Chelsea supporters chanted the name of former owner Roman Abramovich from the first minute at the Valley and for the third successive game.

It hasn't stopped Liam Rosenior from playing the system that he played at Strasbourg - which is how the owners and directors at BlueCo want to play.

They are building up with three at the back and Jorrel Hato is pushing from left-back into an attacking midfield position.

Liam Rosenior, hands in pockets, is pacing his technical area.

Then Benoît Badiashile is shown a yellow card with just five minutes on the clock for wrestling Miles Leaburn to the ground.

Mark: Villa have run out worthy winners. Gave Spurs a lesson in ball retention and game management. Spurs turned to physicality in the second half but it wasn’t enough, quality won out in the end.

The 41-year-old Englishman is leading his first match as Chelsea manager at the Valley and the cameras are certainly tracking his every move.

The 18th and final FA Cup tie of the day is under way.

There is a coordinated firework show before this match with the Valley absolutely packed with fans.

It's fair to say Chelsea's visit is not being treated the same way as a standard Championship match for the Addicks.

It seems to have gone down very well with the home supporters who are already in great voice.

There are 12 miles of road between Stamford Bridge and the Valley.

For some Charlton fans, it'll be the first time they have seen their team play Chelsea.

The last time they met here was 2007.

The atmosphere at the Valley has been steadily building on a freezing night in South East London.

There is genuine excitement from the Championship club, starved of a glamour tie, and a festival mood around the ground.

It has been a great day of football, and there’s a touch of magic about this tie as Liam Rosenior names his first Blues XI.

Just the 76 goals in today's third round ties.

How many will we see at the Valley?

It's the start of a new era for Chelsea as Liam Rosenior takes charge of the Blues for the first time.

Not long ago Chelsea were being talked up as potential title contenders and Enzo Maresca was celebrating his second manager of the month award at Stamford Bridge.

But it's all change and Rosenior, who has signed a five-and-a-half-year contract with the option for a further year, will have to get Chelsea winning again if they are to make it into the fourth round.

The eight-time FA Cup winners arrive at The Valley without a win in five games.

I understand why there will be a lot of fans after Frank but we saw a reaction in that second half performance. There was fight and there was desire, lacking in a bit of quality, but they were picked off in the first half, that's where the damage was done.

Tottenham produced a second half response, there's no doubting that.

Aston Villa become the first side to eliminate Spurs from the FA Cup in back-to-back seasons since Manchester United in 2007-08 and 2008-09.

An ending like this right in front of the Villa fans, it's still not settled down. It was a great cup tie with lots of drama. Villa were fantastic over all with the quality they've shown, a very professional performance. We wanted drama, we wanted excitement, we got that.

Villa were magnificent in the first half in forward areas, the way they moved the ball with pace, and the energy they showed.

We had to see a different Villa in the second half because of the change in Spurs' attitude. They had to be defensively-minded, to dig deep and get late tackles in, and that's exactly what they did.

It was too little too late from Tottenham.

Morgan Rogers and Joao Palhinha are at the heart of the nonsense which follows the full-time whistle, which appeared to stem from Ollie Watkins' celebrations in front of the Villa fans.

It all threatens to escalate as more and more players get involved but, eventually, things calm down and the Villa players head over to celebrate with their travelling fans.

Their cheers were the only noise louder than the boos which came from the home supporters after another disappointing night.
