Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta on Arsenal's transfer window: "I think we have tremendous players, a magnificent group of human beings. We always want to be better and we cannot deny that. The most important thing is to try to improve our own players and then in terms of the numbers and quality."

On facing Brighton: "We try to prepare like every manager and every team does by giving them the exact and relevant information that can help to win the game.

"We have tried to do the same for tomorrow against a team that is doing really well. It's one of the teams with a new coach and a new regime. It's going to be a tough match."

Arsenal, their win at Aston Villa last week was a bit of a statement because last season Villa did the double over them.

Two teams with a 100% record. Brighton have got off to a flyer under Fabian Hurzeler and they are very expansive in the way they play, they are brave, they back themselves.

But it's Arsenal, at home, at the Emirates, I think they will win this one.

Sutton's prediction: 2-0

Nontribal: Having watched Raheem play over a number of years I can’t understand why there is so much negativity. When he is at his best he is tricky to handle and is capable of scoring important goals. He does have periods when his passing or finishing is below par but that often comes across as a confidence issue which a decent manager can help with. Chelsea's hierarchy may regret not treating him better.

Here's one deadline day deal that went under the radar but is worth a mention.

AFC Croydon, who play in the eighth tier of English football, have signed former Crystal Palace and Senegal defender Pape Souare.

The non-league club's co-owners include music superstar Stormzy and former Palace star Wilfried Zaha, who joined Lyon on a season-long loan from Galatasaray on Friday.

On the club's transfer window: "I love it. It shows that he [Tony Bloom] is very ambitious. It is now up to me, the players and the staff to make something out of these signings.

"We have to go step-by-step, but we will focus on the journey. I am sure we can play a season that we can remember."

Brighton have made plenty of changes this season. Then again, getting a combined £300m for Moises Caicedo, Marc Cucurella and Alexis Mac Allister - among others - in the past couple of campaigns does give you some leeway to splash the cash yourself.

‌The Seagulls spent big this summer and it looks very good indeed so far. They aren't worried about their finances clearly, but they aren't cowed by the big names when they swan into town either.

‌They were at least as good as Manchester United last Saturday, and the biggest thing to underline is that when they did secure the three points through Joao Pedro in the 95th minute, it wasn't really a surprise to anyone.

‌The Premier League at its best shows little respect even if you are one of the biggest clubs on the planet.

Half-empty-half-full: This has to be one of the strangest decisions ever, Sterling not good enough but Sancho is.

"We know the qualities he has. It is a bigger step-up for us, we have brought a top talent who has a loads of experience, hopefully he impacts the team in a good way."

On Sterling's Man City record: "He was playing under a great manager with great players around him - if you do that he will cause so many issues to a team."

On Leandro Trossard starting: "They all train really well and they deserve a chance. Leo has been fantastic through pre-season and he deserves a chance today."

On Brighton: "We have identified certain opportunities, but they are very consistent in the way they play, they are aggressive with a high-line and when you allow the space against them they are really dangerous."

There's been some crazy sums of money spent this summer but surely the £55m Manchester City invested in Kevin de Bruyne NINE YEARS ago has to be one of the shrewdest investments of recent times.

De Bruyne was 24 when he joined from Wolfsburg on 30 August 2015.

"We bought Kevin because we thought he was a very creative player, he has goals in him and because this team always tries to play attractive and offensive football and, for that, you need good players," said City boss Manuel Pellegrini at the time.

De Bruyne has since gone on to score 69 goals and provide 113 assists in 262 Premier League appearances.

Fair to say it's been a case of money well spent.
