Marisa Olislagers finds the Brighton forward with an excellent ball.

Kirby finds herself at a tight angle and could probably have fired towards the near post, but she instead decides to square it to Rosa Kafaji.

Her pass goes behind Kafaji and the chance is wasted.

She's just trying to get anything on it she can.

What I really liked about that from Brighton was the press earlier on in the play. The way that they all swarmed to try and get the ball back.

Nice idea.

Maisie Symonds dinks a ball over the top of the Liverpool defence towards Rosa Kafaji.

She gets a touch to it but can't trouble the goalkeeper.

Gemma Bonner's so experienced.

Great ball though, outside of the right boot, curling back in towards Fran Kirby. Bonner reads it excellently.

Bex Rayner whips a lovely ball from just inside the Liverpool half towards Fran Kirby, but Gemma Bonner reads it well.

Both teams solid at the back so far.

I criticised Ceri Holland a little bit earlier on in the season because I wanted more from her because I know she's got ability.

I want her to be the leader within the side because she's got so much experience. In the past few games certainly she's really stepped up to that role and it's been really great to see.

Brighton boss Dario Vidosic speaking to Sky Sports: "[Against Chelsea] I think we were naturally a bit frustrated in the first half because we didn't control the game as much as we would have liked. The second half was a great response and that should give us confidence going into today.

"We have been trying to recover everyone as best as possible. A few we are juggling on minutes, so we'll just see how the game goes today. We want to try to start as strongly as possible but to also finish as strongly as possible."

On the team selection: "There are just some of those minute considerations for some that have just come back from injury and others that have quiet a heavy load for this period, so we've just got to see how everyone manages throughout. What we put out today is what we think is the best team to start the game."

Brighton continue to be without three players due to the Asian Cup.

Top scorer Kiko Seike is absent, as are Moeka Minami and Charlie Rule.

Liverpool are without Fuka Nagano and Risa Shimizu.

Japan beat Australia 1-0 to win the competition yesterday.

Liverpool boss Gareth Taylor speaking to Sky Sports: "I think it will be a tough test. It is always a tough test when you play against Brighton. If you look back to our game at St Helen's earlier in the season we played really well and I thought we contained Brighton really well - that is going to be the challenge today. We'll look to exploit the spaces where we can.

"We want to finish off strongly this season. We have had an upturn in results and performances and it is important that we continue that, including today.

"Confidence is good. We always look for a level of performance. That will be dictated by the opposition and what they give us, particularly when we have the ball. The girls have trained well. Confidence levels are good and we are looking forward to the challenge today."

Liverpool are looking to continue their good run and move further from the drop zone this afternoon.

They are currently four points ahead of Leicester having beaten the Foxes last weekend.

It took a while for Liverpool's season to get going, but they have finally managed to turn their form around since the turn of the year.

They have lost just two of their eight games in all competitions in 2026, being defeated by Chelsea and Manchester United in the league.

They returned from the international break last weekend with a 2-0 success at home to Leicester which increased their distance from the drop zone.
