Leading the reversal in fortunes has been Ousmane Dembele's newly found confidence in front of goal, with the 27-year-old finally realising the potential of his talent.

The France international, despite arguably being the face of the club with Kylian Mbappe gone, has scarcely been given any kind of preferential treatment.

He was notably dropped for the trip to face Arsenal in October, for arriving late to training, a move which Enrique later branded more recently as "the best thing I've done to him".

After a needless sending off in the defeat by Bayern Munich, Dembele was again relegated to the bench for the following league games.

With 18 goals across all competitions since the turn of the year, the 27-year-old has scored more in two months than any single season of his to date.

Is this where Liverpool's season hits a bump in the road?

The Reds will go SIXTEEN points clear at the top of the Premier League if they beat Southampton on Saturday - as nearest rivals Arsenal do not play Manchester United until Sunday.

Liverpool, who face Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley in 11 days, have won the league-European Cup in the same season on two occasions - 1976-77 and 1983-84.

They'll be confident of achieving that feat for a third time if they can get past Paris St-Germain.

Virgil van Dijk is Liverpool's most important player.

The person with the most touches in the Premier League this season is Virgil van Dijk. He is having a lot of time with the ball at his feet, he can dictate the tempo.

He can draw the opposition on or hit a diagonal ball to Mo Salah. When his team is struggling he will put his foot on the ball and regulate the tempo.

Fair to say home fans put on quite a welcoming for the PSG team coach.

Liverpool boss Arne Slot speaking to TNT Sports: "It is difficult to say about first impressions because the fans are here but they are not singing yet. In this stage of the tournament you know what to expect. For me tonight is more about the quality Paris Saint-Germain has. It will probably be the toughest game we have played so far in Europe.

"They do things really well in every aspect of the game, similar to us, but the main threat as always is that front three. They don't only have quality but they are lightning fast, Dembele and Barcola change direction so quickly. You can compare them to the wingers of Man City, Doku and Savinho, and that was a challenge for us, so I'm interested to see how things go tonight.

"Mo has always been a very, very good player and he still is. What he maybe added is even more experience. He is calm. He is not frustrated if he misses a chance. He knows where to be in each moment. When he has a chance his finishing always looks calm and cool. He knows how to hit the ball.

"Instilling our will on them is almost impossible because of the risks they take. It is a different game to Newcastle and even Man City. This team if they do the same as they have done in the last games, pressing one v one all over the pitch, they are all over you. We need to manage that in the right way and understand when to play and when to bring our forwards in good situations."

Liverpool will have 2,000 fans inside the Parc des Princes by kick-off for their club's first game in the French capital since the 2022 Champions League final.

Three years ago Reds fans were penned in and teargassed outside the Stade de France - around 14 kilometres away from the Parc des Princes - which caused the kick-off to the showpiece event to be delayed by 36 minutes.

An independent report found Uefa bore primary responsibility for the chaotic scenes.

It'll take a big performance from Liverpool tonight.

If Liverpool get out of here with a draw they'll feel very happy. Paris St. Germain will feel if they can win this game with a couple of goals, they can go to Anfield and hit them on the counter-attack.

Ryan Gravenberch got a lot of attention earlier on in the season, but I'm a huge Alexis Mac Allister fan.

He's brilliant for his size and stature, the amount of balls he wins back, and starts attacks again is quite incredible.

Dominik Szoboszlai is the unsung hero. He doesn't provide as many goals and assists that he'd quite like, but it's his running power that starts off that press and allows Liverpool to get up the pitch.

Timon Wellenreuther may well have just kept Feyenoord in this tie after he dived brilliantly down to his right to keep out Piotr Zielinski's penalty after Marcus Thuram was tripped in the box.

Bojan Krkic has been through many of the highs and lows that football has to offer - from being hyped as the next big thing to suffering a serious injury that hampered his hopes of hitting the heights he was perhaps capable of.

But the former Barcelona wonderkid is now using all of that experience to help guide the next generation of stars, preparing them for both the good times and the bad.

He is back at the club he started his career at, working in a football co-ordinator role at Barcelona, with his primary focus on monitoring the youth at the club's famed La Masia - the youth academy he came through.

Bojan told BBC Radio 5 Live's Euro Leagues podcast: "I am quite young at 34, I could still be playing but the decisions you have to make in life sometimes you have to decide, and I decided to stop playing and start a new life in football.

"Right now there are many things to do in this big club, co-ordinate all the young players who come to train with us, to evaluate these young players and see when they can be ready to train with us, and when they have some struggle situations - injured or whatever - to chat with them."
