England have played Iceland 10 times, winning eight and drawing one.

They did lose their most recent game against Saturday's opponents but that was in July 2009, so it might not have too much of a bearing on the outcome.

Sarina Wiegman asked for a "clear win" in their World Cup qualifying opener against Ukraine on Tuesday and her players delivered. Eventually.

Goalless in the first half, they cut loose in the second, with doubles from Alessia Russo, Georgia Stanway and Jess Park to run out 6-1 winners.

Even that wasn't good enough for Bayern Munich midfielder Stanway who was "very disappointed" England conceded.

After all, finishing ahead of Spain in Group A3 could come down to goal difference.

The winners of Group A secure automatic qualification for next summer's World Cup in Brazil.

Already, April's home match with Spain and away game in June look absolutely critical to England's chances of finishing in top spot.

Welcome to the City Ground, home of Nottingham Forest and where England will tomorrow play their first home qualifier for the 2027 Women's World Cup in Brazil.

The Lionesses got their campaign off to a winning start in midweek by thrashing Ukraine 6-1, all of the goals coming in the second half.

Today, England manager Sarina Wiegman will address the media knowing only a win will do.

The Lionesses host world champions Spain next month, and only the group winners qualify automatically for the World Cup.
