Championship strugglers Leicester City are in talks to sign midfielder Divine Mukasa from Premier League side Manchester City on loan for the remainder of the season.

Highly-rated teenager Mukasa has broken into the City first team this season, making six appearances in all competitions.

The 18-year-old may also sign a new contract at Etihad Stadium before a possible move into the second tier.

Interim Foxes boss Andy King confirmed interest in the player on Saturday, saying, external, external after the 2-0 loss against Charlton: “He [Mukasa] is a very promising young player. It’s something the club have been trying to pursue. If we can get him, that’s great news. We’ve seen a lot of him and we rate him very highly.”

    Coventry City

Big day for the owner of Coventry City... once in a lifetime position and the teams below us adding depth. Super Frank needs a left-back and ideally a goalscorer - fingers crossed.

    David, Chippenham

Coventry need two new centre-backs and a left-back urgently. I would offload the current ones on free transfers just to save their wages.

    Christopher, Peterborough

  3. Keeper exits Poshpublished at 10:44 GMT 2 February

    Deadline day

News of another departure which could lead to further movement later today.

Goalkeeper Will Blackmore has left Peterborough United by mutual consent after making 10 appearances in more than five years with the League One club.

  4. Leicester City in search of strikerspublished at 10:40 GMT 2 February

    Deadline day

    Leicester City

    BBC Radio Leicester's Owynn Palmer-Atkin:

It has been pretty clear, since the summer really, that Leicester City need to invest in a striker.

The absence of Jamie Vardy this season has been telling, with just seven goals in over 50 appearances combined between Jordan Ayew and Patson Daka this campaign.

Leicester will be looking to utilise the loan market, to try to bolster their squad today. That will include the arrival of Manchester City youngster, Divine Mukasa on an initial loan agreement, which was all but confirmed by the Foxes interim boss Andy King following the defeat against Charlton over the weekend.

Another arrival could be Joe Aribo. Reports suggest he could join on loan from fellow Championship side Southampton. You would imagine the hope here would be to add some experience to a very young midfield, but also numbers after the injury to Hamza Choudhury over the weekend.

We are also expecting Jamaal Lascelles to join the Foxes from Newcastle United on a permanent deal. After struggling with injuries and finding minutes on the pitch at St James' Park limited it appears that Leicester have won the race for his signature.

In truth, the Foxes need bodies through the door but without a permanent first-team manager and the club still waiting on the arrival of the new technical director you cannot help but wonder whether they may well only commit to loans before a proper rebuild in the summer.

  5. West Brom limited by financespublished at 10:34 GMT 2 February

    Deadline day

    West Bromwich Albion

    BBC Radio WM's Steve Hermon:

After recent dismal displays, Albion fans may feel that an entirely new team is required. That of course is unrealistic, both with the time constraints and more importantly, the Baggies’ financial situation.

They have been very close to breaching Profit and Sustainability (P&S) regulations for a while now and that challenge is still not over.

That means the likelihood is just one more deal will be done to add to the loan signing of right wing-back Danny Imray. It was initially thought a central midfielder was the priority, but the shopping list has changed because of Eric Ramsay’s style of play and injuries in other areas.

Forward Karlan Grant is out for three months, so the Baggies are interested in bringing former academy product, Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloba back to The Hawthorns. The 19-year-old left to join Aston Villa in 2023 and starred in their Europa League comeback victory over RB Salzburg last week.

There are not expected to be any major departures from the club.

  6. Ipswich need a proven goalscorerpublished at 10:30 GMT 2 February

    Deadline day

    Ipswich Town

    BBC Radio Suffolk's Graeme McLoughlin:

A striker, and one who is guaranteed to bring goals, ought to be Ipswich Town's number one priority today.

George Hirst has had further injury issues at times this season and accepts he should have more than six goals for the season.

His main back-up, Ivan Azon, has found the net just twice during his first season in English football.

Town played a blinder by bringing in Kieffer Moore on loan two years ago to help with their push for promotion, but they may have to spend big this time around.

If they do not, boss Kieran McKenna has said he is happy to crack on with a squad he feels has been improving.

Well, well! I have been a loyal Millwall supporter for 65 years of ups, downs and Sideways. Since Alex Neil and our new players the football has been great and we are in the mix. Come on you Lions. PS Premier League before I die!

    Bob, London

Being a Coventry fan, I don't see any incomings today and with our recent form being shaky, I'm worried that all the hard work will be for nothing and miss out on promotion. Hope I'm proved wrong.

    Steve, Warwick

Good news, Steve. It looks like midfielder Frank Onyeka will be joining the Sky Blue army from Brentford, as Katie Stafford reported earlier.

  8. Lampard to respond to recent wobble at Championship summit??published at 10:18 GMT 2 February

Things are not looking as rosy as they were for Championship leaders Coventry.

Manager Frank Lampard admits his side are in a "difficult moment" after seeing their lead at the top of the Championship disappear. The Sky Blues' 2-1 loss at Queens Park Rangers over the weekend saw them stay top of the table but they are now level on points with second-placed Middlesbrough.

We reported earlier that Frank Oneyka could be on his way to the Coventry Building Society Arena, but will we see Lampard make any other moves in the market today?

  9. Nypan returns to Manchester Citypublished at 10:15 GMT 2 February

Middlesbrough have announced that midfielder Sverre Nypan has returned to parent club Manchester City after his loan at the Riverside was mutually terminated.

The 21-year-old Norwegian made 21 appearances for Boro after joining in the summer, but made only three starts.

Watford have announced the departure of midfielder Moussa Sissoko.

The 36-year-old has signed for Greek Super League side Panathinaikos having made 61 appearances for the Hornets, scoring six goals.

BBC Sport understands midfielder Frank Onyeka will join Coventry City on loan from Brentford.

It’s a loan deal with the obligation to buy, based on conditions including promotion.

It’s a big boost for Frank Lampard’s side who are in a difficult moment at the top of the Championship table.

  13. Expecting Portsmouth to have a busy daypublished at 10:00 GMT 2 February

    Deadline day

    Portsmouth

Andrew Moon, BBC Radio Solent commentator

On Saturday night John Mousinho said this will be the busiest end to a window in his time at Portsmouth. Nothing concrete has happened since so today is set to be hectic.

All eyes remain on Callum Lang - will Preston finally meet Pompey’s demands which will allow him to make his move to the north west?

Gustavo Caballero was spotted twice in Portsmouth yesterday, the Paraguayan winger should complete his loan move from Santos today.

There is likely to be further additions as well, therefore departures will be necessary.

Jordan Archer and Tom McIntyre are both free to leave. Jacob Farrell could also be on his way out on loan and what of Florian Bianchini? The Swansea loanee's place in Pompey’s 25-man squad looks vulnerable.

It is going to be busy. John Mousinho will face the press at 14:30 (GMT) to preview tomorrow's match with Ipswich. I suspect the game itself will not be top of the agenda!

  14. Wales set for Huddersfieldpublished at 09:56 GMT 2 February

    Gareth Vincent, BBC Sport Wales

Bobby Wales has been linked with a number of clubs after it became clear Swansea City would allow the young forward to leave on loan in this window, and it is Huddersfield Town who look to have won the race for his signature.

Wales is highly regarded at Swansea having joined from Kilmarnock last summer, but he has made only five substitute appearances this season.

Swansea hope the 20-year-old will get more regular game-time as part of a Huddersfield squad chasing promotion from League One under Liam Manning.

  15. Swansea close on Waltapublished at 09:52 GMT 2 February

    Gareth Vincent, BBC Sport Wales:

Swansea City are expecting to complete the signing of Finland international Leo Walta today.

The attacking midfielder arrived in Wales for a medical yesterday and is set to join from Sirius, having scored 16 goals for the Swedish side in the 2025 Allsvenskan season.

Swansea are also looking to sign a centre-back on loan today after Kaelan Casey was recalled from his loan spell at the Championship club earlier in the window.

  16. 'Szmodics one to watch'published at 09:46 GMT 2 February

    Deadline day

    Derby County

    BBC Radio Derby's Dominic Dietrich:

I’m told it’s very calm around Derby County today, with five players leaving during the January transfer window, their ducks are in a row financially as they look to make a couple of additions between now and 19:00 GMT.

Sammie Szmodics will be one to watch. As I understand it, Derby have made their offer, it’s been rejected but the question will be if Ipswich choose to lower their value and accept the Rams' price in order to get him off the books to help their Profit & Sustainability bottom line.

From what I gather, the Rams won't get involved in an auction for the forward.

They also have a loan slot available so it will be interesting to see if they can replicate the success of Everton's Harrison Armstrong this time last season as he helped the Rams survive following a late winter move.

  17. Leicester trying to sign Newcastle captain Lascellespublished at 09:42 GMT 2 February

Caretaker Foxes manager Andy King is looking for reinforcements to help fix their ailing Championship season.

Lascelles is out of contract at the end of the season and had been expected to leave St James' Park.

The 32-year-old has made 253 appearances for Newcastle since joining from Nottingham Forest in 2014.

The Foxes are also expected to sign midfielder Joe Aribo from Southampton on loan. Aribo has made 111 appearances for Saints since joining in 2022 from Rangers

They are looking for a new manager having sacked Marti Cifuentes this month and are 16th in the Championship, with one win in their last six league games.
