This is a good work out for NZ, apart from Smith bowling I don't think any of the other NZ bowlers will get in the Tests against England

Wilson c Williamson b Sears 0 (Ire 179 all out)

The same combination strike again with Sears' delivery strikes Reuben Wilson's glove and it popped up for a simple Kane Williamson catch.

And that's it for Ireland, well short of what was needed.

Zayan (17:10) I'd say that only one of New Zealand's bowlers are looking on form at the moment! On a serious note, Ireland should be playing more Test cricket and I don't understand why the ECB aren't offering up the England Test team to play annual games against the Ireland team as a bit of a curtain-raiser to the Test summer - surely benefits all parties, and whilst it's not the same I really enjoyed watching England visit the Netherlands a couple of years back. It would also give more England fans a chance to watch them overseas!

Zayan, you forget that England fans are always worried.

NZ bowlers are on form. England should be worried.

Andy McBrine dabs on the legside for a single off Zak Foulkes, before Mark Adair flicks away for a run off the final ball.

It brings up the 150 for Ireland.

  17. Get Involvedpublished at 16:51 BST 28 May

Jake Egan the only player to score any runs of note in the first class game in Dublin last week with a fine century, surely merited selection given Ireland's top order performance in this match?

    Ben, Waringstown

  18. Ire 146-6published at 36 overs

That's a third maiden for Zak Foulkes in the game but Andy McBrine and Mark Adair remain and they are in no rush.

Over the discussion on who this Test benefits, both. We need more red ball cricket, and once Abbotstown is built hopefully can offer more home tests. Equally for NZ and any away it gives them a match to get used to ball and pitch conditions similar to England.

Ireland do prioritise Test matches against teams closer to them in the Test Rankings - Zimbabwe/Bangladesh/Sri Lanka/Pakistan. This is only the second nation in the top five they've every played. It's good to do it every now & then to help people learn.

    Barry, Belfast

Ireland often put in a good account of themselves in Test matches & I firmly believe that if they play enough matches against good opposition they will continue to improve. It would of course also make sense for them to continue playing more Tests against sides such as the West Indies, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. They have recently won Tests against Zimbabwe, and lost a two-match series against Bangladesh.
