Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler, speaking to MOTD: "I think it's two points lost in the end because there were plenty of big chances. We weren't able to score and we weren't able to keep a clean sheet.

"Then we got punished for that one mistake. In the end it was our fault that we didn't leave the pitch as winners.

"There were positives things but we also need to get the result to get out of this circle of bad experiences. It's the business to get results if you want to achieve something.

"We have to get our higher standards back. We can defend better. We have to keep going and we have to trust the process."

On Jacob Murphy: "Jacob is capable of the unexpected. He isw a very unselfish player, so I am very pleased when he scores. We need variety, different sources of goals, even if Alex will grab the headlines. Hopefully we are on an upward trend in that respect."

Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: “I think we competed really well. We work very hard every day, so the boys should be happy and proud.

“I think we’ve been working well. The beginning was hard. We were able to solve a lot of problems that we had last season. It’s about this journey together. Every day is important in improving the team.

“The fans are happy. Now we go back to Nottingham and prepare for our next game. It’s about enjoying the moment. It’s a very hard competition. Every game is so difficult and the next one is going to be very tough.”

“We’re very proud of all the things we’ve been able to achieve, but we’ve achieved nothing yet.”

On Anthony Elanga: “We need all the players to step in and give us a hand in terms of goals. It’s important everybody has the desire to get in the box and score.”

Ipswich Town

Ipswich player Conor Chaplin, speaking to Premier League Productions: "Tough day definitely. We were second best. I don't think we helped ourselves, we need to be better at game management when we are up against it, make better individual decisions to see the threat off.

"The team are disappointed, it's a tough one to take. But we will stick together, there are lessons we will learn going into the next one, we have to find solutions.

On facing Arsenal next: "We'll focus on that in the next few days. We believe we can go there and get a result."

Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo, speaking to PLP: “It was a good game, a tough game. We knew how hard it was going to be.

“We had to change [our approach] and the boys did well. It was about holding the result. Brentford caused us problems in the second half but we dealt with it, which shows the character and resilience in the team.

“We’re improving, becoming more mature in terms of control. Overall it was a good performance. Until the last minute it was about keeping the clean sheet. That save from Matz Sels [from Kristoffer Ajer] was huge for us.

“It’s not about the table. It’s about improving, realising that there is still a long way to go and that we’ve achieved nothing yet.”

Newcastle United

Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, speaking to Premier League Productions: "We've been playing so much better lately, and it has been showing in the results. It's been a long time coming for Newcastle, my first one [hat-trick] here. I'm buzzing.

"Just scoring goals will give confidence, and help me and the team. It doesn't matter if it's one, two or three.

On fellow scorer Jacob Murphy: "He's really helpful, a team player. I am obviously happy for him that he gets rewarded with points too."

Another chapter to this highly impressive Nottingham Forest season.

Ruthless in attack, but more so, defensively brilliant. You’re beginning to wonder just how far Nuno Espírito Santo’s team can go in these next few months.

Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest defender Ola Aina, speaking to PLP: “It’s a bit of a dream [to be in the top four]. It’s good to get the three points and good for the fans. They deserve it as well.

“We’re working well as a group. [The manager] has his philosophy and he’s brought that into the club. When he arrived it was a bit touch and go, but we’ve got the group now and we feel at ease.

On his goal: “When I was younger, I used to score goals left, right and centre. I’m just happy I got one today and helped the team get the three points.”

This is a rematch of Wednesday's Carabao Cup quarter-final, when Arsenal scored from open play. I guess Christmas miracles do happen.

Mikel Arteta's side edged that tie and this game is going to be just as close. Crystal Palace are much improved in recent weeks and have really turned a corner.

I watched the analysis of their win over Brighton on MOTD2 last week, when they were focusing on the Eagles' back three and the consistency of Marc Guehi, Maxence Lacroix and Trevoh Chalobah, who have now played together for the past 12 games.

So this is not going to be easy for the Gunners. I expected them to kick on this season but that has not happened - they have only lost two of their first 16 league games, but they only won half of them.

Arsenal really need a win here, though, and I think they will find a way of getting it.

I am going for a 1-0 victory and it doesn't matter if their goal comes from another set-piece, because they all count. As I've said before, a few other teams would love to carry the same threat they do from corners.

Sutton's prediction: 0-1

Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest winger Anthony Elanga, speaking to PLP: “Most of the players were on the floor at the end. It’s difficult to come here. It wasn’t easy to get three points, but it was important to get them and now we just need to keep going.

“We’re full of confidence right now. We lost to Man City a few weeks back and that didn’t take our confidence away. It just shows the camaraderie we have as a team and the relationship we have with each other and the manager.

“The coach is an amazing guy. He’s someone who always wants to push me and get the best out of me. He’s been able to get his ideas across.

“We can’t really relax. We have a game on Boxing Day [at home to Tottenham]. We have to take it game-by-game. It’s good, but the season’s still very long. We’re just focusing on the next game now.”

On his second-half goal: “It’s just important to get myself in the box and into areas where I can score. I just want to keep clicking and being consistent in what I do.”

Just when questions were being asked of Eddie Howe, Newcastle have responded with three fantastic victories in just over a week.

A 4-0 beating of Leicester, a 3-1 victory over Brentford to reach the Carabao Cup semi-finals and now another four-goal success against a newly-promoted side.

Newcastle will spring into the top half with this win, while it is a day to forget for Ipswich, who remain 18th, two points adrift of safety.

Howe's side took the lead after 26 seconds. They never looked like losing that advantage and this is going to be their easiest win of the season. They've been superb and outclassed Ipswich from start to finish.
