That was a great performance, really solid. They took chances early, looked like they wanted more, looked like they wanted to kill the game in the first half - then they could think about Tuesday. So credit to them.

It's not difficult to shake off a midweek game in the middle of a title race. You live each game when you're at the top, like Arsenal are. There's no better feeling. Absolutely no better feeling. So taking care of business in each game is really easy.

On Man City:

They've only got one mindset. They're chasing. They got to enjoy the chase. 


They've got to enjoy the chase up until the whistle goes, and then they've just got to execute a plan. It's an interesting mindset as there will be a buzz in [City] training tomorrow. 100% will be a buzz.

Arsenal

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, speaking to Sky Sports: "It was a great team performance. There were some great individual performances as well, which is very important. We started in the game as we wanted. Very lively. Really intense in the high press. We got the crowd going and when this stadium creates that kind of atmosphere, it can be difficult.

"We had more players available today. It was a really good balance in terms of the qualities. It was a great performance.

"We showed a lot of authority, determination and composure. We brought a lot of energy to the stadium.

On Myles Lewis-Skelly: "I said before, the way he is acting in training, the way he is behaving around the boys is phenomenal.

"Game two done. Another three to go. We won the most games in the history of this club in a whole season and it's not finished.

On Atleti resting players: "We have a lot of rhythm. We are used to playing every three days and we will play one of the biggest games in the history of this stadium."

Wolves

Wolves manager Rob Edwards speaking to Match of the Day about supporters booing his substitution: “Hugo (Bueno) did well to get through the week in training. He also did well to get through the minutes he played in the game. We took him off because we wanted to be positive and get another forward on the pitch - that was the reason for it. You’re damned if you do, damned if you don’t at times. Hugo missed most of the week of training.”

Newcastle United

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "Jacob Murphy is an excellent crosser of a football. He's created countless goals for us over the years. Will [William Osula] still had a bit to do and he did it well.

"Second goal, it's great to see us back in form from set plays.

"It was always going to be difficult game today, Brighton play very fluid, open, attractive football and we are not in that moment. We had to withstand a bit of pressure, ride our luck, but we were always a threat and scored a third.

"Couple of key saves from Nick [Pope], the one early in the game was massive because you don't want to be chasing the game against them with their style.

"The crowd were really good with us today, I am delighted for them. They've witnessed everything in the last few weeks and have stayed with us and stayed loyal to the team. I thank them greatly."

Wolves

Wolves manager Rob Edwards on restoring a positive feeling around the place: "It will be difficult before the end of the season. I think recruitment in the summer will be a big thing and then we have got to win football matches. We've got to be able to start well. We'll try our best now to get some results. We got a result today, so we stopped the rot of three defeats in a row. We will have to stay strong at the moment. There is a lot of anger, I understand it. We are bottom of the league and have been relegated. People are not happy. There is nothing we can do than work really hard at the moment and find some more results."

The most impressive thing about Arsenal today was the way they started. When it gets to this stage of the season, you have to start well, have shots, suffocate the other team and get the fans up.

Myles Lews-Skelly was the prime example of that today. He got tight, went for a couple of balls and Fulham couldn't get out of their half.

They have got to start every game like that from now on.

Brentford

Brentford goalscorer Nathan Collins to BBC Match of the Day: "It's a better feeling than a draw. It's been coming, our performances have been there.

"They [West Ham] were good. First half we didn't play our best but we stuck in it. We showed our quality in the second half."

On Josh Dasilva's return: "Josh is one of a kind. You don't get many players like him anymore. What he's gone through, I hope nobody experiences what he's gone through. He deserves every moment he gets.

"This club is built on progressing everyone. That's what is special. It's not about one player specifically, it's about progressing the whole club. At the start of the season we had a lot of set backs and people leaving, but we brought new faces in. This club is all about bouncing back."

Arsenal

Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres, speaking to Sky Sports: "At this stage, we have to win the games that are left. We showed a good performance and are happy to have got the three points.

"I think we always go into games believing we’re going to play well and create a lot of chances. Today we did that and we enjoyed it.

"We never stopped believing. We're not going to. That’s how it is and we keep going. We just need to focus on the next game.

"It's been good. We've had some good results. We're on a good path, but we have to stay there and keep going like this."

On Arsenal’s silverware hopes: "It’s not so many games left now. We’re in a good position now, so of course [we have a good chance]."

Newcastle United

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "It's been a horrible feeling for us for a number of weeks. We have been looking to change our fortunes. The attitude of the lads during this difficult run has been outstanding. We stayed together, trained well, and we got our reward today.

"It's always nice to win for and with them [the club hierarchy]. They have always been really supportive. It was great they were here to see the lads give so much. We are together as a united football club.

"The feelings and emotions of trying to put it right, trying to find solutions and answers, get through to the players and connect with them in a different way - in difficult moments I try to focus on what's going to put it right, rather than anger and blame. I take the responsibility myself.

"It's been hard for my family because they see the intimate side of me behind closed doors. I haven't been a bundle of joy the past few weeks, so I am pleased for them as well."

You can talk about goal difference but you just get the feeling that one of these teams is going to slip up. Arsenal have done the job today and cruised through this second half.

And more importantly Arteta has been able to rest some crucial players.
