You can't fluke a play-off place over 16 weeks.

It took three darts at the final double, but Nathan Aspinall finds it! It's a dream come true for the man from Stockport, as he reaches the Premier League darts final night for the first time in his career.

Michael van Gerwen, for only the second time in 13 attempts, has failed to make the play-offs.

Aspinall has three at tops...

The Asp has hit five doubles out of seven, MVG just two from seven. That could be the decider.

Aspinall would love to break Van Gerwen and get it done here. And he's first to a finish 131 - as Van Gerwen gets a bounceout and is nowhere!

After that messy leg six, Van Gerwen opens leg seven with 180. Darts, there's nothing like it.

Nathan Aspinall wants to re-assert himself here, nodding with purpose as he sets up 113.

T20, single 13... TOPS! The O2 is calling.

Michael van Gerwen, you would think, simply has to win this leg. He's behind Aspinall in every metric - 3-1 in 180s, while the Stockport player is averaging over 100.

But MVG is nothing if not stubborn, and is on a 102 finish with Aspinall nowhere. It gives him time to set up for three at D8.

The first lands on single 8... then outside D4... then on the single 4!

Aspinall can punish him with 105, but can't.

MVG hits single two, then finally, FINALLY D1. That was excruciating.

The first show of emotion in this match comes from Aspinall, as he throws 180 then gives a double fist pump.

He follows it with a 140, then gets to a finish first, 124.

And he's bagged it! Aspinall is on the verge.

Aspinall opens with 180, Van Gerwen responds with 140. Aspinall hits T20 with his fourth dart, but then two singles.

After both men miss big checkouts, Van Gerwen needs 91 with Aspinall lurking on 12.

And Van Gerwen misses his double! D6 needed for Aspinall... gets it at the second time of asking.
