On his coming together with Danilo: "I don't remember much. I just remember getting an elbow to the back of my head and landing on my arm. I didn't think anything of it but then I got up and saw he was being stretchered off. Sorry to him and I hope he [Danilo] recovers well.

"For 90 minutes you have to concentrate anyway, regardless of injuries. As soon as I got up everybody tried to boost my moral and confidence to keep going, I have to thank my teammates for that.

"Having Dominic [Solanke] in the team was great, but as a team we have to get on with it and try and score as many goals as we can as a team."

Arsenal

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, speaking to BBC Sport: "At 1-0 it was not enough. We had enough chances in the first half to finish the game but we didn't. Overall very happy.

"Kai Havertz was involved in a lot of positive actions, he scored a great goal. He is in a good place.

"We should have opened the gap in terms of the scoreline much earlier."

Any transfers in?: "The market is open, it is a possibility."

Forest never found another gear after the break - despite Neto saving Willy Boly's header - and as Bournemouth struggled to find a focal point up front Forest never did enough to put the game to bed.

Arsenal

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, speaking to Sky Sports: "I am really happy. With the first game you have some uncertainty in how you will respond.

"We had our moment after 1-0 when we were not in control but after Saka's goal we were much more comfortable. The way the boys go about their job is unbelievable, so very happy.

"We knew Wolves could change the game and they did in the second half but with our changes we became a bit stronger.

"We certainly are. We had a really good pre-season. There are things to improve for sure, but overall very happy.

"The lack of control in the second half [we can improve], we gave so many simple balls away. We also had to finish situations better but overall very happy."

Arsenal dominated the first half and were very dominant throughout most of the game.

David Raya was basically a spectator for the first half, which makes his save [from Strand-Larsen] even better.

Newcastle United

On his goal: “Last season was very difficult for me with injuries. I had a great holiday and I’ve come back fresh. I worked hard in pre-season and I’m ready. I’m very happy to get the goal and help the team get three points.

“I love to score goals and want to score more goals this season, but the most important thing is to help the team, whether it’s with goals, assists or runs back.”

There was little period of worry in the second half as Wolves came out strong but all in all Arsenal were comfortable.

They dominated the game in the first half, broke the press really well and created chances from the back. They looked like they picked up where they left off at the end of last season.

A comfortable home win. A really good start for Mikel Arteta and his side.

"The first 20 minutes were good. We had good chances. We then lost a bit of control of the game and our press didn't work. Always 100% we defended deep very well. We didn't give them a lot of chances and it is three points.

"Saka is unbelievable. There are not a lot of players like him on the planet and he is still so young. He can get better. It is very rare to see a young player like this perform every week at the highest level"

Cosy win for Arsenal, but you definitely get the sense they’ll produce far slicker performances than this as the season goes on.

That probably bodes quite well for Mikel Arteta.

Saka’s second goal was brilliant, and needed as Wolves were just creeping back into it. Once they were 2-0 down, the confidence faded.

Nottingham Forest just about hack Bournemouth's late corner clear and that's that.

A draw is probably fair enough.
