Wolves did not look like getting into the Southampton half let alone scoring. But it took just a bit of magic from Matheus Cunha and that second goal has settled them right down.

This is lovely, lovely football from Brentford.
There's a lovely stepover by Vitaly Janelt in the build-up, before the German threads a inch-perfect ball in behind the Bournemouth defence for Yoane Wissa to run onto.
Wissa has Kepa running out to confront him but just nonchalantly dinks it over him and into the empty net.

Southampton are fuming as they felt they should have had a free kick in the build up to Matheus Cunha's goal, believing Cameron Archer was fouled. Assistant Matt Gill slammed his water bottle down and Aaron Ramsdale was booked for dissent.

What a strike that is from Matheus Cunha! He got the ball and turned and you just knew he was going to hit it and boy does he. He whips it high, wide, and to the right of Aaron Ramsdale. He's got no right to score from there.

Kepa Arrizabalaga hasn't had the best couple of minutes in the Bournemouth goal to be honest.
He misjudges a cross from the left and ends up relying on Milos Kerkez to head behind for a corner.

What a huge goal! Matheus Cunha picks the ball up 25 yards from goal and the Southampton defence decide not to engage so smashes it into the top corner. What a finish!

It's the place to go if you want to see goals, the Gtech Community Stadium. Bournemouth sat too deep after scoring and Brentford have punished them.
Again though I'm not happy if my goalkeeper concedes tis. Kepa has left a pathway around him and inside he post. To let one in at the near post is criminal.

Jean-Clair Todibo is down in a heap but referee Stuart Attwell is not interested and Everton are on the attack through Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
His cross into the box falls nicely for Jesper Lindstrom but he heads it wide.
That was a great chance for Everton.

There was a change for Wolves at half-time with goalscorer Pablo Sarabia making way for Jean-Ricner Bellegarde.

The lead doesn't last long though.
It's lovely stuff from Brentford too as Mikkel Damsgaard is fed in down the right channel.
It's a tight angle but he manages to drill past Kepa at the near post. The loanee keeper will feel he should have done better, though.
This is turning into a cracking little game.

The free-kick was awarded after Dominic Calvert-Lewin was fouled.
Moments later Jarrod Bowen goes close with a deflected attempt.

A short corner is passed around and ends up with Justin Kluivert on the edge of the area. He exchanges passes with Lewis Cook before slotting past Mark Flekken.

Russell Martin will be delighted with the way his team have played, and I don't think he could have asked for much more aside from a goal. They have been dominant but haven't created the chances and been clinical in the final third.

Having won just one of their six Premier League home games against Aston Villa between 2009 and 2014 (D2 L3), Liverpool have now won five of their last six at Anfield against the Villans (D1).
Only Manchester United (12) and Chelsea (7) have won more Premier League away games against Liverpool than Aston Villa (6, level with Arsenal).
Aston Villa have lost 16 of their last 18 Premier League away games against sides starting the day top of the table (D2), including each of the last nine in a row. Indeed, they’ve only won one of their 23 such games, beating Leeds United 2-1 at Elland Road in January 2000.
Liverpool have conceded the first goal in their last two Premier League games, but avoided defeat in both (2-2 v Arsenal, 2-1 v Brighton). Indeed, their win against Brighton was the 100th time they’ve come from behind to win a Premier League match, the third team to reach this milestone in the competition.
Both of Aston Villa’s Premier League defeats this season have come against the two north London sides, losing 4-1 against Tottenham last time out. The Villans last lost consecutive league games in May 2023.
Only Manchester City (32) have faced fewer shots on target than Liverpool in the Premier League this season (34), with the Reds also conceding the fewest goals (6) and having the lowest xG against figure this term (8.1).
No team has scored more Premier League goals this season from either crosses (6) or set-piece situations (5, excluding penalties) than Aston Villa (level with Arsenal in both cases).
