Wolfsburg have just booked their place in the quarter-finals - where they will face Lyon - with a 2-0 win against Juventus in Turin.

After drawing 2-2 in the first leg in Germany last week, goals from Vivien Endemann and Cora Zicai secured Wolfsburg a 4-2 aggregate victory.

Juventus took 26 shots and hit the woodwork, but could not find the goals they needed.

Atletico Madrid might feel hard done by to be coming into this second leg with a three goal deficit.

Manchester United won the first leg 3-0, but the Spanish side had more shots (12 vs 9), a better xG figure (0.8 vs 0.5), more touches in the opposition box (20 vs 15) and more possession (53% vs 47%).

Atleti also led each of those categories when they met United in the league phase, but lost 1-0.

They have failed to score with any of their 30 shots against United in 2025-26 (nine on target) and have conceded from four of the five shots on target they have faced.

The football world has spent the past 48 hours debating the events in Lisbon on Tuesday and the racism allegations made by Real Madrid's Brazilian forward Vinicius against Benfica midfielder Gianluca Prestianni, which he denies.

I asked Tullis-Joyce in yesterday's press conferences for her thoughts on the wider cultural issues affecting the game, which continue to rear their head to the disgust of virtually everyone.

"I think it's a very big question," she said.

"You're also asking the daughter of a black woman so I have been adjacent to the experience of a black woman in society and it's no surprise to me.

"It's shameful that situations like that are continuing to happen.

"I recently met with United's campaign, All Red All Equal, so I know that already on our doorstep, we're looking internally at what we're doing as a club.

"That's where we can really look at what we can do locally here at United and then keep branching out through our social media or content and making sure people know it's simply not okay, period, full stop. It's not okay."

Atletico Madrid face a monumental task tonight.

After the first legs of the knockout play-off ties, no team had kept more clean sheets than Manchester United in the 2025-26 Champions League (four, level with Arsenal).

United goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce has played in five of United's seven games in the competition this season, keeping clean sheets in four of them.

The US international has saved 84.2% of the shots she has faced, bettered only by Valerenga's Tove Enblom (84.4%).

Melvine Malard was involved in all three of Manchester United’s goals in the first leg, scoring one and setting up the other two.

Since the 2021-22 season, Malard is one of only five players to both score 10+ goals and assist 10+ goals in the Women’s Champions League.

The others are Aitana Bonmati (18 goals, 17 assists), Mariona Caldentey (15 goals, 10 assists), Caroline Graham Hansen (14 goals, 13 assists) and current United team-mate Fridolina Rolfo (13 goals, 10 assists).

When Manchester United lost the first leg of their final qualifier in Norway against Brann in September - after losing a large amount of kit en-route - it seemed by no means certain Marc Skinner's side would even make the main draw of the Champions League.

As it turned out Elisabeth Terland scored a hat-trick in the return leg to ease United through.

Since then, they have grown into the competition.

Victories over Atletico Madrid and PSG - who were beaten in front of over 14,000 at Old Trafford - put them in a good position regarding qualification. Beating Juventus in the final league phase game ensured they entered the play-offs as a seeded team.

With a 3-0 advantage from last week's first leg in Spain, United are virtually through to a last eight meeting with Bayern Munich, which will be played at the end of March and beginning of April.

Manchester United have one foot in the quarter-finals thanks to a clinical attacking display in the first leg in Madrid last week.

A superb early strike from Elisabeth Terland put Atletico Madrid on the back foot, before Melvine Malard doubled United's advantage shortly before half-time.

United rode their luck at times as the hosts pushed for a way back into the tie - the crossbar denied Vilde Boe Risa a goal against her former club - but Julia Zigiotti Olme's late strike secured a 3-0 victory.

Marc Skinner makes four changes to the Manchester United team who beat London City Lionesses on the weekend.

They remain without Anna Sandberg, who Skinner confirmed yesterday will be out for four to eight weeks with a knee injury. Ella Toone is also out with a hip issue until the end of March.

Jayde Riviere is injured so not involved and Gabby George drops to the bench - which includes just four outfield players.

Simi Awujo is replaced by Julia Zigiotti Olme and Melvine Malard comes in for Ellen Wangerheim.

Last night Arsenal qualified for the quarter-finals of the Uefa Women's Champions League, now it's Manchester United's turn.

They face Atletico Madrid at Leigh Sports Village tonight in the second leg of their play-off tie, having won 3-0 in the first leg in the Spanish capital last week.

Atleti have a mountain to climb, but United still have a job to do.

A quarter-final showdown with Bayern Munich awaits.
