The return of Phallon Tullis-Joyce is a big plus for Manchester United.

The USA international was a huge part of United's excellent start to the season and was nominated for FIFA's Best Goalkeeper Award last month.

Safia Middleton-Patel did particularly well in the Champions League victory over PSG at Old Trafford but Tullis-Joyce gives the home defence a more solid look ahead of some key games, against Lyon and Juventus in Europe, and Tottenham in the WSL and the League Cup.

The teams are out for what are now our three noon kick-offs in the WSL.

London City Lionesses are in sixth place on 15 points after nine matches, and if results go their way today they could rise as high as fourth in the WSL table.

But they need to tighten things up after conceding 19 goals in nine Women's Super League matches. Only second-bottom West Ham have shipped more.

Meanwhile Brighton defeated Leicester City 4-1 at home in their last Women's Super League match to break a four-match winless streak.

Dario Vidosic's side however need to improve their away record, as they only have one point in four games on the road so far this league campaign.

After struggling for form last season Spurs have been making steady progress under Martin Ho since he took the managerial reigns in the summer. They sit on 16 points from nine games played, with ambitions to disrupt the so-called 'Big Four'.

A Spurs win coupled with a draw or defeat for Manchester United this afternoon and they would end the day in those coveted Champions League spots.

It won't be straightforward though as Aston Villa come to town holding the only remaining unbeaten record on the road.

Natalia Arroyo's side have won two and drawn two of their four away games so far this term. They are also unbeaten in their last three WSL games against Spurs dating back to October 2023.

One thing this fixture does guarantee is goals, with the teams notching 12 between them across their last three meetings.

Manchester City boss Andree Jeglertz, speaking to Sky Sports: "Us coaches are always thinking about things we need to improve, and I think that's what drives us to always trying to do a little bit better each game, but of course the results have been great.

"I think that's a crucial thing for us to respect all games because to get the players to perform against Arsenal and Chelsea and those games is easier, but also coming here to an opponent that is desperate of needing points, for us to be dominating the game, we need to put the effort that is needed will be crucial."

Leicester City

Leicester City defender Asmita Ale is the daughter of a former Gurkha soldier. Hailing from Nepal, they were recruited by the British Army and famed for their bravery and dedication.

"My dad is kind of a crazy man. I get my weird side from him, I think," she told the BBC. "He's had a cool life, both my parents have, they both came from Nepal."

Ale's father, Amrit, served around 19 years in the Army. He combined a successful Armed Forces career with life as a talented squash player.

Ale joined Aston Villa aged eight, and it was there that she received her first professional contract after turning 18 in 2019. This saw her become the first footballer of Nepalese origin to sign a professional contract in England.

Ale left Villa for Tottenham Hotspur in 2021, before a loan spell at Leicester turned into a permanent move in the summer of 2024. She has started every WSL game this season under Rick Passmoor.

There was a lukewarm response to Andree Jeglertz being named Manchester City manager in the summer, given he oversaw Denmark lose all three of their group games at Euro 2025.

But the Swedish coach has revitalised City, and they could move six points clear of Chelsea at full time today as they aim to end the Blues' title monopoly.

City's last Women's Super League match saw them triumph 3-0 over Manchester United at home, their eighth straight win.

Meanwhile Leicester are winless in seven, with Rick Passmoor's side looking in real danger of being dragged down to that relegation play-off place.
