On whether West Ham are now safe from the relegation play-off:

I think they have done it. I really struggle to see Leicester getting victories or points with the games that they have got left. That sets up a really exciting play-off game.

West Ham United

West Ham vice captain Viviane Asseyi speaking to the BBC: "It wasn't easy. It was not our best game to be honest but the main thing is to get the three points. We are all proud with the clean sheet, because we concede a lot of goals.

"As the striker I want the goals as much as I can and to be in their half but of course you have to defend as well and give as much as you can for the team. We have to score more goals, myself as well, I had to finish some actions in the first half.

On her relationships with Ueki and Martinez in the front three: "What we do well is play for each other. We know the movement to create space for the other one. All three of us know we need to be better in front of goal but we keep working a lot to be at our best."

On the team spirit: "When you are here you have to give everything for the club. We are a team. We are all here to fight for each other. It is a good group, if you see our dressing room them you will know what I mean."

West Ham boss Rita Guarino speaking to the BBC: "The work that the players have done today is very, very important. Before the game we knew that Liverpool have improved a lot in possession with the combinations and are very unpredictable in the midfield.

"Liverpool have talented players that can make the difference. So we were very focused on being veyr organised in defence.

"We created some chances in the first half, maybe two or three, we didn't have many in the second. Liverpool needed to push [for the equaliser] so it is obvious that we defend more when they are doing more up front,

"Obviously the plan was not to defend in the second half of course. We did not find the calm to play with the ball in possession so we didn't create a lot."

On whether she feels her side are safe from the relegation play-off: "Mathematically it doesn't show but of course it is three important points especially with just lhree games left for Leicester, it's big. We will have to wait for Wednesday and see."

On growing next season: "We have ambition. I have ambition. The club has ambition. We need to grow and work day by day and of course we are looking to improve the team in the summer, that is one of th goals we want to achieve."

Liverpool

Liverpool manager Gareth Taylor on where the match went wrong for his side: "That first half. We didn't compete enough. We were second-best and regressed into a shadow of ourselves. We can't do that.

"We concede a goal and then grew into the game but by that stage West Ham had something to hold on to.

"You can make all the excuses you want but you have to compete in games. That's the minimum. You have to earn the right and we never earned that right today. It's a lesson learned for us. We've lost the game not doing the basics well enough.

"The big lesson is to give the minimum. Running, sprinting, fighting. You have to do those things and earn the right. Lots of frustrating things today. We need to be better."

West Ham manager Rita Guarino: "I'm happy for the performance from this team and the result and the three points. I'm happy with every player.

"We didn't have the chance to progress very well today, but obviously the organisation of the defence is something we work a lot on."

On whether her side has enough to survive: "It's not mathematic so we need to wait until the next game. We have to respect Leicester and then we will see."

Liverpool

Liverpool defender Jenna Clark: "I think we were just a bit flat, especially in the first half. When you start a game like that it's hard to get back into it.

"We wanted three points from today. That'll be the same intention going into the games remaining."

West Ham United

West Ham defender Estelle Cascarino: "I'm really happy for this result - we get the three points."

On her two goalline clearances: "I didn't have time to think, the ball arrived and I just put my head there. I just try to give my best."

On whether West Ham have enough points already to survive: "I don't know if it is. We still have two games to play. We will play to win those games. "

It's a massive win for West Ham. Credit to them, the game plan was spot on. In the first half they were a lot stronger and offered more of a threat.

Liverpool really came out strongly in the second half, did everything they could to put the ball in the back of the net, but West Ham dug in.

They got the blocks, the clearances, the defensive headers in and won it a ugly.

Today West Ham did not look like a team that have conceded 41 goals this season.

They were organised, they were solid and really resilient. Liverpool had lots of possession and lots of purple patches where they put them under pressure but they were able to ride through it. A hard-fought and well deserved win.

That's a huge win for West Ham. They're seven points clear of Leicester who can only get nine more this campaign.

Both West Ham and Liverpool will be safe if Leicester lose to Arsenal on Wednesday.
