Republic of Ireland international Emily Murphy is on the verge of joining Women’s Super League club Brighton.
The 23-year-old was Newcastle’s top-scorer in the second division last season with six goals and four assists in 15 starts and has a year remaining on her contract.
It is understood she is in advanced discussions to join Brighton, with Newcastle set to receive a fee that sources say would be a club record sale.
She has previous WSL experience from her time at Birmingham City and Chelsea and had spells playing in the United States.
The forward has become a regular for the Republic of Ireland since her debut in 2024, starting five of their six Women's World Cup qualifying matches this year.
Brighton have already made five signings this summer as they look to build on last season's success where they reached the Women's FA Cup final.
Newcastle confirmed a replacement for Murphy on Tuesday with the signing of Scotland international Kathleen McGovern - their fourth signing this summer.
The 24-year-old joins from Scottish side Hibernian where she netted 51 goals in 65 appearances.
