Hunts wins fourth gold as Great Britain storm to mixed 4x100m relay victory

Italy beat Great Britain by one gold to finish top of the medal table at the 2026 European Athletics Championships in Birmingham.
With home advantage for the first time, Britain were seeking to finish top of the standings after coming third at Rome 2024.
But Italy beat Britain by just 0.03 seconds to win gold in the men's 4x400m relay to make it back-to back top-place finishes.
Britain finished second with nine gold, eight silver and two bronze medals, while four athletes set records during these championships:
Amy Hunt made history by becoming the first athlete to win four gold medals at one championships, winning the women's 100m, women's 200m, women's 4x100, relay and the mixed 4x100m relay titles
Dina Asher-Smith won two relays golds and 200m bronze as she became the most successful athlete in the history of the championships with a record eight golds and 11 medals in total.
Matthew Hudson-Smith won his fifth European gold as well as a silver to become the most-decorated male athlete of all time with nine medals.
Zharnel Hughes's two golds means he becomes Britain's most successful male athlete with six golds, overtaking Hudson-Smith, Sir Mo Farah and Roger Black.
GB remain the most successful nation in the 92-year history of the championships, having topped the medal table in Brussels in 1950 and Budapest in 1998 before finishing first at Zurich 2014, Berlin 2018 and Munich 2022.
