It is still early in the competition but you do feel it is quite important to get points on the board soon for Stephen Bunting.

It is the players who drip feed points that tend to qualify.

Luke Humphries just needs to hold his throw from here on in and takes command in leg six.

He gets two visits to win from 124 and the first three leave double 16.

Stephen Bunting, at 182, gets the crowd wanting a maximum when he finds 120 from the first two darts, but he sensibly lays up.

It doesn't matter, as Humphries restores his two-leg lead.

There's also a great reception for Luke Humphries as he gets ready to take on close friend Bunting.

"Stephen is a great player and I know it's going to be a tough night but if I'm at my best it will be a tough night for him too."

Good friends Luke Humphries and Stephen Bunting kick off tonight's quarter-final action in Dublin.

Humphries currently has a three-point lead at the top of the table after the first two weeks, having reached the final in both Belfast and Glasgow.

Bunting, in his first full Premier League season for a decade, is one of two players yet to pick up a win this season alongside Nathan Aspinall.

The two men have met eight times since the start of 2024, with Humphries winning five and Bunting winning three. The Bullet did win 7-6 in their last meeting a month ago in Bahrain.

With Luke Littler not in Players Championship action this week, he got the opportunity to meet superstar rapper Pitbull.

Pitbull, who has featured on three UK number one singles, also sings Littler's Green Light theme song and kickstarted his 2025 tour in Dublin on Wednesday night.

Posting on Instagram after the two met, Pitbull said: "It was an honour, wishing you the best of luck. You have the Green Light, Dale!"

Littler also spent time on Wednesday with the D7 Youth Darts Academy on the outskirts of Dublin.

Last week, the 2025 Players Championship kicked off with its first two events in Wigan.

This week, the tour headed to Rosmalen in the Netherlands for events on Monday and Tuesday.

Chris Dobey won the third event on Monday, with the fourth event being won by Ryan Searle on Tuesday.

Michael van Gerwen suffered a shock first round defeat on Monday to Irish social care worker Michael Flynn.

We've had another two of the Players Championships events since last Thursday's Premier League event in Glasgow.

Monday's event in Rosmalen, the Netherlands, didn't go to plan for Dutchman Michael van Gerwen.

The three-time world champion was beaten 6-4 in the first round by Irish amateur Michael Flynn, who called the win a "massive moment" for his career.

The 32-year-old, who works in social care in County Limerick in his day job, was only added to the PDC event's entry list on Sunday morning after a number of withdrawals.

It meant a three-hour dash by car from his home in the west of Ireland to Dublin airport to catch a flight to the Netherlands to ensure he reached the tournament in time.

Flynn - nicknamed 'the Flying' - is ranked 11th on the Challenge Tour, which is used as a reserve list for Players Championship events.

"MVG wasn't the name you want to see as your first opponent - you'd hope for an easier game," Flynn told BBC Sport.

"I knew my form was good coming into the tournament but to beat a three-time world champion is a massive moment in my career."

Flynn's average of 92.41 in the match was lower than Van Gerwen's 97.01 but he held his nerve at the crucial moments.
