five top-flight games in a row against sides in the bottom six at the time.

Their record against teams in the lower part of the table is the third best in the division. The greater test for Rosenior and his players will be to sustain their form in the games that follow, starting on 1 March with a trip to Arsenal.

I think Eddie Howe is asking to be sacked with that starting 11. It's as if he's signalling that he's given up. Those full-backs can't run, and all the strikers are on the bench. Bizarre stuff.

    Mike, Fife

Same old names, same old tactics no doubt. I genuinely want Eddie to get us back on track, but just can’t see it happening. Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results; sign of madness.

  12. West Ham shed unwanted recordpublished at 18:44 GMT 10 February

West Ham v Man Utd (20:15 GMT)

    Chris Adams
    BBC Sport journalist

Saturday's 2-0 win over fellow strugglers Burnley was West Ham's third win in four after 10 games without a victory.

It saw the Irons end a dire run of 21 league games without a clean sheet – their first under Nuno – a welcome shutout that coincided with a debut for on-loan Chelsea defender Axel Disasi and a recall for goalkeeper Mads Hermansen.

In attack, the Hammers are notably more dangerous since January arrivals Valentin Castellano and Pablo entered the fray, having scored at least twice in four consecutive top-flight games for the first time since a run of five in December 2021-January 2022. But one of the main reasons they've won three of their last four league games is Crysencio Summerville.

The rejuvenated Dutch winger is one of the league's in-form players, with a fine display in the FA Cup third-round win over Queens Park Rangers triggering a run of five goals in five consecutive games in all competitions - the first West Ham player to achieve that feat since Jesse Lingard in March/April 2021.

  13. 'Before you talk about tactics, you need to run and fight'published at 18:42 GMT 10 February

    Chelsea v Leeds (19.30 GMT)

    Chelsea

Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior on what he's learned about his side recently: "I've learnt in every half we've played. I've learnt more about the resilience, the character and the spirit. Every team has poor halves against good teams in this league. We can't start in that way. We know we need to start really well."

On Acheampong and Estevao coming into the side: "I'm lucky. Josh is an outstanding young centre-back. The way he's performed in training has been top. We know about Estevao's quality. He's had a difficult spell away from football and he just wants to get back to doing what he loves to do.

On defeat by Leeds at Elland Road: "We need (intensity) in every game. It's simple. Before you talk about tactics, you need to run and fight. Leeds are playing really well. In terms of our last game against them, it's gone. We just want to have a positive performance tonight with lots of quality."

  14. 'We need to use our irritation is a positive way'published at 18:41 GMT 10 February

    Tottenham v Newcastle (19:30 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Thomas Frank on why Joao Palhinha is on the bench against Newcastle: "Just squad selection. I think this suited the game well today.

"For me, any good team effort is both ways. We need to go out there and show that we fight for every inch on the pitch and be front-footed and start well. But the more the fans are behind us, the better.

"I think we have been very irritated that we haven't won in too long time. That irritation needs to be generated into positive energy. We need to use it in every duel, and everything."

I totally back Eddie Howe as manager. Injuries have not helped his cause. For those who are calling for him to go should just take a step back and remember where we were when he arrived. Think of our record at t he time and what he has achieved since. High in the Premier League, Champions League, and their first trophy in 70 years. I don't think it was the manager who was getting booed. Keep going Eddie.

    Len

I was firmly in the Howe stay camp, but I've switched to the Howe go camp after that performance and consistently poor results. We need an elite manager who can attract elite talent, bring fresh ideas, and we need to lose some players, and recent signings, who are just not cutting the mustard, if we are to ever win the Premier League.

The injury list at Spurs was worse under Ange Postecoglou who had finished fifth in the season before and had won everywhere he'd been. Frank has had nowhere near as much scrutiny as Ange, particularly off former players who've never managed.

    Chelsea v Leeds (19:30 GMT)

It was was only two months ago that Chelsea and Leeds last faced each other in the Premier League, but a lot has changed since December.

Prior to that Wednesday night at Elland Road, Leeds had managed only three wins from 13 Premier League games.

But since beating Chelsea 3-1 that night, Daniel Farke's side have transformed their fortunes by winning four of their last 11 games.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are also on the up and back in contention for a place in the top four after winning all of their Premier League games under new manager Liam Rosenior.

  19. Team news: Palmer starts, James out; No Calvert-Lewinpublished at 18:28 GMT 10 February

    Chelsea v Leeds (19:30 GMT)

It's two changes from Chelsea from the side that beat Wolves convincingly on the weekend.

Estevao and Josh Acheampong come into the side, with Pedro Neto and Wesley Fofana making way.

Chelsea XI: Sanchez, Gusto, Acheampong, Chalobah, Cucurella, Andrey Santos, Caicedo, Enzo, Palmer, Estevao, Joao Pedro

Subs: Sharman-Lowe, Badiashile, Fofana, Sarr, Hato, Garnacho, Neto, Delap, Guiu

    Chelsea lineup

There is no place for Dominic Calvert-Lewin in Leeds' matchday squad.

Leeds XI: Darlow, Justin, Rodon, Bogle, Bijol, Gudmundsson, Ampadu, Gruev, Nmecha, Bornauw, Aaronson
