The loose ball falls to Antoine Semenyo and he should really score but he blazes it over the bar from near the penalty spot.

Manchester United record goalscorer Wayne Rooney, speaking to Football Focus on the passing of Denis Law, who passed away on Friday aged 84: "I met Denis quite a few times, and he has always been helpful. He has given me lots of advice over the years, and I was very fortunate that Denis presented me with the number 10 shirt.

"Initially, I was number eight and when Ruud van Nistelrooy left, Denis presented me with the number 10 shirt, which was a huge honour to have a club legend present me with that shirt.

"When I was younger, he was a bit before my time to watch Denis, but when you join a football club you do a lot of learning about the club and Denis was one of the main players that you looked up and learned about his career."

This is a hard one, because Newcastle are on such a brilliant run but Bournemouth have not lost for a long time, either.

The Cherries are 10 games unbeaten, since 23 November, while Newcastle would set a new club record of 10 wins in a row in all competitions if they beat them.

Magpies boss Howe has never beaten his old team in five attempts in the Premier League since he came to St James' Park in 2021, but I am expecting that to change on Saturday.

Bournemouth will score and they are very capable of nicking a victory here, but Newcastle have momentum and belief and they also have Alexander Isak, who is absolutely flying at the moment.

Sutton's prediction: 2-1

With five minutes until kick-off both sides are gathering in the tunnel.

Bournemouth are wearing t-shirts saying "we're all with you Enes" on the front and Enes Unal 26 on the back after the striker tore his ACL in training last week.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe on TNT Sports: "It [their winning run] is an amazing feeling, we are in good form and it is always a privilege in front of these fans.

"We haven’t talked too much about history. We are just taking it step by step. Bournemouth are in a good form and very good away from home.

"Alex has been in unbelievable form but Anthony Gordon is really contributing as well. Goal creations are a really important thing and he works hard on that and he scores goals as well.

"We have out ourselves in a great position on a few fronts and it is exciting for fans."

Former Bournemouth captain Steve Cook believes the Cherries can "take advantage of where this league is" and make a concerted challenge for Europe this season.

Cook spent a decade at the club between 2012-2022, a spell that started in League One and included a top-half Premier League finish under Eddie Howe in 2016-17.

"The togetherness looks amazing," the now-QPR defender told BBC Radio Solent's Cherries: Unpicked podcast. "It is arguably one of the best Bournemouth teams ever right now. They're pushing heights that the club has never had.

"I really feel like they can make the next step into challenging for Europe which is crazy because you never would have thought that, even when Eddie was in charge. We had a good team then but were still quite far off breaking into the next level of the Premier League.

"I think this Bournemouth team, even with a lot of injuries, can really take advantage of where this league is at.

"They're still getting fantastic results which shows the kind of team they are. It's not necessarily down to individuals. They obviously have extremely talented footballers but as a group they are so strong.

"When they lose players, others are ready to come in and take their opportunities. I think that's something the manager really insists on - being ready to play and excel on the pitch."

Former Newcastle striker and Match of the Day pundits Alan Shearer believes Alexander Isak's fine form boosts Newcastle United's chance of catching up with league leaders Liverpool.

Eddie Howe says "there is not a pot of money waiting to be spent" as he plots Newcastle's way through another transfer window.

Aside from making Lewis Hall's move from Chelsea permanent last summer, the Magpies have not made a major signing since Tino Livramento joined the club from Southampton in August 2023.

In Howe's view, that is unlikely to change this month.

"There's not a pot of money there waiting to be spent," he said. "It is all about June 30 and making sure you comply by [the profit and sustainability regulations] that date. Obviously if you spend money, then you have to recoup it at a later date."

Paraguay forward Miguel Almiron has been linked with an exit from St James' Park but Howe was realistic about whether any funds generated could be spent during the current window.

The Newcastle boss was asked if he was saving money now for more summer transfers and said: "I don't know if this summer will be different and suddenly the outlook totally changes. I think that's for another day. What I would say is that hopefully the future beyond looks very different."

Bournemouth

Bournemouth fan Jeff Hayward, from the Back of the Net podcast, speaking to BBC 5 Live about his side's chance of a positive result in the early kick off:

"We've had an astonishing season thus far and the credit to the team, the coach and everybody connected with the club because we are in dreamland too. But today does feel like a game too far. And I don't just mean the 350 miles fans got to travel for a 12.30 kick off.

"I couldn't get a ticket that I could afford to get there in time. That's how bad it was. It was just outrageous. So, I'm not going to be there. But we've barely got a first team today. We've got 12 fit outfield players and the rest is academy players. Coming off the back of an amazing 2-2 draw at Chelsea with that same team on Tuesday, I think it's just physically the exertion of going to an informed Newcastle and getting something there. I think it's probably a stretch for us to do that today."

Newcastle fan Kendall Rowan spoke to BBC 5 Live about the Magpies' season so far:

On Alexander Isak's form: "[He's] probably the best striker in the world at the moment on form. We're looking really good at the moment. Obviously, the season started a little bit inconsistent, but we've managed since the beginning of December to pick up nine wins in a row.

"It's looking good at the moment. But, there's always a blip to be had. Just hopefully it's not this weekend."

On the chance to win silverware this season: "Honestly, I think most of the fan base would just be over the moon if we got Champions League again because at the beginning of the season, we didn't genuinely think that that was maybe going to happen. The form that we're in at the moment, I think we could definitely do it. I'll be really happy with that."

When former Liverpool and England defender Jamie Carragher suggested Arsenal were morphing into a "Jose Mourinho team" he meant to compliment the club's defensive resilience and set-piece prowess.

But, intentional or not, contained within his September critique was a twinge of doubt about the viability of a defence-first mantra in the modern age.

Three months on, amid accusations of overreliance on corners and squandered chances, of streamlined attacking tactics and a stodgy midfield, the Mourinho comparison feels both increasingly apt and unwanted.

Wednesday's win over rivals Tottenham, thanks in part to another one of those set-piece goals, left the Gunners four points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool to keep them right in the hunt.

But, for all the talk, how much have they actually changed this season? Is the comparison a fair one? And could it help them win the title - just as Mourinho did three times at Chelsea - or will it hinder their hopes?
