What's
your name?
Jonny EatGood
Where
is it?
Santino's, 371-373, Ecclesall Road, Sheffield, S11
What's
the number? 0114
267 0078
What's
the grub like, then?
Not impressed. Starter was a mushroom in cream and brandy sauce,
which was basically a runny tasteless grey goo, tasting of nothing
at all. Main course was chicken in dijon sauce which I expected
to excite my tastebuds. I have no idea how they managed to get chicken
to taste like the vegetable starter, and mustard sauce to not taste
of mustard, but they did. The sauce was a brown runny goo this time.
Desert was factory made profiteroles that arrived on a freezer truck.
What
did you drink?
We took our own Cava. Just dont let them try to charge you £5 corkage
instead of £1.50 because they dont understand that it isnt champagne!
What's
the crowd like?
Mixed bunch in our side. The other larger section was full of blokes
being very loud, looking very much like photocopier salesmen on
a freebie works night out.
And
the vibe?
Our side OK. Would have hated to be in the other bit.
Anything
else you'd like to say?
Santinos is so overrated. at 11.45 all the satff put thier coats
on and stand next to the table encouraging you to leave, food is
overpriced and tasteless, some of the people are drunk and disorderly,
and they try to rip you off on corkage! Apparently it has a new
owner, so lets hope that he sorts it out rather than just collecting
as loads money for as little as possible. This was our third time,
and each time we said that we wont go back, this time we mean it!
Value
for money?
Awful. Starters around £5-6, and mains up to £10 for badly prepared
and cooked food.

I agree with the review for Santino's on Ecclesall Rd, Sheffield
except for on point. The average meal spend is given at £40. My
wife and I have never managed to spend more than £50 for two three
course meals including drinks. All in all highly recommended.
