Super Saturday starts in stylepublished at 06:32 BST
FT: New Zealand 1-5 Belgium; Egypt 1-1 Iran
Image source, Getty ImagesGoodness me. That was a dangerous amount of drama to try to absorb before breakfast on a Saturday morning.
As the dust settles Belgium have leapt to the top of Group G courtesy of a thumping 5-1 win over New Zealand, showing glimpses of their potential.
Iran looked to be joining them in the last-32 as runners-up when veteran defender Shoja Khalilzadeh turned home a loose ball against Egypt deep into stoppage time, but it was overruled by VAR for a marginal offside and as such the Pharaohs are the ones who now face Australia in the next round.
Iran face a nervy wait to see if they will make it through - as it stands they will face Switzerland in Vancouver, but you can click here for all the last-32 fixtures and third-place permutations.
Thanks for your company and all your messages on this breathless morning.
Enjoy your Saturday, oh, and it's only 15.5 hours until England face Panama, don't forget.
