Tomlin joins Morecambe as assistant amid signings

Morecambe have appointed former Peterborough United and Middlesbrough midfielder Lee Tomlin as assistant to new boss Ashvir Singh Johal.

The 36-year-old joins having previously worked as a coach at Leicester City and Sheffield United.

"Lee is someone I have known for a very long time. I knew that when I became a manager Lee was the person I wanted to be my assistant manager," Johal told the club website.

"He is someone that I can trust to take us to the next level so I'm really looking forward to working with him and I think he is someone that will add real value to our team."

Morecambe confirmed earlier on Wednesday that their game against Altrincham at the weekend will go ahead as planned following their takeover by Panjab Warriors.

The club have made two signings ahead of their opening game of the season with former Barrow forward Harrison Panayiotou and former Accrington Stanley midfielder Mo Sangare joining the club.
