Dunfermline's players and supporters celebrate a winning return to the Championship
Dunfermline emerged victorious against Airdrieonians in the battle of the newcomers in a pulsating Scottish Championship opner.
The first goal of a sizzling first half was eased over the line by Airdrie's Craig Watson after a scramble.
Player-manager Rhys McCabe was outstanding but there was little he could do to stop the equaliser when Ewan Otoo headed home.
And substitute Paul Allan then struck a glorious second-half winner.
The 23-year-old sent a curling strike from way outside the area towards goal, leaving Josh Clarke with no chance.
One cloud on the Dunfermline horizon, though, was a late red card for Rhys Breen after a second yellow.
