'We want to make Tuesday special - that's the target'published at 19:46 BST 11 April
FT: Liverpool 2-0 Fulham
Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk, speaking to BBC MOTD: "A good win. Good to keep a clean sheet as well, feels like ages. It's a win, we take it and move on. It's down to us to be in the best shape possible to make a special evening on Tuesday [against Paris St-Germain]."
On Rio Ngumoha: "Hopefully [he has a bright future], it's down to him and people around him. A good game from him. Important goal and now it's onto the next.
"Scoring the first goal is important. We played against a Fulham that haven't played for a while so they could've come up with anything today. We had to be ready and patient. First half was good, second half a bit of fatigue kicks in but that's normal. To keep a clean sheet and see the work rate, I'm pleased with that. It's just a win, we have to keep going."
Keeping a clean sheet: "One game doesn't define things. It's down to us to keep going. We're going through a season where we haven't been able to build on performances. It's down to us to have a special night on Tuesday - that's the target. So we don't get carried away, look after ourselves, rest up and be ready for an outstanding team on Tuesday that plays with confidence.
"We are at home and we have to show belief that we can do it. It needs a special performance but I'm lucky I have been part of special performances so I will try and bring that across for the team. We need everyone to have the same mindset."
On three points today being a step towards being back in Champions League next season: "Massive, six games left. Every game is massive especially if you look at opponents. We all know how important Champions League is for the club in general but financially too. We want to finish the season in the best way with the best performances we can on the pitch. Today was a good win and that's it."
