Grimsby Town CEO Polly Bancroft, speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live about the pitch: "For the neutral watching it, it might be a bit of a mud bath not often seen on live TV but these are the conditions we're working with. We've done an awful lot to try and get the game on and might be more of a leveller than what Wolves are used to.

"When the referee arrived today he said he's here to get the game on, so we're grateful for that. We're pretty confident we'll get the game going and looking forward to seeing how it plays out."

"We can even talk about what has happened earlier on here this season [Grimsby beating Man Utd]. This is the FA Cup, this is what it is. This will be a very difficult challenge."

On team news: "Jose Sa has a slight issue with his foot, hopefully he'll be fine for Wednesday (v Arsenal)."

Grimsby and Wolves met in the FA Cup semi-final at Manchester United's Old Trafford ground in 1939.

Wolves won 5-0 but the game is remembered for the crowd it attracted.

There were 76,962 inside Old Trafford - a record for the venue that still stands today.

Referee Samuel Barrott has deemed a very wet Blundell Park playable as Grimsby Town host Premier League Wolves.

There's plenty of sand being thrown down on the playing surface and sweeping brushes have been used to remove water from the outskirts of the pitch.

This weekend we have already seen Port Vale against Bristol City postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, but the fourth round tie in Cleethorpes will go ahead.

I know all about Grimsby because I was at Blundell Park for their Carabao Cup win over Manchester United earlier in the season.

Could something similar happen again? Yes, definitely. There will be another cracking atmosphere and David Artell and his players will fancy another upset, I am sure of that.

This is a horrible game for Wolves, but it is an important one for their manager Rob Edwards. He needs to find a way of getting through this tie, which is something Ruben Amorim could not do with United.

Carlos Vicente's out of order because I don't know why he's diving when he can get a shot away.

It is a dive. There's no contact whatsoever. It's a deserved yellow card.

Officials have come in for lots of stick this weekend for some contentious decisions.

But referee Paul Tierney gets this spot on as he books Carlos Vicente for diving inside the Leeds box.
