Karla Ramos Zamora went and stood in the wrong corner. As a baffled Team Ryan just looked at her, and the referee pointed her in the right direction.

    Doesn't bode well.

    Ryan v Zamora

It's only 19:22 GMT but we're closing in on a world title fight.

Karla Ramos Zamora is first to make the walk for this WBC light-welterweight bout.

The Mexican marches down the ramp pretty swiftly.

I arrived to the arena around 17:30 GMT and it was, as you might expect, dead.

It's picked up slightly but still sparse. I'd say around a quarter full - and that's being generous. There's plenty in the bar, though.

It's a shame if the atmosphere isn't quite there for Sandy Ryan, who will be making her ringwalk in a matter of minutes.

But this place will be rocking later, with promoter Eddie Hearn saying it's a sell-out with more than 8,000 fans expected.

We've not seen much of Sandy Ryan and Karla Ramos Zamora during fight week, but they were very respectful at yesterday's weigh-in.

Ryan, dropping back down to light-welterweight, looked composed as she shook hands with Zamora, who was draped in the flag of her native Mexico.

    They both weighed 9st 13lb (63kg)

  5. 'Let's roll the dice again'published at 19:20 GMT 21 February

Sandy Ryan has spent the majority of her career campaigning at welterweight and held the WBO title in that division, but she is going for gold in a new weight class tonight.

Ryan and Karla Ramos Zamora meet at light-welterweight with the WBC strap on the line.

The 32-year-old has twice fought at that weight class - beating Anahi Ester Sanchez and losing against Erica Farias - and believes moving down again in pursuit of a world title will help to build her reputation.

"This is such a big opportunity to become a two-weight world champion for myself and for my people, which is why I’m doing this," Ryan told BBC Radio Derby.

“I wasn’t sure whether I was going to fight again. That’s when a world title came up again I said let’s roll the dice again.

"It’s not easy doing this in two weight categories and if I can do this, that’s an even bigger stamp on my name."

  6. Ryan's elite experience could be keypublished at 19:18 GMT 21 February

On paper, Sandy Ryan looks like she is in against a more experienced operator tonight.

Ryan and Karla Ramos Zamora are the same age - 32 - but the Mexican has been more active.

Zamora has fought 24 times and has 150 rounds under her belt, compared to Ryan's 12 fights and 97 rounds.

But it's the level of competition in those bouts that could give Ryan the edge.

Ryan has five world title fights on her record - winning two, drawing one and losing two - and that elite-level experience could be essential.

  7. 'I thought I was done'published at 19:17 GMT 21 February

Sandy Ryan spent the best part of six months consumed by a heated rivalry with Mikaela Mayer between 2024 and 2025.

Ryan lost two fights against the American - losing her WBO welterweight belt before coming up short when attempting to reclaim it in a rematch.

The Derby fighter has since bounced back with a win over Jade Grierson, but admitted she considering walking away from boxing after two physically and mentally draining contests.

"After the fight [against Mayer], I thought I was done," Ryan told BBC Radio Derby.

"I was finished boxing. And then a few weeks after, I had been back home for a while and after a few weeks the fight was still in me. I still have so much to give."

Karla Ramos Zamora was born in Mexico in 1993 and made her professional debut in 2014.

The 32-year-old has 12 wins, 10 defeats and two draws on her 24-fight record, with four of her victories coming by knockout.

Zamora has won three of her last seven fights, drawing two and losing two, and has never previously fought for a world title.

Of Zamora's 24 fights, 17 have taken place in her homeland, six have been in Canada and one in England.

  9. Wood v Warrington 2 - when are the ringwalks?published at 19:14 GMT 21 February

First things first, let's give you a rough idea of when we are expecting the ringwalks tonight.

Sandy Ryan and Karla Ramos Zamora were due to walk to the ring at around 19:45 GMT for their WBC light-welterweight world title bout, but Leo Atang's quick win might mean they are on the way down the ramp a little earlier.

Leigh Wood and Josh Warrington are scheduled to make their ringwalks at 22:15.

All timings are subject to change.

  10. Taylor's WBC belt on the linepublished at 19:13 GMT 21 February

Sandy Ryan and Karla Ramos Zamora compete for the vacant WBC light-welterweight title tonight, but why is it up for grabs?

Undisputed light-welterweight champion Katie Taylor announced she wanted to take some time away from boxing in September and the WBC named her a 'Champion in Recess'.

That allows the division to continue rolling on in Taylor's absence but means she will be first in line for a shot at the belt when she chooses to return.

Taylor, 39, last fought in July when wrapping up her trilogy with a third win against Amanda Serrano.

I thought we'd have a bit of buffering time until Sandy Ryan faces Karla Ramos Zamora for the vacant WBC light-welterweight title.

But Leo Atang has just stopped Dan Garber inside a minute.

    Full steam ahead!

  13. A proper British grudge matchpublished at 19:06 GMT 21 February

We have a proper British grudge match in Nottingham tonight.

Two great servants to the sport. Two former world champions. And two men who really don’t like each other.

Leigh Wood has his home city behind him, and that Nottingham crowd can be very loud.

But don’t underestimate the 'Leeds Warrior' - Josh Warrington travels in numbers and has one of the most loyal fanbases in the country. They will make themselves heard.

Yes, both fighters are past their prime and have miles are on the clock. The loser likely retires, and maybe even the winner.

But I’ve got a feeling we will entertained and won’t be needing the judges.
